Beautiful work as always, dude! I've inadvertently built my whole channel on the cardinal sin of vertical video on TH-cam. Luckily, people don't seem to mind since it fits the subject matter well. It's an oddly specific fit for vertical in that I'm trying to show the piano and my hands, but also show my face from a somewhat front-side view. I've tried to turn it back to landscape for TH-cam but I haven't found an effective way to do it, especially within the confines of the space I'm working with.

This is definitely something I'm going to experiment with to still be able to shoot horizontal but maintain the resolution, so thank you so much!

As an animator in film/games industry, these modern phones influencing vertical videos has bothered me since the beginning. 90% of videos are vertical now on youtube. The youtube shorts made it even worse because it brought the TikToxic people. TH-camrs like SSSniperWolf do nothing but watch other peoples' TikToxic videos for false "reactions" and get revenue from it. Vertical never looked good. 95% of humans don't know how to do basic film and turn the phone sideways for horizontal. The crazy part is, they probably think actual cameras in the store capture images in vertical, which they do not. True cameras capture photos in horizontal. Vertical videos cut off 50% of the raw footage. I don't comprehend why this is appealing. Almost every car video these days is vertical, short, and covered with TikToxic music. Everyone is attempting to do cinematic work in vertical form, and they have no clue what they are doing.

When you can use portrait mode (vertical) video:
-When you’re talking to the camera (e.g. to share on social media)
    >Why? Because you’re the center of attention, the spotlight; your surroundings have few to no importance.
When Not to use portrait video mode:
    -Sharing experiences
-Filming your dog do an impossible trick
    -Family/friends reunions
    -Party time
    -Conspiracy videos (seriously)
    -Videos to serve as proof/evidence/testimony
    -Vlogs
    -Etc.
    >Why? Because you’re filming your surroundings! It’s easier to see what’s going on when the video is not cropped!
Imagine watching a movie in portrait mode. where’s the fun in that?
Do yourself a favor and be mindful how you record a video. It will improve its quality content and will definitely be more enjoyable to watch!.
