7.13.23. If I may be presumptuous, it would’ve behooved you to pull the engine. That way you could’ve changed the Stator, and it’s easier to get to the water pump with the engine out also. Not to mention timing belts, while you’re in there. With 140 km on it, makes a lot of sense to do the extra work because it’s not really that much more work pulling the engine. My hats off to you for thinking outside the box, and you ended up repairing what you were going after, so kudos to you‼️
The real irony in this whole story is that the pulse generator wasn’t the problem after all. It was the carbs. I cleaned and put another set on that I had acquired and the problem vanished. Love and learn !
7.14.23. If I lived near you, 💁🏻♂️I would’ve given you a hand as I’ve done these a few times, pulling the engine and put new Stators in The four cylinder gold wings.
Hi, what PGs did you use to replace them? As far as I know they are only available for 85 and up and heard some ppl use PGs for some other bikes to replace.
I had a miss on the #3 cylinder. I started chasing what I thought was a spark issue. Started at the plug and worked back through the whole ignition system. Everything checked out. Did an ohms test on the PG and it was below spec. So I assumed if it tested at 1030 ohms it was bad. Manual says 1200 +\- 100. So changed it and no change. That was a let down. Turn out it was a carb issue. I have already cleaned the carbs so didn’t think it could be them but it was. Cleaned them again and found the idle jet clogged. That was the culprit all along. Live and learn.

The stator and clutch had already been done so I didn’t need to pull it to service them. I was also pretty intimidated by that process

That was a cool bike!

I used a pulse generator off of a parts engine that I bought.
What indication did you have to know the pulse generator needed replacing??

Did #3 not have any spark before you fixed the carb issue?
