12:19 they were about 19-17 around this time, with 4 of them being born in 2000 and the youngest is 2002.
mark is the oldest being born in 1999 but he wasn't here, it was when nct dream's "graduation system" is still in place where members who reached the age 20 will have to graduate and move to other groups (like nct 127 or wayv). SM got rid of this system around 2020 and brought mark back, making nct dream a fixed unit. i would recommend watching a guide about this!

Dream's dances have been physically challenging from the very beginning. When they debuted with Chewing Gum at the young ages of14-17 they were doing complex choreo on hoverboards. My First and Last (their next title track) has such legendary choreo. We Young (3rd title track) has amazing floor work... I could go on and on but just wanted to point out, Dream has had a very high standard of dance and physicality from the very beginning and they continue to just become better dancers over the years with the ones with less dance expertise growing in style and execution. They are amazing and watching them grow and evolve over the last 8 years has been a privilege

You should check out their debut chewing gum so that you can see how young they were back then. It has a performance video as well and half of the choreo is perfomed on hoverboards.

Because "Boom" came out in 2019 there were only 6 members in NCT-Dream. Mark had "graduated" from NCT-Dream and he was no longer included in NCT-Dream activities. However, Haechan, who also is a member of NCT-127, was just recovering from an injury, as well as promoting as a member of NCT-127 with Mark in the U.S. at this time, so he was only able to participate in part of the MV. That's why you only see all 6 of them at the end. In the beginning of the MV there was only 5 members, but by the end there are a few scenes with all 6 members.
NCT's whole group concept is about dreams, dreaming or being in a dream state, so what you see happening in most of their MVs, across all of their sub-units, is something to do with their dream concept. Therefore, what is happening in NCT-Dream's "Boom" MV can be interpreted as things that are happening within a dream and the song is about dreaming and dreams, etc.
The whole point of "Boom" is to show how much the Dream members have grown and matured, etc.
I always find it funny that Jisung, who was the maknae of NCT, is the member who is the tallest and the one with the deepest voice. "Boom" is where we see Jisung turn from a boy into a young man. (He was 17 in this MV.)
To get to know NCT-Dream better, it makes more sense to react to their MVs in order of when they were released. As you will start to discover, as you go along and see some of NCT-Dream's older material, you will see and hear how their style has grown and changed over time. That is also part of the group's concept. As the members grow and mature so too does their sound and style. That is why they debuted with their song "Chewing Gum," which has a very cute and bubbly concept that fits the fact that they were all teenagers at the time. They had to grow and mature into the sound you hear in "Boom." SM's no dummy when it comes to creating groups that gain global popularity. It just goes to show you why it's one of the Big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and why it has global influence around the world. :D
NCT is a very international group. For example, in NCT-Dream the members speak at least 5 languages. Mark, the leader of NCT-Dream, is Korean-Canadian, so his first language is English; RenJun and Chenle are Chinese, so their first language is Mandarin; and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and Jisung are Korean. Plus, they are only a small faction of what makes up the whole group of NCT.
NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016, and it is made up of what was the 7 youngest members of the NCT at the time. (NCT's newest Japanese sub-unit NCT-WISH, that just debuted a few months ago now includes some of NCT's youngest members.) All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 22 and 25 years old (they were 14-17 when they debuted.) Mark is the oldest of the Dream members, and Jisung was the youngest of all of NCT for 7 years.
SM Entertainment originally created NCT-Dream with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees.
SM's original plan was that when the Dream members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun we thought would be graduating in 2019 -- when the "Boom" MV was released -- and form a new NCT sub-unit or be add to a sub-unit that already existed. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole "graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group.
NCT was created as part of SM's plan to achieve global domination and one of the ways the company plans to accomplish that is to make music that reaches all types of fans all over the world, including younger fans.
NCT-Dream became popular because they were different then all the other groups that were out there at the time of their debut. The Kpop industry is full of young groups who are trying to appeal to a more mature demographic. Therefore, fans appreciate Dream for the fact that they embrace their age and don't try to act and sound older than they are.
