I'm kitbashing a Stormcast Eternals Warcry warband right now. I'm using only GW bits, but only because I am not aware of any other that work with Stormcast, given how big they are.
Nids don’t need new sculpts. They were perfect the first time. But seriously they are still amazing considering how old they are. Hope we see them and eldar updated soon.
I agree except the red terror and biovores need updating. I have never liked the biovore model and the red terror just doesn't fit with the modern larger sculpts... but Eldar first no matter what. -a Tyranid only guy
I just started laughing with the 1980's movie theme music behind the base montage! Thanks for the chuckle. I really like what this company did with space bug sculpts.
I'm a huge fan of Puppetwar's Bugs already, but this was very helpful as a guide to paint them! I have about 20 of them printed and primed up, that have just been intimidating me (I only started painting in Jan)
I have used 3d prints to replace some game pieces from board games as well. It really is nice to have suck a variety of choices at your finger tips. Nice paint work as always.
I do really love and appreciate how this is about alternative instead of just stealing by 3D printing Games Workshop models, so many videos out there about people printing off armies.
That model looks awesome dude, great work. Alternative models are great as it gives you a chance to customise your army and have it stand out from everyone else's.
Been waiting so long for a good drybrushing montage, almost felt a bit Top Gun. The thing that has put me off playing 40k or AoS all these years is the cost, 3d printing has given me the chance to grow my own pile of shame. I have painted SO much more since I invested in a printer. GW used to have the best models bar none, but not the case any more. So many artists on Patreon offering so many models at a fraction of the cost. Its a no brainer for those of us to just love to paint.
3d printing basically just solves a lot of issues that come from relying on one company to make all your models. Like for example the issue of GW never updating certain model ranges like Eldar or Seraphon for example. Why pay premium for 20 years old models when you can just print infinitely better ones for fraction of the cost? Another thing is that it just gives you more options. I just prefer the proxies in my STL library over stuff GW makes because I've hand picked everything in there. For example I looked at about hundred giants when I started working on a mega gargant project and ended up buying 12 of my favourites that I then narrowed those down to 4 which I printed and painted as the army. Now that doesn't mean that I've now got 8 giant models that will never be used because whenever I make a new list that uses a gargant mercenary I can just pick a new gargant who's style fits that specific army. I shit you not I've actually got 3 different mega gargant sized lizardmen that I could use in a seraphon list.
Yup GW really needs to plan for the future because 3d printing is improving at a ridiculously fast pace and their current model is going to fail hard if they don't adapt.
@@celticrain8170 They squatted 10k high elves i had, even tho they were sold as Age of Sigmar models. GW is not loyal to its customers, i own then no loyalty whatsoever.

The previous time stamp was an awesome name for a band :-) great work Jon.
one of the best videos yet man! and amazing music :) love the synth
the bloopers are funny man.. you make great vids.
Years ago I ended up with a closing store's bits bin. 3D printing compatible pieces is finally letting me put them to use. Always a fan of maximizing a GW box.
Marvelous video Uncle Jon! I really like the effect of the skin! As always marvelous video!!
There’s no way in hell I wouldn’t watch your video to the end!!!! You always crack me up and I can’t wait to see your bloopers and the conclusion with your alter ego. Awesome job John, thank you so much!!!
Great tutorial, great results, great 80's montage music, and great humour. Your content is....great! 😁Take care 👍
Best mini painting vids, hands down. Always makes me laugh on top of being very informative.
Man, as always I instantly exist full screen to like the video after watching the first 40 seconds of your video. Bonkers. Keep on truckin' brother.
Fantastic montage with excellent music! More please!
Vallejo Extra Opaque Heavy Violet is a good match with amazing coverage. I absolutely love the extra opaque line.
I wish you'd painted an OG genestealer at the same time just for the sake of comparison.
Loved the video - great job and beautiful work on that model!
Best tyranids I saw were from Hydracast, a Russian studio. We tried to partner with them but they are still thinking.
I really don’t know how to write “ tyranids “ correctly. They hadn’t told me in school!
You earned a like and subscribe at the 3:30 mark… I spit bagel all over my paint desk 😂
I did my 3rd ed Sisters of Battle with liche purple robes. The closest equivalent out there is Vallejo Game Colour hexed lichen. It covers pretty well.
This mini just blew my mind. This is for sure the best hormagant/genestealer hybrid model that I have seen (bar the from Julio Nicoletti of course!). Wow, it is so perfectly tyranid! And your painting of the model is incredible! Thanks for the vid. I learned a lot about painting my tyranids too. Thank you!
But it was never nemtioned who the designer of this model was... Or what company?
Just saw that it was by Puppets War in the comments 👌
Didn't realise it was the one who made the design (oops! Mentioned at 8:28).
That Samurai Ork in the intro looks so cool... need to find out more about that one! Awesome video as always 👍
I'm kitbashing a Stormcast Eternals Warcry warband right now. I'm using only GW bits, but only because I am not aware of any other that work with Stormcast, given how big they are.
Love these ....Time to add them to my printing backlog. Right after the carnifex and dimachareon proxies finish aha
Awesome topic and great results! Glad you can now do this full time!
-John
Great video and nice to see alternative minis. I don't have a 3D printer but if I did I would be getting those prints!
I kitbash just about every model I put my hands on. Nothing is sacred
Thanks for the Puppetswar link!
I'm a huge fan of Puppetwar's Bugs already, but this was very helpful as a guide to paint them! I have about 20 of them printed and primed up, that have just been intimidating me (I only started painting in Jan)
I will have to star checking the names for your time stamps.
Nice video!
HAH! I LOL'd at the quesiton "What orifice makes the goo?"
I am a patreon for a few different 3d model groups, but PuppetsWar is legitimately the one I get excited for most each month.
Who needs sharks with laser beams, when you have alligators with chainsaw tails?
I have used 3d prints to replace some game pieces from board games as well. It really is nice to have suck a variety of choices at your finger tips. Nice paint work as always.
Great video as always. I'm loving one page rules undead mummies
Love the sound coming with this video.Little retro vibes
I do really love and appreciate how this is about alternative instead of just stealing by 3D printing Games Workshop models, so many videos out there about people printing off armies.
lol the title to this video. Cast out those fishing lines!
Re' the purple, Shyish Purple would make a nice darker purple carapace but you might have to thin it down a little bit.
That model looks awesome dude, great work. Alternative models are great as it gives you a chance to customise your army and have it stand out from everyone else's.
Glad puppetswar is a patreon now. The models are superb. Great painting as always
Excellent Video as always. Love the tutorial part especially.
Dont mind the old models at all. Would gladly support the company that makes all the lore we’ve enjoyed all these years. No loyalties these days.
@@celticrain8170 They squatted 10k high elves i had, even tho they were sold as Age of Sigmar models. GW is not loyal to its customers, i own then no loyalty whatsoever.
@@celticrain8170 Why on earth would I be loyal to a company that's actively hostile towards it's own community and has insane pricing model for their minis?
@@FrozenThrog my Anycubic Photon model only has a maybe 10" x 10" footprint. Also post processing is as simple as 2 small jars filled with Isopropyl Alcohol. You should give it another try!
You know I was just watching the podcast where you said you wouldn’t get a 3d printer. Its amazing how far you have come. I also used to think the technology wasn’t there. How wrong we both were
