One from Arkansas, one from Oklahoma. Both were outstanding studio musicians in LA in the 60's before stepping into the spotlight. David was also a superior songwriter, arranger and conductor. Glen was one of the most sought-after guitarists ever, whom few knew could sing until "Gentle on My Mind" in '67. An excellent combination of talents.

Two of the most beautiful voices ever I've ever heard, and both wrote such meaningful lyrics. Their music is always soft and dreamy. Two great men that have given the world so much listening pleasure. If couples who are contemplating divorce, would spend a weekend alone with no kids or any other distractions and just really listen to the words in most of David's songs....especially 'Make It With You', they just might fall back in love again.

Yeah, these two are pure magic. Despite how terrible much of the pop music is today, you can still find some young talent that pays homage to the greats of the past and carries on in their tradition. Check out Allison Young and Josh Turner. You will love them.
Gates and Campbell have been playing together for years, early 60’s. TH-cam “James Darren “life of the party “ 1963 David Gates Leon Russell Glen Campbell “ Gates played bass guitar and produced/arranged, Glen Campbell guitarist, Leon Russell (Russell Bridges) piano. And what became known as the Wrecking Crew.
How great would it be to have Glen Campbell sing your songs, and harmonize and play guitar with you? Campbell's voice on "Baby I'm-A-Want You" is phenomenal, he loved Gates's music, what an amazing tribute. Could listen to these guys all night, not just a 3-minute medley.
