As a painter for 35 years I can tell you that cleaning anything with WD40 that will eventually need to be repainted will cause latex paint to fish eye and fail to bond requiring either a degreaser or oil based primer before painting a time consuming and potentially expensive repair.
I was advised by a guy at a local hardware store to never spray WD40 onto door locks (that what I was after) because is will eventually clog the lock. You should only use graphite powder.
My dog chewed a blue bic pen and it was all over my rug in the middle of my living room and I sprayed this and scrubbed and it took it right out. Thank goodness!
All of these are great tips. The only thing I would add is to use a dry lubricant on door hinges and locks instead of the WD-40. Dust is automatically attracted to anything wet so after a while the dust will collect in the door hinges and locks which will make it harder to use. You can find the dry lubricants right next to the WD-40 any place that sells WD-40
B' Sha, I was really intrigued by all these other uses for WD40. Until I saw her using it on the door locks😳🤭😬😮 Many years ago, a locksmith told me to NEVER use any type of spray lubricants on door locks, because it will attract dust, etc. He suggested using graphite powder. That’s all I’ve ever used.
Great tips...here's another one...I found a very nice painting at the back of my building...it was very dirty..I used cotton makeup remover pads sprayed with WD40 and it came up beautiful
Any time you spray WD-40 onto a painted surface you need to de grease that area or the next time you go to paint the paint will separate a condition called fisheye if you don’t you’re painter will get pissed off because he will need to prime it with oil based primer before the finish coat and oh by the way I’m a painter.
Spray in keyhole and other orifices of exterior padlocks to flush out accumulated weathered debris and free up internal seized parts. Spray sprouting weeds in sidewalk cracks as an herbicide.
Mitchalisia Hi, I have used WD40 to get dark spots/ stains out of carpet, & it WORKS ! Just test it first in a hidden area to make sure it doesn't discolor the carpet. Probably would work on clothing & upholstery just as good !
I use WD 40 to revive my slate place mats, slate coasters and the slate base of my fireplace, when they start looking dried out and dull. It makes them look like new again. Don’t use it on slate flooring though as it will make it slippery and dangerous to walk on.
You forgot "Avoid porous surfaces, WD40 will leave oil stains." It also is a great rust prevention coating, and prefered air freshener of mechanics. I used to use it to restore plastics and rubbers on my car before Amorall made me a better person.
You're better off using a dry spray lube like graphite or better yet PTFE (Teflon) in your locks. After a while the WD40 will gum up, especially when it gets really cold.
If you really want to remove labels. Use namptha. If you want to oil a hinge or lock. Use oil. I could continue but I think I'm going to start my own video. To explain the best ways to do all these things without WD40
Most of your suggestions are not a hacks it's what wd-40 is intended for, BTW if your dead bolt sticks turn the lock so the shaft is sticking out, spray the shaft then retract the shaft into the lock so it could lubricate the inside parts, the way you spray really did nothing for the lock.
Yes, my patio door lock seizes up in summer and WD40 is great for that. As you say, you need to give it a couple of minutes and then work the lock free.
It works well for machining aluminum.. leaves a nice surface finish and pieces don't get stuck to your tooling. I wouldn't put it on my car paint though.. or my boots
That stainless Steel needs more than a couple of rub downs because I could see streek marks after you had finished , & as for bugs WD40 only kills certain bugs it does not kill woodlice
I cut open a jackfruit, the peel full of latex like liquid..it got all over the knife, i srayed wd40 and leave overnight, the nxt day just wipe clean with paper towel. That easy..

I agree. I wouldn't clean anything like that with it. 👍
Also true on autobody paint and Clearcoat.
@@roberto3262 - Always start with the easiest way. Brake cleaner, damp towel, mild apc, etc.

Great point!
TSP is the answer.👍

Correct!!
Very truth
Because he probably wants you to buy a new one.
Exactly. I learned that living in Vancouver Island, BC where it always is moist.
You were told correctly. Graphite powder only.
My dog chewed a blue bic pen and it was all over my rug in the middle of my living room and I sprayed this and scrubbed and it took it right out. Thank goodness!

