Ahem, Ford made the LOLA GT Mk VI super heavy, and tried to race it with a 289 and failed for a couple of years. Shelby designed the Mk II GT40 and ran it with a 427 successfully. Still, it is not a nimble, superlight aero race car like the Lola. They wasted millions over designing a GT car that never went into production, Ford insisted SHELBY STOP DEVELOPING THE COBRA, which was only recently developed to run a 427. It basically never happened because of this monster of a BOONDOGGLE, total waste of time. A redesigned Cobra Daytona from Superformamce is what you want, with a GM V8, Ford is ridiculous. They insisted Shelby develop the mustang for racing, and they're still racing a mustang. They don't care about winning, and NEVER DESIGNED A PROTOTYPE. I liked GT40s for about a month or two then recognized the Brock Coupe as the Champion that it is. The LOLA was a stunning car, ruined by Ford. They never lightened, as Lotus instructs.
Love these cars! I really, really want a toolroom copy, but of the red GT40 like they used for the sounds in the Ford vs Ferrari movie. Great video!
What exact engine is in that GT40 wide body?
Got to love these things
First phone call after I win the lottery!, LOL.
