Your pots look majestic behind you...I can't believe how large and lush they already are! Thank you for the lantana updates and I learned about a few new ones. I do love the pollinators visiting them on a daily basis!
Love all the lantana plants they are going to look gorgeous in your garden. The purple trailing lantana is perfect in your big containers trailing over. Your containers on your porch are looking stunning.
Thank you for your consistent postings. I look forward to them almost every morning. Personally, I am excited to see what others are doing in their gardens. Please don’t let the lack of comments discourage you. You are doing a fantastic job. 🌺
Your front porch looks so colorful and lush. I'm getting ready to pull out pansies and violas and put in lantana. My back garden is more part sun/shade but lantana still does very well for me. The direct sun, I get, is mid day and afternoon so perhaps that is why they flower so well even without full sun. Have fun with your kids.
I can't even imagine gardening in such a hot climate! You're so dedicated! I live in a much cooler climate, but the days can get very hot and dry in the summer.
Those roots from the old Lantana plants are huge. Never seen those before. Really excited for seeing what all those will look like as the season carries on. You pick wonderful colours. Mostly like the colours I would choose. I don't those warm degrees but you make me feel hot and like you said it is not even noon yet. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Howdy 🤠 Fellow N Texas Gardner here. Love lantana! I grow it in a couple different varieties and it gets huge in my south facing garden. My garden takes a beating facing south with full sun and extreme heat all day everyday but my lantana doesn’t skip a beat! I always say it laughs at the sun 😅 Your garden is Beautiful 😍 and it’s my goals 🩷
Annual lantana is a go-to full sun summer plant for me too (Atlanta 8a). Deer & rabbits don’t eat it. I’ve never fertilized mine and it always does well. I buy the smallest plants I can find because lantana is a vigorous grower.
Looking forward to seeing how the lantana progresses. I have several lantana, but can't remember the specifics on them. They are definitely perennials as I've had them for several years. A couple of purple ones and the rest with orange/yellow flowers. I've also wondered how you could just plop down and sit on the grass without getting attacked by ants. You're lucky. Love your gloves as I have some that look exactly like them and they are great. They wash and wear beautifully (think I got them on Amazon). Yes, kiddos will be out of school soon and know you'll be enjoying some extra time with them.
You made me laugh when you said you don't get bit because you're not sweet! LOL I say that about myself ALL the time - I'm the one not bit by mosquitoes, ants, etc. (but a wasp will seek me out!) Enjoy your summer with your kiddos! I miss mine being home! Summertime is the BEST! We'll be here in your skinny minutes! :)
I have planted lantana in the front of my garden beds (Texas gold). I have them 18 inches to 2 feet from the edge and every summer several times I have cut them back otherwise they are in the way of grass mowing as they spread. I would suggest planting them at least 3 feet away from the edge to avoid the issue I have had.
Love your channel! I'm in N. FL, I have several Lantanas, but I don't know the variety. My lantanas come back each year on the new growth. Those in the ground n in pots, but they usually come back slow. Once it gets hot they grow like crazy. I notice with my lantanas, with single colors seems to grow faster n spread larger then the multi colors. I clip a few steams put soil on them or put them in a pot n they grow. They remind me of my azaleas. Allow a piece of the azalea to touch the soil n they grow roots. Cut it off the mother plant n you have a new azalea plant.
Looks amazing. Spent some time in that area attending TCU and remember the triple digits well. I am now 10 miles from the Texas coast. Gives a whole new definition to humidity.
I have lantana all around my yard growing mostly under trees. I would love to get the trailing variety to add to my containers. I ordered a couple of sun loving clematis and I think it would look stunning with them.
Now, I want to plant Lantana again😂 Last year I planted in containers some I rescue from Lowe’s and they just came back with the rain. Enjoy your summer!!!
Ive planted different lantana before. Its perennial here in so California. Im using containers now as i live in an apartment. I finally found a new 2024 variety called passion fruit which is more compact for containers with the yellow to fushia flowers. Just came into the garden center so i paid 6.99 for a 4 inch pot.
Hi Amanda. The flowers behind you on your patio are beautiful. I had Lantana last year that did very well. I also had Pentas planted with it. I really liked the Pentas because of the fullness of their blooms. Also I enjoy the blooms of pinks, purple, fuchsia and whites. Which the Pentas seems to have more color choices. ☺️
