I actually listened to the audiobook thanks to that video... I was horrendously dissapointed to find that the Minecraft Movie wasn't just Jack Black going insane trying to understand the completely arbitrary laws of Cubes Land on an island
I just thought that clay tablets could have been a way for Toph to read and write. She could bend them in such a way that they would show the symbols/text she wanted, and if somebody else wanted to leave a note for her, they would use some kind of stylus like they did in ancient Mesopotamia.
@@johannageisel5390 That would then require someone to teach toph to read and write. Which she might reject out of spite and a desire to continue her running gag every time someone tries to show her something on a piece of paper.
Of frickin course Jack Black did the audio book for a Minecraft novelization. Next you're gonna tell me he's playing Steve in a Minecraft film adaptation!
The three bears' beds made me think of a great aunt and uncle who used two different twin mattresses in a queen size frame - he was wheelchair bound and she didn't want to kick him at night.
I don't like that they made Toph a cop, BUT headcanon: Toph came up with both something akin to Braille so she could learn to read/write AND a sort of typewriter, obviously paying someone to make the things for her since she's blind, so she could get paperwork done without having to recite boring stuff to a proper scribe.
She wouldn’t even need to type for that. Considering she is refined and precise enough at earth bending to create a tiny ba sing se out of sand complete with a tiny Earth King and Bosco she could probably carve it out of clay or stone.

Most ink used to be mineral based. Even up to the 1980's mineral based inks were common with vegetable inks only effectively replacing them in the mid-90's to 2000's. SO, in the context of AtLA she could likely read most writing IF it was written with mineral pigments and in direct contact. She could also likely apply the ink with Earth-Bending.
@@ckl9390 it’d be a problem to have the inks adhere to the paper if all she could bend was the mineral components and not its medium. I think with this method she’d be able to read but not write
If I've said it once, I've said it a THOUSAND times: Tumblr writers would abaolutely, 100% *_STOMP_* all of Hollywood given so much as three dollars and thank you note.
so many great stories here. but I have to go with Evil Chancellor Traytor. if those were my siblings I'd have probably been the sibling who watched it intently like a soap opera
I once had a work in progress that was basically "our modern world, but Eris, Goddess of Chaos, turned the world into something like Bill Cypher's Weirdmageddon but playful and fun," wherein one of the characters was a zombie who was a lawyer. The proper term for zombie in his world was either "undead citizen" or "living impaired." Though the latter also included ghosts and possibly vampires.
Sounds fun! And it reminds me a little to a dead rights activist from Terry Pratchett's Discworld: His name is Reginald "Reg" Shoe. He actually died in a revolution but then kept going.
Just checked out the audiobook previews. Jack Black's was fun, but there's a genuine sense of urgency and confusion in Samira Wiley's recording that makes it stand out. Looking forward to listening to the full story!
In a D&D campaign I ran there was an NPC named Baron von Nifenbach. He was a former adventurer (rogue to be specific) who was a good, competent ruler over the area the campaign was set in. The king, who was also staying there for some reason, had no idea what he was doing. The main plot of the campaign was a dragon (that the Baron actually knew) causing an endless thunderstorm because one of her friends kids got killed by a wizard (that the Baron also knew, they were in the same adventuring party thirty years back). Anyways, Baron von Nifenbach had to keep going behind the king's back to hire the players to actually deal with the problem.
I need a playlist of all the Bettina Levy background music to be honest. Preferrably on Spotify so I can add "Butterfly Sonata" to it. And if nobody's going to do it, I might just do it myself. However I cannot guarantee all the pieces to be included in that case, so I would prefer someone else who can guarantee that to do it if so possible.
Not to ruin the M:tG one, but... there was a whole tribe of four-armed snake people in original Kamigawa. Yeah, they laid eggs, canonically, some of the cards were very specific about it, and the females had the, umm, let's say mammalian features. Very prominent mammalian features in at least one example. It's not something the game gets 'right' all the time, or at all, depending on the setting. In their defense, this was their first 'Japan'-themed set. And, well... "Oh, Japan, never change," and all that.
I saw Villain Zillow, and for a second thought this was just going to be a documentary of all the evil things the real Zillow had done. Also, how do you not call your Villain Zillow "Villow"? It's right there.
Ok but Evil Chancellor Traitor story seems a little bit like something Batman actually would do, let people believe he was a bad person as he did as much good for the city as possible
Apologies, this video is made up of my older videos, when I used to be bad at getting the sound mix right. I like to think I've improved a little on that front over the years. 😅

Zuko going, "She's my scribe." Is the BEST deadpan line I've heard in a HOT MINUTE (>◡

Stork won it for me. Somehow it made me tear up. Evil Chancellor Traitor was a close second.
The three bears' beds made me think of a great aunt and uncle who used two different twin mattresses in a queen size frame - he was wheelchair bound and she didn't want to kick him at night.
The Jane Austen bee story had me cackling like a mad woman
Definetly Evil President Traytor for me, though Stork is similarly wholesome.
These are all so beautiful, but Evil Chancellor Traytor is my favourite, though Senior Year is the one I'd most want to watch as a real movie
Senior Year sounds AWESOME
Of course it does; it's just Soul Man, but without the blackface.
I love the stork vulcan bit! It's one of my favorites.
I would love to see Stork appear in some episode of Star Trek.

I'd do it for a can of arizona

RM stands for ringgit Malaysia which is Malaysian currency, so they're saying they'd do it for the Malaysian equivalent of a dollar
Senior Year was very good, Snake Woman got me good, but always been a huge fan of Stork the Vulkan. So Stork takes it!
I forgot to mention, but the Evil Chancellor Traytor was super cute. Love the creativity of that story.
