I haven’t seen it but i found out from reviewers that they changed the jackal from the mother to the father. Satan was the Jackal.. I guess they figured if Satan can be a snake in the Garden of Eden then why not a Jackal 🤷🤪 So the Jackal died and Satan left the body and threw the corpse in that graveyard??🤷 I was in no hurry to see this now i’m even in less in a hurry..🙄
Not really. Damien's final words are "You have won.....NOTHING!" And when OMEN IV came along we knew what he meant even though the film wasn't too good.
@@Emulous79 Laughable garbage is what it is ok the idea might have been a good idea but it just was completely screwed up with bad music and bad editing skills.
I absolutely love the trilogy, especially DAMIEN OMEN 2. I think the diabolical accidents that happen in that film are far far better than any of the "MOUSETRAP" stryle accidents in Final Destination movies.
I absolutely Hated First Omen. I went into it wanting to like it but it pissed me off. Its like the film makers never even watched the original Omen movies because they Retconned Damiens Origin. His Mother is supposed to be a Damn Jackal not some random Nun they also gave him a twin sister for no good reason. They also made it the church choice to bring about the son of satan instead of Devil Worshippers. They also messed up Father Brennan because in the original he was apart of the cult and had the 666 mark in this movie nope. Id rather watch Omen IV than this crap. Immaculate was way better because it was faster paced got to the point very bloody and has a higher body count. FIRST OMEN I HATED WITH A PASSION.
I saw this film in the theaters and thought it was disturbing and I liked it you have the father from The Witch in it. Like Nell Tiger Free’s acting and there is some scenes that made me turn to not watch but in a good way. This is the first Omen movie I watched before seeing the original.
I've only seen the original and the remake we don't talk about. But overall, I did like this one; it's well shot, and they nailed the look of the seventy's horror movie vibe. The acting is good, especially from the lady who plays Maragret, and I bought the friendship between her and Carlita (who the trailer completely did a 180 because I thought she was going to be Damien's mother). If you ask me, she did everything right in raising concern for how they treated Carlita. The lady who played the roommate was decent, but I didn't get a lot on her. They nailed the casting with Father Brennan because I do like Ralph Ineson as an actor. Bill Nighy is great too. That's where my positives end. I smelled red flags when it mentions the orphanage having its own hospital. And speaking of red flags, *WHY. THE HELL* are they releasing this film *ONLY* on Bluray?!? That's a bomb in my book. I nearly puked at the birth scene and the one at the end too. In a nutshell, I like this, but I didn't hate it like hard core Omen fans did. I would like to say that this and Immaculate would work on a double watch. 2024 is definitely working to be a better year for horror; like it starts off as trash with Night Swim but it picks up after Immaculate, this film and Late Night with the Devil came out.
I just finished this overall I liked it. To me this was easily the 2nd best film of the series. They changed some detaila to justify the story they were telling but it wasnt anything that super pissed me off. This movie isn't perfect and suffers from the same problems inherent to prequels in the fact you know where it has to go by the end. The movie also doesnt do anything new with the type of movie it is but what it did do I felt was well directed with good atmosphere overall. By the end what this movie felt like was a backdoor way to soft reboot the series. Meaning they wantee to toe directly into the first film and were probably going to ignore Omen 2 and 3 then if this did well do a direct sequel to the actual original Omen movie that involved these characters. I'm assuming the sequel would be about Damien trying to get in touch with his siater and probably wanting her to join him or something. They would probably play it as the sister child has super powers because shes also the spawn of the devil but that she's the good one between her and Damian and uses her powers to help people and fight off Damien and his cult. As is this movie bombed despite good reviees and audience reactions so a sequel is probably not happening if it anything else comes from this it will either be a sequel as a series for streaming or a Direct to DVD sequel. Unless they decide to pish ahead with a sequel anyway because of the good reviews and word of mouth. As is I liked the film but do I need to see more do I want a movie about the adventures of Damian and his sister em not sure because that could go horribly wrong lol. I think if someone enjoys the series they could easily just watch this one then go watch the actual first movie and the 2 sequels not counting the 4th cashgrab tv movie and just see that as the full story of Damian until his death in Omen 3.
