Astral Miliwhat?
You're in the GUARD son!
Yeah i’ll never understand people who use these fake names.
Takin in Latin Astra Militarium means “Star Military”.
Throws the table over and yeets the chair out the door.
“But those of the righteous know its the Imperial Guard!”
@@alphabromega859I hate the new names generally but I mind it less for the faction that has Latin and English for high gothic Vs low gothic, the bureaucrats call them astra militarum, everyone else in the guard calls them the guard
THE *WALL OF GUNS.*
I will be cold in the ground before I call them the "Astra Militarum." They're the Imperial Guard. The planet broke before the Guard did.
I love Lucas' economical painting style - so few colours, so little blending, but just making really good colour choices for the transitions and well placed brush strokes. I'd love to see a video taking more time to show this painting in action with commentary on the process.
I agree! It always looks great. I suck at blending so I am currently trying to mimic his paint style but without a more lengthy How-to video it is hard to do.
Nothing screams "what about the second corpse-starch breakfast?" more than this
Loved this video! It seems games workshop have heard you as of today! They have released some ratlings 🎉
Ratling Snipers are some of my favourites Old and New
I have a ton of the little fellas!
And now they are comming!
Those vastroyans are an absolute classic, I had a huge unpainted army’s worth and I sold them like 5 years ago, god they would’ve been worth some money now
The greatest regiment in the Guard. Excellent kitbash. ❤
Great work! I love that you left the Halfling "helmets" on them
I can't believe you made us wait 2 weeks for this video and you only painted 2 mimi minis!
No cookies this week for either of you 😂😂
It would be an amazing series, the two of u making an ab-human astra militarum army, all of it made of ratlings, beastmen, and ogryn, and-or whatever else you could thinkk about
Ratlings, ogryn and one very confused and annoyed human commissar leading them.
@@GilesCuddy Sounds like something straight out of a Pratchett story.
These are the videos that make me come back to this channel every week. You guys are amazing
Thank you guys for this video. This was inspiration as well as entertaining piece. My nurgle blood bowl guardsmen are already being born. BB has probably the best range of minies 👍
This is definitely the best segment of your channel
Thank you for making something for the halflings I hope no one forgets about these cool ass guys
They're like... Imperial Grots...
I've heard of Ratlings before, but tbh, I thought they were space skaven... didn't know they were like the hobbit Ogryns for IG...
The fuq else does IG have that I haven't seen yet?!
@@Count_WankulaSquats? They've basically been moved to be Votaan, but space dwarfs were originally Squats in the Guard.
Victoria Miniatures does exactly the quirky Halfling like Ratlings you're talking about. You might wanna take em for a painting spin. They even eat sandwiches and all!
The Ogryns Victoria sells are also awesome. I have them adjusted for Necromunda and I love them!
@@roelhodzelmans1004 the mud crunchers? Yeah, they've got that old school vibe. I love em too, not overly serious like the current sculpts.
@dontletmebrewthat yup, I had "Grog Ard'Nogg Ogre Veteran" modified, so there are more arm and leg options. So he can be fully bionic, or partially or not at all, use the gun and knife, or Axes, wrenches, hammers etc. Even a two handed minigun. And the 4 heads. It's awesome
Might be my favorite looking paintjob and posing from Emil. Amazing job. Hard to describe, but they look like they should be in a painting instead of on a tabletop!
Was just wondering today where you guys had been! Great video guys, I love ratlings as a youngster, these are so much better!
1:48 is not a Ratling/Space Hafling. It a squat i. e. Space Dwarf. You can see it by the beard, but also by the Rogue Trader era lasgun (this is a hybrid model, plastic arms and gun on a metal body).
Great work. Love the painterly style you applied. Beautifully expressive
I didn't love the idea but boy did I love the results 👍
This video was amazing! I’m really inspired by it, as with all your vids. Keep up the good work
I have these halflings done for Blitzball and they're some of my favorite models. I love the trouser weasel. Lol.
These are brilliant! Please complete the kill team soon! I love these derpy guys!
man, I really want to see more of this, maybe some even more insane conversions. this looks great
I love the use of blood bowl minis!
These are great, but the older ones seem to be more fitting. My gripe would be that they're not really fitting in the Guard, but they've time traveled/universe jumped from Fantasy to 40k and just picked up some discarded weapons and equipment. I guess maybe you can say they're from a Feudal World or something like that to explain their garb/usage of pots and pans on their heads.
If I could I'd at least change the heads for ones that have helmets/military caps that fit more to the guard aesthetics and maybe use the modeling putty to mold some makeshift flak armor on them.
Agreed. They talked about not just adding backpacks and bits and then that's all they really did.
Brilliant video, we need more lukas so he can get cookies.
The feet show exactly why i dont like premade bases even as a necromunda player, floating feet is the worst.
Love this, inspired and absolutely brilliant.
These are fantastic!! Great conversion!
Would love to see the others finished! Great vid!
Definitely thought about using the blood bowl stuff for 40k proxies, was looking at the two ogre ladies from forgeworld to be ogryns, one as a medic and the other as a commissar 😂
The best little detail for me was the hair on his belly. Genius 😂
Absolutely awesome job🫶🫶👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not sure you read all the comments you really do make some amazing minis and conversions, I think you should make a pub diorama with people fighting in the pub then in the caverns and sewers underneath have covens summoning deamons and skaven creeping about in the shadows maybe vampire in the attic? The possibilities are endless 👍
this
I love the mini history lessons on the models you work on
Awesome. Flamethrower halfling looks enough like the comedian from the watchmen movie that I feel like he needs a cigar :)
I would love to see you make an Alpha Legion Kill Team ❤
Nice conversions
Though I agree the colour sceme brought it together quiet nicely, I feel it misses some imperial insignia.
