We had Portuguese Marines assigned to our base of operations to guard it and we became really good friends with them. So I was married for 25 years. She was a good wife and a good person, but we just grew apart. Thankfully, we didn't have kids (we married in our mid-30s and were working on our respective careers, so we never got around to having rug-rats). We've been separated for about a year now and I have to say that I love going out to bars with my friends and NOT GIVING A SHIT ABOUT ANY WOMEN IN SIGHT. I live up in the Washington, DC area and as an senior IT/Accounting professional, I'm usually in a suit and tie most Friday's when I meet up with my friends after work. Although I'm 59, I'm still in pretty decent shape (I try to bike about 30 miles a week, workout with weights every couple of days, row season-permitting and ride horses in the Virginia countryside on the weekends). Yeah, the hair is thinking on top and is getting grey around the ears and I'm weighing in at 210 lbs (at a height of 6'2"), which is up about 30 lbs from my prime, but all in all I'm not in too bad shape for a guy whose been through life's wringer. So when I walk into a high-end bar or restaurant, I have to say it is FREAKING AWESOME to queue up with my buddies and dismiss any women in the place. I've actually had young women in their late 20's and early 30's sidle over beside me and try to engage in banter, and I just blow them off and continue talking about my plans to ride with the Middleburg Hunt on Saturday, or compete with the team in an upcoming sweep competition or attend the next concert at the Kennedy Center. Fuck 'em. They couldn't be bothered to give me the time of day when I was single, but now that I'm established, well-off with a six-figure job and available, they fall all over themselves for my attention and when they don't get it, they literally pout like the intellectual and emotional bed-wetting children that they are.

Personally, my experiences taught me that casually hooking up on dating apps, going to strip clubs or getting an escort sounded fun in theory, especially when "in the mood", but each time I managed to get in those situations, it always ended up feeling inauthentic, transactional, forced and very wrong.
Once I realized that lifestyle wasn't worthwhile, it made it infinitely easier to walk away from our current hook up culture and focus on more meaningful pursuits, or to just spend my time alone doing whatever I want to do.
That exact moment I was truly able to see the stupidity and toxicity of our current society laid out in front of me, that same society that used to make me feel like a loser if I wasn't able to partake in it, and resoundingly say "Meh, no thanks", was one of the single most triumphant and liberating moments of my life.
Now, for the first time I can truly think of, and with the weight of that burden gone, I feel in control of my personal destiny and happiness, and the freedom to figure it out for myself at my own pace. Thank God us men now have the red pill and guys like you, Better Bachelor.
i can second that. The fun is always spicier when emotions and passion are involved. Hookups were not that great in my opinion. It was fine if i went through a long dry spell but overall, i much prefer the intimacy of a real women.

I found your problem in your first sentence. "going to college" Colleges have turned into gigantic man hating machines. I remember when I was in the military we had 2 young guys who were going for a degree and they had to take one of those feminine studies class. It was taught by a lesbian and she made no attempt to hide her hatred of men. She in essence said that men are responsible for everything wrong in society on day one.
She gave everyone a self quiz to do and the lower the score the more self aware and in touch with your feelings you were. The higher you were the closer you were to Captain Kirk (in essence a caveman). Some of the questions were do you pee standing up or sitting down. Less points for sitting. Do you shave everyday. More points for shaving. etc etc. It was geared that even a normal male would be close to a caveman (Captain Kirk). The class was eventually removed after a male student how had always gotten top grades sued when he was forced to take the class and almost ended up failing. It was shown the teacher did not treat males fairly.

