  • In this episode, Uncle Daryl and Marsha bait lines with chicken gizzards (the stomach of the chicken) with hopes of catching turtles for a Turtle Sauce Piquante cookout. They stumble upon a box turtle that is attempting to find a safe place to lay eggs, knee deep and ice cold water, and most important of all, a Speckled Kingsnake.
Kingsnakes are common in woodlands, including marshes , throughout Louisiana west of the Mississippi and Atchafalaya River floodplains. Often discovered on the ground where they forage for other snakes, rodents, lizards, and turtle eggs. Speckled Kingsnakes are usually docile and harmless. They pose no threat to humans as they aren't venomous.
In future videos, Uncle Daryl and Marsha will run lines for trout, run crab pots for blue crab and fish on the Bayou. These videos will also include cleaning, cooking and eating the various wildlife that has been used to sustain people for many centuries.
