Ben, you were reading my mind. I'm considering an Axopar down in Southwest Florida where beaching is inviting. I've crossed oceans but never beached a power boat...so thank you for this!
Absolutely! Our pleasure, thanks for watching.
Per always, encouraging me to expand my horizons with my 37!
Glad to help!
Don’t recall seeing one of these before. Thanks for the tips!
You bet! Glad to help.
Thank you Ben, I’ve always wanted to beach but never had the courage. Will give it a try!
Glad we can inspire you to give it a shot! Just take it nice and slow, and watch out for those tide changes!
Great video. So, generally speaking how far out will you anchor then given the tides? Or are you just chauffeuring for the day?
Dammit that is a beautiful boat.
Hey Ben, Nice video, and as always, was nice to chat with you at the boat show in Boston this year. Any chance you’d be willing to share the general location of that beaching area? Like to check it out this summer. Thanks!
Most definitely! We filmed this in Casco Bay off the coast of Harpswell.
Shallow water operations can be quite tricky. The only thing I would add is, if you aren’t familiar with the boat and/or approach, don’t risk it. A beaching attempt can turn into a stranding or sinking very easily. Destroying a 1/3 to 1/2 million dollar boat would be terrible.
For sure! Great advice.

I grew up on the lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. Beaching was a common thing for me, but I got into several difficult situations because of fast changing weather conditions. On one occasion I was forced to take cover under some scrub on a bar island overnight because my boat was driven up hard by a popup thunderstorm. In the morning I had to bale water and sand out, and dig a drag ditch to refloat her. It took hours and the whole time the marine patrol officer (a good friend of the family) just watched me work. During the tow back, the only thing he said was, “I guess you won’t make that mistake again.” 🤣
That lesson has stuck with me for decades.
