This is awesome thanks!! However I remain confused - HOW exactly are the ISRC #'s matched to the ISWC?? Mastering engineers only embed an ISRC on metadata.
Thanks for watching! Don’t over think things. ISRC is matched to the recording. The ISWC is matched to the name. When you properly register your works, with the proper information information lines up.
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy thanks appreciate that - doesn't always match though as some writers with the same names get the others royalties - would it be worth putting both numbers on metadata?

Question! I registered my song to BMI, but it shows up without an ISWC code. I am the only Author and Performer of the song (100% Me). Any chance you can help me find out why? Thank you!
Great vid huge thanks for the golden info. Small question..what if you co-write a song but one writer is not (say) BMI member. e.g. I have credited a co-writer via CDbaby on a song as an unafilliated writer with his name ..do I still get a ISWC? or does he have to join (say) BMI first?
you're welcome! Yes, he will have to join one of the performing rights organizations in order for an ISWC number to be assigned to the song. Thanks for watching!
I registered my song with BMI. I just recieved my ISWC code. How do I embed the ISWC code into the metadata? The studio says they will attatch their own ISRC number to the song for distribution to digital platforms. The studio will then recieve a check for all sales and streams. Then the studio will in turn, distribute my part to me. But what about radio play? Im understanding that without my ISWC codes in the metadata, I won't be paid for radio play. I asked the studio. They said they don't know anything about ISWC codes. They only use their own ISRC.
Radio only needs the ISRC code. The ISWC is only needed for registrations where required (SoundExchange etc). Question: Why won’t you distribute your own music and collect your own money? You can choose a digital distributor and do that yourself! Here’s my video explaining how to embed codes: th-cam.com/video/PQjVxOZROHs/w-d-xo.html
The song is assigned an ISWC code when that song is registered with ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or GMR, whichever performing rights organization that represents that song. So either the songwriter, the Music Publishing or Music Publishing Administrator or whoever administers the right for the song will register the song with a PRO, and a number will be assigned.
I have a few different recorded versions of a song I wrote and copyrighted. Do I understand this correctly that there will be a unique ISRC number for each version but only one ISWC which is for the work underlying all versions? Thank you Mariea, your videos have helped me very much.
Please help! I am the only writer an author of my music. And about 5 days ago registered my songs on BMI after I had released them through distributor. And there is no ISWC. What do I do? How should I solve this situation?
Abimael Alburquerque thanks for watching! As I stated in the video, either some information is missing, or the registration is new and has not been assigned one yet for the song. Are you the only writer on the song?
@@TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy Thanks for your answer. I know that. What i'm asking is other thing. How do you link ISRC codes to ISWC codes? Because, as we know, one is attached to a master/recording and the other to the composition/author. But, when a certain composition is played/streamed/performed somewhere, how does the author gets his/her royalties from a song he/she created if those codes aren't linked to each other?
@@emilianofrugoni everything is linked through the proper registrations of your songs. Some ask for different information. You input the codes as asked.

Since the ISWC code is for the original recording, does the original recording need an ISRC code?
