The theory-crafting at the start is so good. I absolutely love the lightly-modded nature of the run in order to dive deeper into the desired themes. Wishing you and your family a good recovery!
I really like the ideas for this. Different precepts then normal and some "RP" things. These should all be fun since they should all be different. I really look forward to these
I really like these long, edited runs. It's really nice to throw one of these videos on and let it run while I get some work done. Great compliment to a working mode.
I do the same!! It’s great to be able to listen and only have to look every once in a while to keep up with what is happening. I almost always have a video like this playing when I do chores
I was watching this while napping. I woke up after an hour and thought I'd slept through the start of another video--you only had 2 colonists. I'm always impressed by how well you bounce back from near wipes.
While it's not very elaborate, you can tame bugs in base game, it's difficult since they will attack your pawn while they try to tame them (with the exception of the megascarabs who spawn from an ancient cryptosleep chamber), but if you set them to ignore threats and have them tame them they will be able too like any other, and once tamed the insect will stop attempting to kill your colonist. Of course if they don't tame them you have a rather stinky situation on your hands. Love your videos Adam!
2:23:20 I used to live next to a slaughterhouse (only a couple of walls away) were they aways killed pigs silently with a pressure gun or something, I don't know. I was like 4 or 5 years old at the time when one day someone tried to slain a pig with an axe and missed the neck, hitting it in the skull but not deep enough so it would die immediately. So I know exactly what Adam is talking about. We couldn't hear anything but the screaming and the men that worked there. It was reaaally big, some of them got really hurt trying to catch it and eventually the creature fell down due to the bleeding from the head. I saw some of it through a hole we had in the neighbor wall but my uncle lifted me and my cousin away.
started watching this along side playing my own game of RimWorld, 13:18 your eclipse hits and my eyes widen looking for something in my game. Imma pop this into my watch later for when I'm done with my session, BRB
I always hand one of these like full run edited videos up on my 3rd display while working from home or even playing a relaxing game, it’s just great, sure, I’m missing a bunch of stuff, but overall, always enjoy it when I look over and see Adam explain smth to chat or something whack happens
Do you plan on playing with more modded memes in next runs? They add lots of possibilities for unique ideologies that I think would complement some of your themed runs perfectly. I know you are more of a vanilla player so I totally understand if you don't. Haven't finished watching the whole video yet but I am loving it already.
This was from his live streaming. The live streams were like 9hrs each and I think 3 weeks of them went into this video. He did streams on Sat and Sunday each weekend to make these. So probably 55 hrs or so condensed into 5hrs. (You can see the full vids on the stream tab)
I'm all for lightly modded, "for-the-theme" runs. You are still playing at max difficulty, adding your own restrictions and playing your own style of Rimworld which is what I like about your videos. Plus I share your disappointment, I also remember that Biotech preview that made it look like you could play with Insectoids a bit more, when the reality was that there was nothing new to make them less of a pain to tame than they already were.
I also love your reflexive "not a mod" whenever opening the reward preference and medical default screens. You've mentioned that you do it because of so many people asking if it's a mod, but it becoming reflexive is pretty funny.
5 and a half hours of dirty greatness. Ya love to see it. I was only up to maybe episode 3 of your stream, so this is great. Have you considered doing a fully random xenotype run? When Biotech first came out, I desperately wanted to do a "miscreation" run. My first colonists were going to be "failed experiments" that were dumped when their creators were run off the world by the inhabitants. Their goal was to be "perfecting themselves" (min-maxing their genes essentially) and escaping the world to exact revenge on their creators. They were going to be completely apathetic to the "pure" xenotypes, because those xenotypes wouldn't accept them. No genes were off-limits, but they couldn't use a preset (no pure sanguophages). Mods came out later on that enabled pure randomness (I think with metabolic efficiency and complexity settings), but I had deadlines in my research come up that I needed to focus on instead. EDIT: Just wanted to add that I still haven't tested this idea, so I have no idea how the mods work and if the idea itself would be interesting. Just a thought I still had knocking around that I wanted to finally externalise.
"you just have to have them on a 4, they don't even need to be there" yeah. it probably goes something like joe average FloorBaby: oh man, i can't wait to go run through nature today! random colonist heading off to their job: hey floor baby, that creepy tentacle guy who was supposed to teach you today just said to sit at your desk and play with a battery or something for a couple hours. have a nice day joe average floor baby: if he's not gonna teach me i'm just gonna go color on the dirt some colonist walking by: i dunno kiddo. your mother had a slight pause when the doctor asked if she wanted you to be enslaved or not floor baby: i'm going to go teach myself about batteries
1:25:24 they probably thought it was a little dated and to me it’s really on the nose for an H&K UMP Which fits for a heavy SMG imo, now it looks more like a short barrel assault rifle.
Adam, can i request a guide on genes and on prosthetics and their synergies? i've been theorizing on what would be a perfect pawn and which genes are actually good to use and how to generally build a pawn, both on a standalone point of view and on a based on traits point of view, also a guide on which parts to use to combo with those, as an example, would a no sleep pawn with a good build be worth instead of just throwing a circadian half cycler? would half-cycler be actually broken if it didnt have the EMP penalty?
These are for-fun runs - hope you enjoy the first one!

