    Oh my gosh! I love Rode Connect! I have owned my NT-USB Mini for a year now and I have been recording my podcast through Audacity. I was never completely happy with the sound no matter what I tried, but with the Rode Connect, the sound is so much better! It's amazing! Crisp, clear! Thank you so much, Rode!!!

    Regarding the Voicemeeter, Banana or Potato software mentioned, it is worth noting that the software is not really "free" -- a donation is actually expected if you continue using it beyond an initial testing phase... but that only applies to "personal" usage. However, if using for corporate or other non-personal institutions, there is a license fee.

    I just bought a regular RODE NT USB (not mini) and I have a couple of quick questions:
    1) can you hook it up to rode connect without voice meeter ?
    2) is there a way you can cut out audio portions directly from rode connect, or do you necessarily need an editing audio software such as audacity ?

    Hey, Kevin! Excellent video! I have a question for you. I noticed that you also have a Rode NT-USB (the original one). I tried to connect it following your instructions on tying a different mic since this microphone is not supported by the software yet. When I try to use Rode Connect software with OBS and Zoom Meeting is giving me all kinds of error messages. Have you tried to use the Rode NT-USB with the Rode Connect Software on OBS so that you can use OBS as your virtual camera on Zoom Meeting and Rode Connect manages all the audio, including your pc and your mic?

    • @xgerlachx
      @xgerlachx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you ever work this out? I have a (not mini) NT-USB and it doesn't register in the Connect software. It seems strange to me that it wouldn't be applicable

    • @ivanremus1
      @ivanremus1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xgerlachx, yes. I contacted Rode. The short answer was that they will add other microphones, but Rode NT-USB won't be one of them.
      I still can use my Rode NT-USB. Here is how:
      My Rode NT-USB us connected to the computer via USB for power purposes. From the headphones jack on the microphone, I connected a TRS Cable (from the Rode NT-USB to my Atem Mini Pro audio input jack.) On my Atem Mini Pro software, I specify the input as a "Line input ". (Remember, the headphone jack is not a mic level but a line level.) On OBS, I control all my elements of my scenes very easily. Video input is my Atem Mini Pro. My audio input is is also coming from my Atem Mini Pro. I know I need to sit down and review my settings because sometimes I might have echo when I share my computer audio while sharing my screen. But I rarely need to share my computer audio, so it hasn't been a big issue for me.

    Good job and Good game, mate but why do you use Stream Input and not Virtual Input as a Zoom microphone? In this way you're sending the zoom guests voice back to them (with a delay). Ok, Zoom use a good feedback canceling but it's good to send back a real Mix Minus (provided by the Virtual Input) and not the Program. Anyway, really thanks for your tips!

    • @brandomaxwell
      @brandomaxwell 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I may have the answer. The Røde Mini USB is a condenser mic, which means it's super-sensitive to echo and room noises in an untreated room. People address this by turning its GAIN down to 20dB, which is pretty low. I have a feeling that plugging it into your compy's phone jack effectively turned the gain down for you bc its analog pickup is much lower than a USB's.
      Regardless, if minimizing the gain on your mic doesn't work to eliminate room noise, try RØDE Connect's noise gate function in the Advanced menu. If that STILL doesn't work, then consider recording in a sound treated room or getting a dynamic mic (like the PodMic USB), which picks up FAR less room noise but needs to be placed within 6" of the audio source.

    Thanks for the video! I had a challenge with getting the audio to OBS:
    1. When I have RØDE Connect audio coming into OBS, and play audio from a youtube video, it transmits to OBS successfully via the System Sounds channel. However, if I got to any music (youtube or on my PC), it somehow does not transmit. Is this some kind of HDCP?
    2. Lastly, none of my sound effects transmit from RØDE Connect except for the "Sad Trombone", ironically. If I do another sound during the sad trombone at the same time, it will go through... so it's almost like certain "frequencies" of sound transmit.

