Thank you so much….so much helpful information. My adult son passed this April , he lived with me….so I am trying to garden to help me keep me busy! I am in NJ
PlantNet check, i was going to get picture this recently, but I doubt I'd use it enough to be worth the cost a month. Glad you shared yours. I see there's 5 thumbs down today, honestly how miserable do you have to be to thumbs down this video, blows my mind. Keep 'em coming 543 of us appreciate you.!
@@judithjohnson2111 I often wonder if it's the same people who thumbs down some of the other channels I watch, funny how it seems to be the same amount at times.?
Here's the good news about all the thumbs - The algorithm doesn't count the thumbs down as a negative action! It counts ALL thumbs as "interaction" with the video, which is good for Yulia. So just as the others said, it doesn't matter that those thumbs are pointing down. Even if they are "haters", they get counted as a positive interaction w the video! How's that for fixing their negative wagons!!
Stay away from "Picture This". Half the time you have to choose among half a dozen or so different plants rather than the app telling you what the plant is. I've complained to the author, but they say it's my fault because I don't take good photos. Lousy app...you have to do the work for them.
This is all new to me, I think I'll stay with my drawings it gives me more freedom. But on the other hand, I like prompt results of these aps. Thanks Yuliya for pointing 👉these out to us.
Talk about a pro picture taker! Look at you snapping that pic of the elephant ear over your shoulder and behind you!! Ha!!! Impressive move Yulia!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Great info on the apps! I haven't checked to see if they are all available for both iPhone AND Android, but I do know Picture This works on Android, which is what I have. Thanks for sharing ❤
😂😂😂 and don’t forget liriope! Or forsythia! “Larry-Opie” and “forCynthia”. A friend and I imitate an online pronunciation recording of liriope for a good laugh - one of them has a very deep male voice. Agastache works really well for that joke too. I am clearly a garden nerd. 😂
Thanks so much. Just downloaded Plant Net which I used to identify Hinoki Falsy Cypress. I'm giving it away so I can plant a Grevillea, but wasn't sure what it was as I didn't plant it. Great app, thanks Yulia.
You must have been reading my mind! I've been stuck for a while now in my front yard concerning trees as we don't have any professional designers in my area. Perhaps now, I will be able to continue...thanks SO much for the information. I truly appreciate you sharing your professional knowledge.
For some reason I thought my coffee cup elephant ear needed full sun and now I know it doesn’t, I’m glad you mentioned that in the video, I will relocate it ASAP, awesome video as always, Yulia
I use Picture This for identification, but it's frequently wrong, but also frequently right...and the best thing about it is that it gives you advice when it identifies pests or disease. Thanks SO much for doing this video.
I use this app too. I frequently test it just to make sure! 🤭 9 times out of 10 it is right on the mark. One thing I am not liking is that this app does have to download EVERY picture in my phone before it let's me choose the photo in question. So that's a bit invasive if anyone cares about that.
Last year I had a volunteer “something” growing in a border. Picture This identified it as a common weed (can’t remember what) but I had my suspicions and just left it to grow. This year it came back and delivered the loveliest red tubular blooms - Firecracker Penstemon! Glad I didn’t yank it! Thank you to the birds for planting up my garden. ☺️
@@jennifersauer3257 you'll know if it is downloading all your pics when you have to choose from all your photos in order to get to the plant photo you want to ID.
So very helpful! I especially need the Lumos app! I have a heavily shaded yard in a hot sunny area, so it has been tricky to find the right plant for the available areas. Thank you so much Yulia!
Thank you so much for developing this video! I was just looking for apps to help me design 2 beds I am working on for our golf course. Your videos are outstanding!,!!
Thank you for doing this video. I have never seen anyone else do this. I already use plantnet and have been looking for something to gage the amount of Sun in an area. Lumos looks good but I can't find it in my play store as I have a note 10 Android. What does the app look like? Thanks again for this great video ❤
Great video. Looking forward to using the PlantNet app. The others I use are not always accurate. That sun tracker looks awesome. How cool that it can show you the amount of sun at the different hours. Amazing.
This is such great information! I'm in the middle of renovating our backyard now and visualizing a work-in-progress plan while taking into account sun exposure/seasonal changes will be tremendously helpful. Thanks much Yulia!
This was so awesome Yuliya!! Just downloaded the Lumos app. I am always struggling with the actual amount of sun certain garden areas receive. I am now out in my yard playing with my new toy.
YAY! I really need these Apps right now! I just had new walkways and a patio installed so lots of opportunities for landscaping around them. Thank you!
Siting purple/black shade plants like Actaea 'Hillside Black Beauty' can be especially tricky -- maximizing color without crisping up. Thank you for making this so much easier --- with a suntracker.
Very helpful! Have you discovered any other useful apps since you did this video? Also, any recommendations on software with creating a site survey to scale?
I love this! I've used Picture This with mixed results and now they want to charge so a free app that works well is a great find! Also Lumos sounds like something I need too! Thank you!!!

I never really thought about it, just thought about how Yulia and others feel seeing those.

@gardengatesopen I opt just to use the in app option for photos. Is it still accessing all photos?