Now back to bed (still super sick).
yay
Hope you feel better soon ❤
Get well soon!
Get better Adam, wishing you and your family get better soon...
All the best to you and the family, keep hydrated, much love
these edited full runs are the best. props to the editor and to adam, can't wait to watch it
They’re 5 hours on average but i also watch them fully. I’ve learned a lot from these streams
Me too. I also download them immediately (premium feature), Adam says that counts as a full view right away hope that helps

im 2 and a half hours in. This shit get fucking wild before the halfway mark
To be fair to children being alone at a desk, that can represent them doing homework assigned to them by who ever is set to childcare.
Being rim child sucks they still have homework lol

Wishing you and your family a good recovery!
Small mod lists really are the best. The bloat in bigger lists either lead to analysis paralysis or it just gets tacky and imbalanced really fast lol
🎶It's a dirtmole life for us🎶
Loved this run, Adam! You have a great personality, your daughter is lucky to have such a great dad. Keep up the great work. Love the editing also.
A Highmate run the whole colony would be a Cabaret
And nobody can ever caravan!
What a fucking run.. like 1hr 20mins seems kinda fine and then shit literally hits the fan.
Are bugs on?
No

weird timestamp but idk
2:26:55 the joke about earth being the cause of depression was amazing. love the editing of this run

That 100% Plague Biosculpter save was insane

This is the most catastrophic and chaotic run I've seen from you. Absolutely love it.
I love these themed "for fun" runs! Even since the edited sanguophage run, I really enjoy these long edited playthroughs.
Blessed. Another edited playthrough to watch. Thank you adam
This series is EXACTLY what I was thinking about doing myself. I can't wait to see the Impid run!
I've always said, venting ac with doors is not cheesing but QOL
It really feels like the game should have a "chimney" building in vanilla. That's basically just what the door trick is

Appreciate the videos they're great. Look forward to the future runs, hope you enjoy yourself & have some fun.
Liked this run a lot! Very much enjoyed the nail-biting moments near the beginning

Chat: What's your favorite type of geneline?
Adam: Dirtmole is pretty high up there.
Rimworld: Oh you like these guys do you? Well..
Just got into you when the sea ice run came out, binged them all and am excited for this
Thank you Adam. Hope you are feeling better
when he was baiting the highmate run in the intro i thought he was going to say baseliner lmao
"He stood up and died" you can clearly see when he clicks to punch the life out of that tough pawn 47:03
I wish Adam Luck on his sickness recovery!!

love the run, such a unique experience playing to their strengths! Definitley adding it to my rimworld to do list!
Those orb weavers crawling around in a big circle during rituals is just too adorable!

Another edited run. Awesome
So many reasons to be pumped for this run!!

absolutely adored this run!!!!! cant wait for neanderthals next
these videos are so good
@4:38:50 Apparently all the Ausies needed to win the Great Emu War was miniguns. Lots and lots of miniguns...
Why does the giant murder bug on the thumbnail look so cute
Xenotype runs sounds like a great idea! From the unmodded game my favorites would probably be Impids.
This run is way more fun than I thought it'd be, might make a Dirtmole colony myself kinda overlooked them
That early infestation had me on the edge of my seat!
I love that “edited” doesn’t affect the length of the video at all~ Love me a nice long video to chill with before bed!

the purge of the genetic line of dirtmoles was cruel, losing 6 kids was brutal

Oh.my.god.