Zone 8a NC. My lantana does return but I know there are some varieties that don’t . Mine is fairly drought tolerant. Though we do some overhead watering. I have no issues with spreading.
vinca, aka periwinkles, are fantastic summer bloomers. Some actually have a cascading growth pattern. I've been advised to only purchase the "Cora" strain of vinca as they are improved and do not suffer from dieback like the old fashioned varieties do. Here in my Houston zone 9b area, the vinca have actually reseeded so I have them coming up here and there. I simply dig the small seedlings and move them to where I want them. I never liked periwinkle of years ago but I'm thrilled with this constant blooming Cora variety!😊 Hope this helps.
Ok i found a few plant tags im trying to save now. Besides the passion fruit, im growing purple falls and one called Lucky sunrise rose. Trying all in containers
I love Lantana especially the confetti variety, I can only seem to get the purple one here in Australia but I’ll be looking for the confetti ones this year. I find Vinca very good in my garden as we get triple digits too and it does so well and nothing eats it either which is a great bonus. 😊
I'm so jealous of your lack of ants! Mine get in my raised beds so bad! I have yet to find a good solution. My new gold and dallas red did not return a few years ago, but still enjoyed them for a season.
A kettle of boiling water, slowly trickled over the mound does the trick. I had a mound in the corner of a raised bed, close to a plant, and managed to kill the ants and not the plant.
Love watching your posts! I’m in League City Texas and I know your heat! Trying to learn from you what plants will last in our heat. Thanks for what you do!
I planted more lantana this year than I have in the past. I have areas by my driveway and mailbox that are full sun and no shade at any point of the day. I detest working there in the heat. The heat is made worse because of the brick and concrete. Lantana to the rescue. It gets big to cover a lot of the soil and it requires very little attention. I have irrigation in the area and I am hoping to do very little there during the horrid heat we get here in north Texas.
🌺Hello, watching this video, curious about the beautiful dark burgundy plants in the background where your sitting and did you buy them as a plant or plant from seed? I have so much enjoyed your channel, Learning so much, I am in coast of VA zone 8 too. Thank you so much for sharing all this information. I just love how you get right into planting and telling us the how to’s.
Going on a Lantana hunt today! I’m setting up a new full sun bed. Thanks for all your great videos. Do you dig and divide your perennials in the fall or wait for spring to do that?
Great video! I have all the zinnia seeds you’ve picked from SwallowTail, and ready to start the fall annual sowing. You offered to video the seed sowing when you get started. When will that be?
When should i order seeds for fall planting in the ground and for starting seeds in starter pots? Do you have a calendar of what & when to pla, or a reference, or experience to rely on? This is Beth in Georgetown, north of Austin, zone 9a, and we are hitting triple digits now. Is there a way i can share pics of my color pots with you?
Even though it’s hot as the blazes and I told myself I was done planting just planted luscious royale cosmo today, it was 7.00 and just looked too pretty to pass up. It will probably get too big for the space but what can you do?
Your pots look majestic behind you...I can't believe how large and lush they already are! Thank you for the lantana updates and I learned about a few new ones. I do love the pollinators visiting them on a daily basis!
Yes my shade pots are doing great this year!
Love all the lantana plants they are going to look gorgeous in your garden. The purple trailing lantana is perfect in your big containers trailing over. Your containers on your porch are looking stunning.
Yay! I’m so excited to see how the lantana does!
Thank you for your consistent postings. I look forward to them almost every morning. Personally, I am excited to see what others are doing in their gardens. Please don’t let the lack of comments discourage you. You are doing a fantastic job. 🌺
I appreciate that!
Those lantana are going to be so beautiful. I could hear the leaves on the ground crunching. Glad you have drip for those babies.
Drip helps so much!
I'm with you! No bit holes in my garden if I can help it, The plant will eventually grow, and I am patient. I will just mulch around it to look neat.
Yes, I am not a fan of digging holes!
Your front porch looks so colorful and lush. I'm getting ready to pull out pansies and violas and put in lantana. My back garden is more part sun/shade but lantana still does very well for me. Sounds great!
Wow! Your porch is bursting with color and life! Gorgeous 😍
Thank you so much!
I can't even imagine gardening in such a hot climate! You're so dedicated! I live in a much cooler climate, but the days can get very hot and dry in the summer.
It’s hot but I still love gardening 🩷