    • @KevinStratvert
      @KevinStratvert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's likely the reason Rode invested in Rode Connect 😎. Until this release, Elgato had similarly priced mics with a free mixing solution, which could be a deciding factor for purchasing. I haven't personally used Wave 1 / 3 or WaveLink, although my guess is that the quality is pretty similar. Their software has also been out a little longer so they likely have richer functionality at this point (it looks like it supports up to 9 channels, but only one WaveLink mic at a time). Elgato may also have an advantage in that all their products work well together (e.g. capture cards feed into their mixing solution flawlessly). It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

    Thank you for the video which explains a lot well. However, I still have one essential question:
    I have the great Rode VideoMic Go II mounted on my monitor and use it for my MS Teams video meetings on Windows. The sound of my voice is much better when I configure the microphone in the Rode Connect software. For this I enable the four DSP effects built into the microphone Noise Gate, Compressor, Exciter, Big Bottom.
    After a reboot, these effects are unfortunately no longer enabled. I.e. I have to start Rode Connect manually after each reboot of Windows, so that the DSP effects are switched on again on the microphone.
    Does anyone know of a way to have the DSP effects automatically applied to the microphone (automatically) after each Windows reboot?
    Is there any way to have Rode Connect start automatically (minimized/in the background)?
    Many thanks for your ideas and hints.

    • @P-U-S-S

      Same use case here too.
      I don't have the mic yet (coming tomorrow I hope) but if its a case of having to open rode connect when booting windows then there maybe a solution.
      Do you have to turn on the effects again or do the just enable auto when you launch Rode connect?
      I suggest you look into Windows task scheduling. Its built into windows and can automatically launch programs when you boot into windows. I'm not sure how to use it, I'd need a tutorial, which shouldn't be hard to find.
      Good luck :D

      @@P-U-S-S Thanks for the hint. as soon as Rode Connect is started, the settings are applied. Unfortunately the software can not run minimized. I hope that Rode will add the DSP settings to the driver directly as it is available for other brands.

    Even with the levels at 32, my exports are very low in volume even thought it feels crisp and loud when I recorded. Any tips? I don't have this problem when recording directly into the camera.

    Hello I bought the rode NT1 5TH generation and the A-1 sound card and the NTH100 headphones. But I'm having trouble connecting it. in fact when I connect the microphone via USB, the microphone is displayed on the different applications such as unify, rode connecte and rode central. But, when the USB cable is connected to the AI sound card and I connect it to the desktop, the A1 sound card, I have the sound but the microphone is not recognized by the application or the computer. This is actually my biggest problem. I can say that the microphone works when I connect it to the XLR since I have feedback via the headset but the microphone is not recognized by the computer application either. I want to know how to use my microphone and my sound card on my Windows computer.

    Just got my nt-usb and it's all setup correctly with the help of a friend but i cannot use the software properly. When i get the first page setup with "avalible micrphones" there are no icons that show up, this means i cannot add a microphone. When i skip and hit next i can drag the system and virtual icons but without being able to add a mic there is nothing i can really do with rode connect. I you or anyone else know of any possible solutions i would appreciate it.

      okay so rode connect is not compatible with the nt-usb but the mini works fine, I'll leave my original comment up in case someone else gets confused. I also missed that it's for the mini in your introduction which is my bad

    hi, has anyone have issues when activating Noise Gate? my audio becomes choppy and if i turned it off, it goes back to normal. It's a shame since I need that feature. I'm using the Rode NT USB Mini + Rode Connect + Macbook. Anyone got a similar issue?

    My software can’t seem to detect my second rode mic. It works perfectly fine on discord but it can’t connect to the software.

    On my MacBook Air m1 Rode Connect crashes the Audio Input and Output Devise Settings randomly while the App is Not Running. If i deinstall Rode Connect the error is gone. Any other Mac m1 Users with that same issue?

    Kevin, I'm so confused, I'm following your initial steps but I'm not seeing what you're showing. My RODE is plugged into my computer, but I don't see a page where I can drag up a microphone, it just shows me the channel assignment page, and when I speak into the mic I don't see the levels going up and down, and when I record and try to play back the recording there is no sound. What am I doing wrong?

    Wait. Why not just use the Rode mics in OBS? Why does Connect need to be part of the signal chain?