I really enjoyed this film a lot really enjoyed Akasha Stevens direction and I really enjoyed the performance by Nell Tiger free who played Margaret I mean I appreciated that she went to extreme Lanks in terms of her acting performance. And this film it just really told a good compelling story. And I really feel that this film added more to the lore of the omen and I really appreciated that this film kept within the same vein and spirit of the original and I appreciated that it didn’t just rely on jump scares even though I know that there was a few jump scares in it, but they were very suspenseful jump scares. I felt they weren’t the type of jump, scares that you can see coming a mile away. And yes, this film is 10 million times better than the exorcist believer because yeah that film was just so fucking stupid but I wouldn’t say that this film was pointless. The remake was pointless because that film added nothing to the franchise because it was just a shot for shot remake of the original, so that right there is what makes it so pointless because what was the point of even making the remaking the first place if they weren’t gonna do anything different or interesting? What’s the point of doing it when the original is perfect. It’s like you’re trying to fix something that doesn’t need to be fixed. This spell was just made a lot better than the exorcist believer. It was directed a lot better and a lot better acted and just overall well written movie the exorcist believer was just riddled with bullshit. Now I’m not the biggest fan of prequel’s but if you’re gonna do it then do it right and I felt that this film did it right and I felt this film was made by people who love and respect the original and respect the source material. Although there were a few things that they could’ve done better with like there were a few flaws that made me say to myself honestly if they would’ve took that out of the film it wouldn’t really make that much of a difference because that whole sequence really didn’t need to be there but it’s whatever and I felt the film also went at a good decent pace. And I also appreciate that they brought back the score by Jerry Goldsmith, like the title track Ave Satani I thought it was really cool how they started playing that song as soon as Damien is born I thought that was a really nice touch. So yeah, all and all I really enjoyed this movie and honestly, I had low expectations for it, but I was not expecting it to be as good as it was, and I felt fucking relieved because the exorcist believer was such a disappointment and this film felt like a breath of fresh air.
How does it 'respect the source material' and 'help the lore' when they outright retconned stuff (like the "Mom was a jackal" and stuff that they just changed from the original film)?
I haven’t seen this yet but it still blows my mind how many people on here and critics are giving this BS the pass. I love the original Omen and Omen 2 and I can’t understand how some people have said The First Omen is the best since the original and better than Omen 2. Give me a break I’m not buying it. Damien is the first and only omen!
The worst prequel I’ve ever seen. So much retconning. Take for example at the end they say Thorn is “the ambassador to Rome”. Rome is a city, not a country! Besides, he wasn’t the ambassador in the original. He became the ambassador to England. And if her daughter is relevant at all then where’s she later in the franchise?
0:29 Me neither bro I've only seen the first 2 films at a younger age on HBO I do remember all the kills especially the elevator one with the late Meshach Taylor. I never botherd watch the 3rd or 4th films or the BS 2006 remake that John Moore directed either. 5:43 Well put Matt. 17:50-18:15 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sounds like another film in this franchise I'm still not interested in ever watching. Awesome job on the review bro👍👍
I might check out The First Omen 1 of these days, cuz I Love The 1st 2 Omen Films there 2 of my favorite horror films, Well Directed & Written Films, gave a Good Atmosphere, & Tension, My Only Issue is I didn't like that they both end with Damien getting away at the End, I didn't like Omen 3 & 4 are Generic & Forgettable Sequels IMO, I didn't like The 2006 Remake, Very Pointless, & just Cardboard Copy IMO, Great Job I Enjoyed your review Matt
I only saw the original Omen and the remake. I am one of the few that actually found the remake better than the original. Though I also saw the remake first, which could have influenced my decision. Not really interested in seeing this one.
I Agree Exorcist: Believer is a Terrible & Crappy Horror Sequel or Remake, or whatever it was trying to be of the Original Exorcist, thats 1 of the Worst Films of 2023 IMO
This film was creepy to the max. OK, it's not accurate to the original. Almost a prequel/reboot scenario but then again, so was Fury Road. I felt seriously uncomfortable watching this one so I praise the lady who pulled it off. Not enough female directors.

They changed all of the good stuff and made it lame
No jackal
No satanic cult
This movie is a joke
Yeah as a Big Omen guy this movie pissed me off. Changing the lore means I consider it not canon.
What's odd about The Final Conflict is that Jesus wins. You see this very rarely.
Not really. Damien's final words are "You have won.....NOTHING!" And when OMEN IV came along we knew what he meant even though the film wasn't too good.
