I learned things man. I leaaarnnneed things - will have to watch again
I learned about Jesse from your 'Instagram story' video, Cody, I can't thank you enough for all you've introduced to the world of film making
It's just like a Christmas gift from you jess 🎅⛄
I have been using whip transitions for a while now, but this video shows me how much more I can do with them. Oh you bet ya I’m going to be upping my game using these tricks. Thanks for making this vid Jesse!
The way you explain and show things is so easy to assimilate, not quite often do you see advanced in depth tutorials that actually are so informative and clear.
The last 2 minutes were gold for me, being a solo...everything.
I love Jesse’s videos, the part at the end where he explained how he did the whip by himself was awesome since I’m usually by myself. My only thing is a lot of his videos feel like they are for folks with some experience more so than beginners. I have to watch a few times and research some things to understand since I’m like a baby bird in this field.
Thanks, man! This is super helpful. Often I see videos of people outside doing the in-camera transitions, but they never take it to the editing software and actually do a play-by-play of what those shots look like in the editing software. It's not all in-camera, really, the post production of the movements you do in-camera is the key element, so I'm really glad you highlighted that post production part of it!
Great video Jesse, thanks for sharing! Learned so much and definitely have to watch it over and over for all the details you put in. Have a great start for 2020!
Just used some tips from the previous in-camera transition video yesterday while snowboarding, but I'll definitely be watching this over and over while I piece it all together. Thanks man, you're the bomb!
Thank you so much for making this video! And your other videos. Some things I like/learned:
-I love how you break down your intros step by step. It's a huge learning moment so thank you!
-The biggest thing I learned from last year's video was the simplicity of using your body as a stabilizer and not needing a fancy gimbal to make good transitions.
-Another thing: Learning how color correcting and direction of camera whipping are huge in making successful transitions. How having a central subject (whether it's color or object) can give viewers a steady point of focus during the crazy whip-whip.
-I also love how you challenge us to be creative in our transitions and in our editing. There's a very apparent level of respect that you have for your viewers as artists/film makers and it shows when you challenge us like that, so thank you. (Which is why you're a good teacher!)
-I would have never guessed you filmed the transition of you sitting in your chair by yourself. That was a great surprise and example of how, i don't remember what you called it, masking?, can be effective and seamless.
Thank you! You're a wonderful and thorough teacher.
I don't know if this is something you're versed in teaching but I'd love to learn more about text editing in your videos?
Happy New Year! :)
LOL, first 30 secs I was looking at the video date uploaded and thinking, 'haven't I seen this before!" Figured it out after that!!!! 😀
Hahaha yes! It worked!
I had the exact same thought... this looks so familiar.. check date...
haahaha me too
Love the videos and how you break them down to show the process!! Thank you especially for the encouragement to keep practicing!!
So good. Learned a ton. I love your approach to all of this. Thanks for making another vid after the last hit a mil! AWESOME! I can't wait to see what the next version is going to look like and what new skills you pick up along the way.
Going to have to watch this 10 times just under understand the genius transitions! Last video inspired us very much. Thank You! 😍
Ugh that whip transition was so extra and I LOVE IT .
I liked “the more you shoot, the more you know, the more you know, the more you grow. 🙌🏼
That last effect of masking and filming yourself is brilliant! Well done!
This is wonderful! Thank you for making such detailed videos! I hope you continue to do so!
Learned a lot!!! Especially that tip of the end, masking yourself in and key framing it BRILLIANT I don’t know how I never thought of that
If you had a 3 hour podcast I would listen to it there is so much to learn from you that’s for the amazing content I hope you have the happiest of holidays, you’re great
OMG, the last transition, the one youre on your desk is just UNREAL, I watched frame by frame and I could not see it still.

You articulate the point about following the camera motion very clearly. Thank you for explaining it in so much detail!
Thanks for these wonderful tips, Jesse! Let the passion burn 🥽🏂❄
I'd love to wach all of your old stories to see your progression over time. Cheers from Barcelona. :)

So good, so much great information. I need to rewatch this about a million times! Thank you
I'll apply this in my next Cinematic Video for sure! What a gift! Thanks Jess. You're the best!
I had to rewind so many times which indicates I was actually learning something. Thanks Jesse! Perfect Christmas gift!
Love this Jesse. Thanks so much for making it. I also love a two frame dissolve.
Happy Christmas Jesse. Really useful. Thank you!
my heart is all a flutter. Love your work. Thank you for sharing!
Wow ! This was full of useful informations I'm eager to put into practice. Most of them based on knowledge I already had on software techniques (keyframe, masking and stuff), but I had no clues I could use em this way... Thank you for this awesome christmas gift.
Thanks for this Jesse, glad you're doing these videos!
This one is even better than the one from last year!!! Happy new year Jesse👏🏽
I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of my buddies told me about this channel literally the day after I had a shoot with a planned in-camera transition. When I planned my shoot I was just considering motion. Something I didn't consider or watch for matching color. When I did my whip, I passed a very bright spot. When I meshed the 2 shots, it resulted in a distracting flicker during the transition. To solve it, I ended up pulling a still frame masking/blurring to cover the hot spot. Then I manually keyframed it to match the motion. The motion blur covered everything and no more flicker. Anyway kickass channel and nice work. Keep it up.
A true inspiration! You make me want to create period! Going to get my camera now! Thank you and Happy Christmas 🎄
wow this is a gem for video editors! thanks man and merry christmas!
