Great video but it's the first cold weather, or rain after a true drought that that initiates the bloom. So those trees that are north of us bloom first.(see the bloom those growers north of us are showing on Facebook) It's the cold AND type that actually determines the season. Here in Central Broward we picked our last Keitt in November and our last Beverly December 2.
Hello I had two mango trees that I didn't like and they have been growing since 2004. I just cut them down. I need a tree stump grinder I think. Can I keep them there and just keep cutting them or do I have to grind it? I want to plant new trees and I will be going to Tropical Aces Farms in West Palm thanks for the information:)
Out of all of the newer varieties M4 seems to be the late winner. My young tree still has a bunch of half green/yellow hard as a rock mangoes. My Keitt always wins but MBBS is getting worse on it so it might get chopped and top worked. Other ones still hanging are surprisingly Sweet tart, didn't think it was later, Honey Kiss and ZINC. Still a few Juliettes.
WHAT A PROUD OWNER OF FRUITFUL TREES. DON'T THROW THAT "KENT" MANGO TREE AWAY. IF YOU DRUG IT UP CAREFULLY MAKE SURE TO LEAVE GOOD AMOUNT OF ROOT ON IT MAKE SURE ITS CAN BE REPLANT THEN BRING THEM TO ME I'LL PAY YOU $250.00 FOR IT. I LIVE IN LONGWOOD FL. MAKE SURE YOU TIDE THE BRANCHES TOGETHER LIKE CHRISTMAS TREE WITH A LOT OF MOISE ON THE ROOT BASE AND LAY IT DOWN IN THE TRUCK THEN SHOULD BE A FIND TRIP. INCLUDE ALL THE FRUITS. lol. I WILL TAKE A CHANCE AND GROWTH IT. WHATEVER YOU DO PLEASE DON'T DESTROY THE TREE. PEACE
Hope you can ask Alex about which vigorous late season varieties he thinks might thrive in Southern California. Thanks again for the detailed mango content.
@@tinyjungle_ Indeed. I'm right there with you. Commercial varieties are rubbish. My heart was broken when I heard Carrie Mangoes don't do well in SoCAL.
Great video. Enjoyed watching. Thanks

Late season Keitts are grown in Coachella.
@@presterjohn1697 yes thank you. I'm more looking for some info/suggestions on the more "designer" less commercially available verieties.
