Hi Joe, now they are not your regular CAV starter, I assume by the level of waterproofing around the component joints and connection entry points those starters are some sort of marine (naval) spec rather than for automotive use. Nice how the MoD paint everything duck egg blue.
What a find Joe. 👍 Certainly puts the civillian starter to shame. My late father had an ex MoD MFV (106) with an 8L3B in her. Hearing that started up and tick over was a joy. Although his barge with a pair of Kelvin petrol/parrafin K3s always used to scare me when he started them up. Especially when he would change it over to diesel. Those first few "bangs" made you wonder if the engine wasn't going to blow up!
Good afternoon. I am wondering if you can do a video on the 5lw. I just bought a boat with a 5lw and would like to know more about them and if you can send me your business contact information as I might need your expertise in future Thanks David Stewart
Hello David, there is very little difference between 5LW and the other LW models. In fact all Gardners are really quite similar, so making a video specifically for 5LW makes very little sense. If you have a specific question please email me: tangent.gardner@gmail.com. Thanks for the interest.
@@tangentgardner good evening Joe. Thanks for the reply and I did think it would be the case. I don’t have anything specific re my 5LW yet as I only take ownership of the vessel on the 1st December. However once I do I will be in touch with any questions if that’s ok. I think the engine is in good order but as I say I don’t have any experience with Gardeners. Thanks for now Dave