Use a silicone spray for door hinges
Spike Riches , good idea, I didn't even think about silicone

@@maureenazevedo6219 and if u don't have graphite powder, rub it with the tip of a pencil. The tiny bits of lead is a dry lubricant.
It helps keep the snow from clumping up in your snowblower and especially in the chute
When snow is wet and heavy I spray shovel with wd40 and snow wont stick
Pam and crisco work too
I use kerosene on mine because it's $3.50 a gallon. But I'm sure that WD40 works great too.
You can also use gulfwax, just rub it on I use it on saw blades, planers, just about anything, it reduces friction
Great tips...here's another one...I found a very nice painting at the back of my building...it was very dirty..I used cotton makeup remover pads sprayed with WD40 and it came up beautiful
I use it on the black plastic trim and moldings on my old Jeep. It darkens them up again and they look new again - for a few weeks anyway
Use Cerakote. Best ever
Thank you. My little can has a different nozzle but I was able to force the straw in.
I spray my snow shovel when I start works great.
Great, I tried this advice before and they work fine.
Amazing to hear! Thanks for letting us know. 😊
I'd wear gloves when using WD-40. You don't want those chemicals absorbed through your skin.
Loved this one.

For Hack #10; Great idea! However, I don’t know if the WD-40 stench is worth the shine....
I like the smell!
How does that red straw fit....i didnt have luck on a regular can.....

Fire in the rain also sets wet wood on fire instantly 😊

I guess making the door not squeak is for people who didn’t know what it’s for. But the other stuff was great. I knew some but you taught me more.
WD-40 also makes a great flamethrower! 👍🏼
Great ideas I did not know
I used it to open my jam locker and it worked
Cool thank you very much. I noticed it seems we don't have to protect our hands from it. Does it not harm the skin please?
All well and good but the strong residual odor can be very overwhelming.
I bought some recently, and it doesn’t smell as bad as it used to.
Thank you.
Excellent idea 💡 👏

I used WD-40 to eliminate wood bees that had taken over my garage. That was 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen one since.
Great information,thank youuuuuuu....
Thank you for the great ideas
It also has paint relieving properties so you can spray in o. The hurting area
Good job
If forming up a mold for some concrete garden edging, spray the sides and bottom of the mold with a little WD40...
Oh these are awesome 👌
Try it on snow shovels and snow blowers. Use it to get small screws out that have been put in with loc-tite, like on firearms.
Thanks!
Sooo satisfying 🤤the results are almost as good as when I use crocodile cloths when cleaning
Complimenti per il tuo video (molto utile)😀👏
Ive tried to hinges looks but after few became rusty and mimic the hinges, not suitable for not stainless. But ok for insect

I love a cup of WD in the morning. 💕
Does it can removes oil stains from wall???
Cheap turpentine oil does the same things more efficiently
I do all of these but use mobile 1. It’s difficult to pour but the results are good.
said it before you are crafty but there is another spray out there that doesn’t attract dust like WD just fyi it’s better for doors and such
I need to get some more WD-40. 😁
Here....I have extra.....
Its very good at killing wasps. Mint is a better alternative to keeping bugs out of the house.
Dawn or other dish soap and water in a spray bottle also kill wasps!
@ Even an all-purpose spray does it. 😂
Thanks. I’ve been looking for a can of something to spray on bugs.

Ugh. An appliance installer ruined the finish on my ss hood doing this. Not all ss is alike.
Never use wd40 on a lock
Use graphite which is made for sticky locks and knobs
Not true. I use WD on all my locks. It helps keep water out too. Not only do I play a locksmith on TH-cam... I'm also one in real life.
It's always worked excellently on my doors. I only need to use it every couple of years, and it never fails to free them up.
Thankyou
Thanks
Very interesting thsnk you for your video

Thank you, some I had forgotten and some I didn't know, so useful 👍
What is the last one for?!
The crayon one saved my life lol.
Can you spray on white shoes?
Stops squeaky doors? How is this a hack? Everyone buys WD-40 primarily for this reason. Lol
😂😂😂
Be careful spraying it on shoes because it can make the soles slippery
Thank You! I like it! Keep more coming!
Do you have to beware of the items being flammable if not cleaned after the WD40? Like a smoker while smoking, could the shoes catch 🔥?
WD will rot leather. Jus FYI 😉
I cut open a jackfruit, the peel full of latex like liquid..it got all over the knife, i srayed wd40 and leave overnight, the nxt day just wipe clean with paper towel. That easy..
Also works good for fishing 🎣 spray it on your bait to attract fish.