Howdy from another N Texas gardener. You have the same situation as me and I love how you put it - lantana laughs at the sun. Love it. So true!!
Lantana does so great in the hot weather!
Can’t wait to see the troughs! And you are sweet!😊
Thank you!!

I wish I had your energy! You always have really good info. Thank you 😊
Aww thanks!

You are a garden warrior!!🤘I feel accomplished just watching you get so much done in your garden!😂
Yes! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your passion for gardening. Your gardens look
beautiful .
Thanks for visiting!
Love lantana. Feels like it's the only thing that survives in our coastal FL zone 10a 😂
🌷🌷🌷
I like it when you said you can grow lots of grass at your flower bed but not at actual lawn. Same here 😏😁
😂😂😂
Looks amazing. Spent some time in that area attending TCU and remember the triple digits well. I am now 10 miles from the Texas coast. Gives a whole new definition to humidity.
Oh wow!
I’m in north Texas zone 8b. Planted first time in containers Miss Huff lantana and chapel yellow lantana in ground. Hoping they will return.
Yay!
I have lantana all around my yard growing mostly under trees. I would love to get the trailing variety to add to my containers. I ordered a couple of sun loving clematis and I think it would look stunning with them.
Ooo, that would be pretty!
Now, I want to plant Lantana again😂 Last year I planted in containers some I rescue from Lowe’s and they just came back with the rain. Enjoy your summer!!!
You should!
I have a few of those troughs as veggie beds and they work pretty good for me as wicking beds. Love this channel, so inspiration (I'm up in VT zone5b)
Awesome! Thank you!

I’ll need to look that one up!
Can't wait to see the explosion of Lantana!! Enjoy more time with your kids 😊
I’m excited for the lantana … and summer with my kids!

Something has eaten my Pentas the last few years!

Something in my garden likes to eat them but I’m going to give them another try 🩷
I'm in south central KS 7A zone. I grow Lantana every year to attract butterflies and hummers. I also plant Pentas. 🙂
Wonderful! Something in my garden loves to eat Pentas!
I am in the hill country zone 8b.I love Lantanas, but mine are wild ones. We cut them back and come back so pretty.
That’s awesome!
Ok i found a few plant tags im trying to save now. Besides the passion fruit, im growing purple falls and one called Lucky sunrise rose. Trying all in containers
Ooo, those sound pretty!

Awesome! Thank you!
I am trying more lantana too. Sometimes is suffers a little from too much rain in Florida
Agreed … it doesn’t like to be overwatered.
I look forward to all your videos… fellow north Texas gardener.
Awesome! Thank you!
Just planted some PW lantana (Luscious Goldengate) in some pots with Blue My Mind Evolvulus. Gorgeous colors!
Very nice!

It’s great for areas like what you are describing.
Great garden. Thanks for sharing. ⚘️🌻🌼🌺
Thanks!
I just planted lantana waiting on my explosion of color
Yay!

They are coleus and I did grow them from seed!
Going on a Lantana hunt today! I’m setting up a new full sun bed. Thanks for all your great videos. Do you dig and divide your perennials in the fall or wait for spring to do that?
I prefer to dig and divide them in the fall!
❤❤❤

I always forget about Lantana. I will see if you can buy seeds.
🌷🌷🌷
Great video! I have all the zinnia seeds you’ve picked from SwallowTail, and ready to start the fall annual sowing. You offered to video the seed sowing when you get started. When will that be?
The end of this month or beginning of next!

Order now! Will be starting my fall seeds by the end of May or beginning of June.
Yes, you can email me at shesamadgardener@gmail.com
Will pre-annual lantana come back in Kansas?
I’m not familiar with your zone, so you will need to check the plant tags to see if they will come back in your zone.
Even though it’s hot as the blazes and I told myself I was done planting just planted luscious royale cosmo today, it was 7.00 and just looked too pretty to pass up. It will probably get too big for the space but what can you do?
Just enjoy!

I will buy the smallest plants I can find because I hate diggings holes LOL
SAME!
Propagation?
Yes, lantana can be propagated.