What?
The halflings at 1:46 look awsome. Gimme.
Derpy is the word, they look fun!
1:20 the old metal miniatures are excellent, they just can't be bought.
Amazing conversions, but I'd love to see them all painted 😬
Its starting the way the Black Templater project started and I love it
When people say kitbashing is impossible with modern GW minis...
Amazing job!
Love these kitbash videos! Awesome
Squidmar always delivers the goods, the tiny stumpy legged goods this time!
They are awesome!
He black templars would love these guys!
You should enter these for Golden Daemon. They look amazing!
Can already picture a backstory for these guys. Their world was ravaged by a rogue guard army and a group of five halflings who'd been scavenging in a hab block came across the remains of a cadian regiment that had been slaughtered defending a civilian shelter. Salvaging scraps of armour, weapons even a barely working vox receiver, they set out to help save their world any way they can.
The hairy belly is fantastic and hilarious.
That is one of the original plastic squats at 1:48.
Very cool 😊
Hey for anyone curious and okay with Proxies; just last night for me, hours before this video went up, I found from a conpany called "Wargames Atlantic" a new box set from them called the "SneakFeet" under their Death Fields line.
It's Legally Distinct Ratlings in plastic and about 32 USD with shipping across the pond for European viewers/readers. And I was curious about getting them but seeing this video definitely pushed me into getting them to go along with my Vostroyans that I kitbashed from their Les Grognards boxset and the Cadians.
[EDIT]
HEY SO GUESS WHAT GOT ANNOUNCED A MONTH AFTER THIS VIDEO AND MY COMMENT WERE BOTH MADE AND *AFTER* I ALREADY BOUGHT AND MADE MY PROXIES...
what I read about ratlings is that on frontlines with the guardsmen they use SMG like guns. from a distance snipers which is weird cause how big the gun is lol. fantastic diggers an supply hoarders.
Nice painting
Those OG ratlings are perfect thought you guys knew this stuff
Normally love Lucas’s painting. This one felt phoned in though. Those little guys don’t read as Cadians at all. I like that Lucas went for a sketch rather than smooth blends. On the table from a meter away, they’ll be great.
Would be cool for an Abhumans only regiment or something
I think they are missing some imperial insignias. They need more skulls and aquilas to be read as Imperial Guards. That said, I really like the paintjob.
I feel like people who complain about the new imperial guard models being too complicated are the same people who field half painted, unfinished armies. You don’t have to paint it to golden demon standard, especially since they’re just generic line troops. Just block the important colors in, slap some contrast paint on, and come back to it later if need be. But griping about detailed models because they eliminate your excuse to be lazy is silly. Glad this was NOT one of those videos
so good!
We love you too Maxime 😜
Can you make a video about painting clanrats? The new ones
When is your Vallejo paint set being released?! I need a Vallejo refresh and don’t know if it will be close enough release for me to wait! Love all of your videos!
Hopefully in the coming 2 months
Galet bra video👍🏻
They are wonderful
There is also a ratling slopper in necromunda along with probably a few more too but they're resin
"Happy, life enjoying creatures."
YOu know, that this is W40k universe, right? :D
Delusion is big in 40k i've heard
@@SquidmarMiniatures Yeah, those guys look like they like to spice up their food. :D
Day 2 of asking. When the shadespire mordheim aaaamazing gaming table will be finished?
Can you do the white scars next, but probably Kor'sarro Khan. The model is kinda static and just looks pretty bad.
I love the conversions, but I feel like the flame trooper needs a stogie point out of his mouth
I LOVE them !
Amazing!!
You my friend are the AMAZING one....very very Cool✌️👍‼️
I loved this
Last I saw of the Ratlings in the lore there were a couple in 2 or 3 Warhammer Crime stories.
I did it the easy way - a couple of boxes of Wargames Atlantic’s Sneakfeet…Yeah, I can’t take them to tournaments, but since I don’t go to tournaments, I don’t care!!
These are rad!
Since I'm painting on a budget all I can do is wonder how my models will look if I was a decent painter
absolute mad lad
the imperial guard flaw is that they're not Kriegers.
I don't know why, but the flamethrower guy give me the impression that his name is "José"
(prononced with the Haute-Saône accent, "Jaw-sey")
Overall Derp Factor is very important.
How did you prevent the guitar string from unwinding! :O?
whats up squidman and lukas
What's down cat man and wargamer
@@SquidmarMiniatures nothing much mostly the ground
@1m48s a Squat with a lasgun is not a Ratling sniper 😛
"säg något negativt" Underbart!
The conversion looks great, but it feels off without a proper helmet and still keeping the kitchenware
Most fun in the 40K universe 😮
Ratling snipers have been in 40K lore ever since Rogue Trader.
What greenish color did you use for the NMM highlight on the pot helmet?
Diissa his truly Majjik I hesepcially likeda the saucer pan helmetha man.
Wargames Atlantic just released a hard plastic "Sneakfeet" proxy kit
These are nightmare fuel squats 😂
Combat Hobbits 🤣
I really like them I just wish you had been able to do do a helmet conversion. The pots as helmets seem out of place to me. It amazes me how much detail you can get in the painting. Awesome!
really wish you did something with the helmets
