NCT U is like an umbrella - all the NCT members are in it. The producers and songwriters pick and choose who they want to be in each song, depending on style/genre, etc. It lets them cover all kinds of genres and just pick and choose voices and dancers.
Nct U is a rotational unit so it's not the same members everytime. So, Mark is not in make a wish It's also not the same number of members. 7th Sense had 5, Make a wish had 7, Baby don't stop had 2.

When you said "swalla-la-la," it made me think of "Shalala" by Taeyong (the guy in the jeans and grey shirt in the dance practice or purplish hair/headscarf in the MV here). It references a lot of early 2000's hip hop music and dance moves. It's super fun and quirky with a lot of hidden easter eggs. I'd LOVE your reaction to it. Btw, Taeyong is NCT's leader, main rapper, main dancer, sub-vocalist, visual, center, and face of the group. He also writes and composes his own music and even choreographs. NCT's whole group concept is based on dreams, so in NCT-U's "Make a Wish (Birthday Song)" they talk about making a wish like on your birthday because wishes are often things you dream of happening. (The Birthday part comes from the end of the song when they say "I'll give you a birthday cake." The underlying message in the lyrics is they want to make a wish like on your birthday and have you grant it for them, similar to what Ten is talking about in his song "Birthday" LOL) Everything NCT does is about dreams, dreaming or being in a dream state. Therefore, that is the theme you will see being repeated and referenced in all of their MVs across all of their sub-units.