All this happened before I even turned 30. I've never been married and I've been single for years. I hear you bro. I'm 34 now, but looking back 9 years I know exactly what you're talking about. And I've actually always been very well situated. I'm 6'2, muscular, I'm not going bald any time soon, I'd say I'm not too bad looking, at least 9 years ago I wasn't overweight (which actually doesn't matter that much) and I've never been a pushover. But if you think that might land you a pretty girl you should think again. I can only imagine how grim things are for short and not so confident guys. A female friend of mine once told me she broke up an affair with a short guy because she didn't like how he had to look up to other guys. Now that is one shattering statement if you ask me.
I think dating is truly screwed these days. I got some action from time to time, don't get me wrong. And now I'm in a relationship for three years with a nice and pretty girl. But back then it's always been a compromise. And it's not like the pretty girls of my generation were dating someone better, no. They were all fucking the same three testosteron overcharged guys. Or the DJ. Sometimes they had relationships with "normal" guys, but all that happend was that the guys got their heart broken and the pretty girls moved on. I know like three guys that could have their pick of women. Everyone else had to hope to get lucky, but almost always went home alone.
BUT there is one silver lining. When you turn 30 things change dramatically. You will never have your pick of women, that's for sure (unless you already have it). But you'll get more successful when you age. Your best bet is, as the red pill guys quite accurately tell, to work on yourself and forget about women. Get a professional once a month if you like. At least there you can have your pick.
As you age you get more experience and confidence. When you turn 30 the tides have shifted. Now even the pretty girls are looking for something serious, while the not-so-pretty to ok-looking girls (threes to sixes), who know how to value a man because they never got so much action, are already in long term relationships or married with children. Now the former pretty girls, who're unfortunately not so pretty anymore, come knocking at your door. Now there's one important thing to consider and I'm pretty sure you already know it: Date them, fuck them, but don't marry them. Don't buy used goods!

That story repeated at least one more time until she found "Mr. Right". Mr. Right wasn't right afterall, because he lied to her about going to university for like four years. So once again it's breakup time. Now she's 33 years old, probably somewhat casually dating a married 40-something guy because the guys her age aren't looking for women her age to commit to and her fertility is declining rapidly. I'm already counting the years to childless spinsterhood, pretty sure she can get there.
So long story short: I know the world today looks like it's made for women, but it really isn't. It's made for men. Get your shit in order, get your 20s behind you (terrible time if you ask me), get a good job with high income and enjoy the rest of your life looking down on those twats. They almost always end up with a beta provider or a bunch of cats. And they decline rapidly, while pretty much all my male friends are A LOT more attractive beeing 35 than 25. There are so many former hot girls now single mothers or cat ladies that you'll never run out of women to laugh about.

People often rate themselves and others as a 7 to mean average when it's supposed to be 5, someone's 10 is usually quite rare so the scale has a psychological bias towards towards the upper tier, getting rated anything below 5 is usually quite bad.

I'm not sure its just young women complaining about young men, rather women in general and men in general. But its literally a buyers market for many men, and it isn't even a market for the top men, since they get milk thrust at them by the gallon by the cows. It isn't most men even making the decision of who is serious or not, its a very small number deciding what they want out of an overwhelming majority of women. You can't change what used to be quite a solid and fair transaction (women wait until marriage before sex, men provide for the family and get sex with a committed woman), into a literal free-for-all (well for the top men) and expect anyone to pay for the transaction any more when they can get it for free...

i know the feeling. i'm in the Water Treatment Chemical Industry. I've got thousands of people depending on me every week to keep their plants and steam boiler operations running, and it's a recession proof sector. I'm sitting on a pile of mining stocks and precious metals and I'm making far more in my portfolio than i am working these days. And the best part is i'm outside all day, cruising around in a nice truck listening to interviews with top mining executives, geologists, fund managers, technical analysts and trend forecasters. But of course, i'm just a some loser in stripes to the women who turn their noses up at me while they clutch their yoga mats in the YMCA parking lot. The best part is knowing these women just hate each other's guts. i have a friend who is a shrink, and half her practice is listening to female PTSD victims who come in to talk about the relentless female-on-female bullying and malevolence in your average office environment. But of course they all have to close ranks and pretend to be a 'sisterhood' as soon as a guy walks in the room. The makeup, the filters on instagram pics, the spanx, the yoga pants... it's like there's just so much effort to cover up what's really going on with women. many of them are flat broke alcoholic train wrecks.
