- Day 2 of my BMT hike:
Left my campsite (mile 8) and hike to a Bald, Toccoa River Suspension Bridge, climbed Toonowee Mountain, Wallalah Mtn & Licklog Mountain. While climbing Wallalah Mtn, I got overheated. Felt dizzy, exhausted despite all the electrolyte I drank. Slowwwly climbed another mountain called Licklog Mtn....as slow as a snail. Bugs, spiders, spider webs hitting my face as I hiked. Camped at a campsite at mile 23 where I had to hike down a STEEP trail to get to a spring that was barely flowing. Filled up 2.5 litres and climbed back up the damn steep trail!! OMG...I was about to die. Around 9pm, a bad thunderstorm rolled through, very strong wind, I felt tree branches hitting my tent. I fell asleep....woke up, the storm had passed, just rain that cooled things down. :)
Great video! Please keep posting. I will be thru hiking the BMT in Oct.
Flip the breaker off and back on to stay cool 😂. Be safe!
Be safe! I know how hot and humid (and buggy) it gets there around this time of year.
As one of the 2 maintainers you passed that day, hopefully we made your hike a little better on Toonewah (Tooni for short) Mountain. It was a very hot day. Your progress was impressive on such a hot and miserable day! - Phil
I was so happy to see someone on the trail!! Thank you for maintaining the trail. I found a lot of overgrown areas and blowdowns in other sections but it's normal in the summer :)
I love reliving my hike of the 1st hundred miles on the BMT. thanks for this. :) My first night on trail was across the suspension bridge, next to the river, I tried to stick to at least 15 miles a day. I woke up the next morning, which was my 40th birthday, to River Otters playing in the water.
How nice!! What time of year did you do it? Summer was miserable!! :/
@@hikersheep mid October. :) it was actually pleasant weather. Cold at night but that only made me sleep better. :)
@@FinalMyle October would be my choice to go. Better views, more fall colors, no bugs, colder...I would love it. Don't ever go during summer....omg
@@hikersheep duly noted. Lol
That looked difficult, especially with the lack of water, so we'll done.
