I just modified my rack.
I cut the stops and left around 6-7 mm. They are very important due to stability for the screws.

On XT3 make sure you turn all handlebars so they don’t rest on the ground therefore bike rack goes farther than 90degress😊

My Velospace XT3 main fixing handle doesn't clear the barn doors on my T6, but before I consider such drastic mods I think I'll look at different Westfalia shaped (removable) towbars that are longer/ lower than mine

hi thanks for some great ideas . can you help me with a little advice . i have a new towbar on my van which has a bolt on towball , will it work with the xt2 or could i bolt on a towball like yours , cheers john

Great video. I've got this rack on my Cali and it works without the mod. I'm buying a Westfalia Seven Hedin with barn doors and wonder if the extra clearance from the mod will make a difference. I calculate that I've got 420mm clearance at present from the centre of my flange towball. Did you measure the difference?

Thanks for sharing this good solution to solve can't open tail gate problem. On your video is type Easy Fold XT2. What is about the type XT3 ? Does this solution also work to open the vw California tail gate ?

Hi! OK I have translated your question. "Good day, in your version of the towbar under the square, if you turn the mount and ball 180 degrees, does it remain possible to open the door calmly without alteration? Thanks for the expanded video!" I think I understand your question. I did not try turning the towbar around, but I suspect it still would not clear the door, and anyway the towbar would be too low and scrape on road over some road or driveway surface angle changes too easily. Fit it correctly and none of this is required. Furthermore, if necessary, whilst carrying bikes simply put anything you need near the other THREE/FOUR doors😊 (depending on vehicle model).
