Yeah, they measured it 10 feet in front of the plate, and it registered 100.9 mph, and when backed up to today's standard it would read 108.6 Which is even crazierbos it only measured strikes, so high fastballs went recorded
I've never seen pitches illustrated with the over lay you use here. Both extremely educational and entertaining. A college pitcher throwing 104 mph? Unbelievable.
Kendall Graveman!!! Throwing Greg Maddux 2 seamers at 96 mph! Nasty movement. It's great he got to meet Maddux on the road one season with Oakland and had a great talk and advice from Maddux. All about movement. Graveman took that conversation to heart. Glad to see him succeeding out of the bullpen and having a great career. If I'm not mistaken Graveman had Tommy John. I know he was out for awhile. Has made his way all the way back. So happy for him.
I don’t even watch baseball but I subscribed and watch every one of your videos. Lol. Love the content! Some of these guys are so nasty it’s just unfair🤯
See my video on whether Ryan threw 108. There were a ton of misreadings that game and it was a new technology, that was never used again at a baseball game. Very doubtful it was accurate.
idk its just a feel thing. When I pitch I constantly adjust my hat. One of my teammates readjusts his glove and another one even fills the landing spot in front of the mound after every pitch... on turf. Pitches do weird stuff to keep their rhythm going.
I think so much more for Gallen. Alcantrara always had mid to high 4 ERAs throughout all minor levels where Gallen was dominant at every level every year
Bassitt looks just like Kevin Brown from the marlins? Yankees etc. And brown used to throw a good sinker as well. But man his mechanics and pitching motion/windup looks just like brown.
Wow. I've lost my love for the game... sports in general... but that was some excellent pitching, and even better analysis and breakdown. And Joyce... HOLY SMOKES!!!
Randy Johnson used to keep a basket of baseballs by his bed side to missile some unfortunate intruder that breaks in... imagine Ben Joyce doing the same?? Granted that's 105 at 60 feet... it'll be like mach speed at 10 feet??
Saw a teammate get hit in his side by 99mph.. it literally left seam imprints on his skin. It was like someone got a baseball and just stamped it on him. Nasty bruise too
@@HK-jz5sz I got hit on my elbow in high school by I'd say an 80+ mph fastball, just got me clean in the elbow. Hurt so bad and it left a seam imprint on my skin too. So I can only imagine 99. After I got on base I guess I missed a hit and run sign which I rarely missed a sign and my coach was livid with me. I remember thinking damn man, I just got drilled in my elbow and couldn't even think straight.. that kid throwing that day threw what I call a heavy fastball. A solid guy on the mound.
The fact that my struggling Mariners got swept recently in Miami is a little easier to take seeing their filthy pitchers featured here today and yesterday. Definitely an underrated, much-improved, dark horse team. They’re a team that deserves to be on the rise.
"Fastest pitch in the Statcast era" Nolan Ryan was not in the Statcast era and that 108.1 is highly debated as accurate. I think 103-104 is more accurate for the pitch thrown if the speed was clocked half way to the plate and not at the plate. I think the error comes with people assuming the 108 was measured at exactly the moment the ball crossed instead of it being in front which was more likely.
@@colinrosen5866 True abt statcast era, some research has been done tho and when the pitch is measured coming out of hid hand, in the modern day way, he threw 108.1 on the gun
I would schedule my day off every time I see Ben Joyce on the card
I call him “off night” because if he’s on the mound… your gonna have a off night
Make sure you watch him early because he’ll probably blow his arm out inside of 2 years in the majors
@@mannyr8795 I mean, let’s not try to jynx the kid lol.

Zach Gallen..that guy is for real!!..💪⚾️🔥
Hey Ninja! What's something you'd like to see more of from pitchers? I know I'd like to see more submariners and knuckleballers.
Great call James, would love to see some more knuckleballers. How bout a submariner who throws a knuckler? That would be a party lol
More submariners for sure. The guy on the Giants is fun to watch!
I love love the idea of pitchers getting to keep the hitters helmets on nasty k’s
Ha--I just made that up...but maybe we can make that a thing?
And keep their bats if they fly out their hands. Even more rare than an uncrowned batter, but just that much more coveted.
We can just call a rising sinker a… riser😏
A rinker!

Other leagues specialize in movement. They do just fine. Fastballs aren't the only way to get strikes and most of these dudes don't get that.
always a good day when DM is featured

Thank you!
I need to make a trip to UTK to see Joyce pitch this summer

With the amount of pitchers currently doing it, im going to assume its where the tack is now kept.

I saw a comment that said Ben Joyce throws too hard for metal bats.
Kirby Connells has great hair especialy considering he wears a hat all the time, in the sun, use of sunscreen on his face. Yea, bravo dude.
Isn't it that Josh hader also throws a rising sinker? Ive checked his savant page and the only fastball he throws are sinkers
Clay Holmes is throwing 99. What?! I don’t remember any of that when he played for the Pirates
Little suspicious. Reminds of a night in Pittsburgh when Bartolo Colon at age 40 was throwing 99 mph with Oakland. Lol

Ben Joyce hit 105.5 a little while ago, didn’t he?
Yes. Not as a starting pitcher though. This was the fastest pitch thrown by a starter.

That nickname was coined on the Tony Basilio radio show out of Knoxville.
