- Trooper's Report:
On 8-28-23 I, Trooper A. Escamilla, was patrolling in the area of Interstate 40 East near the 173 mile marker. I observed a Gray
Chrysler Pacifica bearing New York LPN (KNX6341) following too close to a tractor trailer in the number 2 lane. I initiated a
traffic stop on Interstate 40 E near the 175 mile marker. I made contact with the driver who was identified as Paul Diffee. I
advised Paul of who I was, the agency I represented and the reason for this stop. Paul stated that he did acknowledge that he
was following too close and apologized for it.
While speaking to Paul I could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. I had Paul provide me with his
driver’s license and advised him to come to my vehicle to further my investigation. I asked Paul what his travel story was and
he stated as follows; Paul stated that he was training for a triathlon event and had flown to Dallas Texas from Wilmington North
Carolina. Paul stated that he trained over the weekend and drove up to Oklahoma City to catch up with a friend. I asked Paul
for his rental agreement in which stated that Paul had gotten his rental from Oklahoma City on 8-27-23.
I asked Paul if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and I advised him that I smelled the odor of marijuana. Paul stated “you
got me” and stated that he had smoked on his trip and that he had some THC Wax in his backpack. I then placed Paul in the
rear of my vehicle and conducted a probable cause search. I opened the rear of the SUV and located a large duffle bag in the
rear of the vehicle. The bag had a small lock on it. I opened the bag slightly which yielded several bags of Marijuana. I placed
Paul in handcuffs and when doing so Paul stated that he had 32 pounds of marijuana. I asked Paul what the code was to the
lock in which he provided. While doing a search of the vehicle, I located a small bag inside of the vehicle which contained a
large amount of US Currency.
I advised communications to notify a wrecker service to have the vehicle towed to Lonoke County Sheriff's Office. Carlisle Auto
arrived on scene and towed the vehicle. I transported Paul to Lonoke County Sheriff's Office and placed him in the sally port
while I assisted with processing the evidence. I contacted DEA TFO David Dillon who responded to Lonoke County Sheriff's
Office to take possession of the marijuana.
Post Miranda, Paul stated that he flew from North Carolina to Oklahoma City on 8-
27-23. Paul stated that he paid $28,000 for 32 pounds of Marijuana. Paul stated that he expected to make a 30% profit. Paul
stated that he had done this 1 time prior however he had picked up 10 pounds of marijuana. I charged Paul accordingly.
I transported the U.S Currency to Centennial Bank in Cabot Arkansas. The total amount of currency was $8,228.00. I
completed the ASP 100 form and Paul refused to sign.

Funny thing is he got probation and there is no report of his arrest that I can find. Then all his buddys got arrested. Snitch much?
21:00 He might as well told her to let him go, we got real crimes to attend. What bs!!
He surrendered his drivers licence, yet was "able" to get a rental? Someone purchased a rental for him. Only the person who bought the rental can drive it. Seems really sus to the cops when the unauthorized person is driving it.
He still had the physical license even though the status was surrendered. The rental agency just relied on the physical license. Many times, they don’t have the will or ability to check it like police can.
I've rented at least 50 cars because of my job. The rental agencies will not rent a vehicle to someone without a valid driver's license. They also run your credit card.
That dude did not rent the vehicle. It was rented in NC, but he hadn't even been there and he doesn't have a valid license.
I love Ana’s little comforting phrase “don’t worry about it”. In other words “said the spider to the fly”!
"I gotcha" 😉
"I'm not gonna write you a ticket for that, I'm not worried about that"😉
😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
These drug stops are such a good example of when you should stop talking to police. Some people say that you should never talk to the police, and if you don't know what things you shouldn't say, then I agree. Once you're pretty familiar with the law and what to and not to say, it's less suspicious if you have a friendly conversation with them.
First lesson: If you know you're obviously guilty of a serious felony and you're pretty sure the cops know too, don't say a word aside from identifying yourself. He should have been aware how obvious the odor was and known he was busted once she stuck her head in the window.
Second lesson: When cops are acting too nice, you're probably going to jail. When cops are being too reasonable with you over minor infractions, when you know transporting that much weed across state lines could land you some prison time, her being all cheery should 100% be a red flag.
State troopers and federal enforcement agencies along the gulf coast states specifically target rental vehicles/trailers. To a lesser degree, out-of-state vehicles. The majority of interstate drug trafficking busts come from those two categories.
Trooper Escamilla! Wear gloves when handling those bags! Dangerous drugs, especially Fentanyl is a BIG killer! Please stay safe! From a fellow retired LEO, 25 years of service. ~Nak~
There’s no fent in weed
Shhhh let her touch it

That dude is talking way too much wow😮 !
@drawkcabgnivird All dope heads do and yes marijuana is dope.
When the ASP asks you where you are traveling and you say I flew into Dallas and drove to OKC, your going to be busted by them because they have heard that story a million times and it's all on TH-cam!
Third degree interrogation at a traffic stop.
Pulling someone over for following too close while you don’t have your seat belt on is crazy
He was pulled over for renting a minivan and driving it across state lines. That was an excuse
@@WarrenPuffetExactly, I drive for work, and often use a rental car. The amount of times I have been pulled over for bogus reasons, 2 miles over the limit, etc, just for being in a rental with out of state plates, especially on I-40 in Texas, is un-American. They never find anything of course, but it's happened 5 times in the last year.
Yeah that's a common lie they use to pull over out of state rentals.
She was on the lookout for that van . Tipped off by her bosses in the cartel . Following to close come on now .
They always pull people over for following too close to trailers because it’s a tactic often used by people transporting drugs and obviously we all know they start rubbing their hands together as soon as they see out of state plates
Troopers are NOT stupid. Flying from point 'A', but driving, crossing too many states in a rental car, to get to point 'B' isn't just a red flag. It's a fricking parade with a hundred bullhorns! Funny how they all 'just had a newborn' and 'could you please call my wife?" I don't think that is what your wife meant when she suggested you get a second job.
What is the limit of states before it’s “too many” while driving a rental car?
They blindly enforce devil's lettuce MARIHUANA laws, so therefore they are absolutely stupid.
Maybe dude has no choice and needed the money. He could’ve transported much worse and if he got away with it nobody would’ve died or murdered anyone because of it. Is it better to transport alcohol Just because it’s legal?
There trained to ask a # of questions..
To web u up... 🕸
Or you could just not answer questions 🤷
That following the tractor trailer to close is BS. They pulled out over because it was a rental. I've been there. Fortunately i wasn't trafficking drugs.
This guy gives his life's story because he rode to close to a tractor trailer a complete give away something else is going on. BUSTED!!
Trooper Escamilla got that 6th sense for smugglers of all kinds. All for following vehicles too close.🤣 well done Trooper. 👏
following too close means they had a tip from an informant.
@@avoidemailingme highly unlikely. It's just a random guy with a bunch of weed. Not to mention he's coming from like 3 states away. There was no guarantee he'd even go through Arkansas.
@@avoidemailingmea trooper can pull people over all day every day for following to close. I see people doing every day all the time. You eventually are going to stop one with contraband. But this trooper seems to have a sixth sense for finding contraband.
“Following too close”….every time.
"What New York license plate? I never even noticed."
I will never understand why people answer there dumbass question's when they get pulled over... Y'all literally talk your self into a trip to jail
All not talking will accomplish is them calling for a dog. 😂
@@NoName-ml5ykexactly, the cops don’t need probable cause to run a dog on your car. Personally I think that is ridiculous but it’s what the Supreme Court decided. The only limitation is that the cops can’t unreasonably extend a traffic stop to bring in the dog.
He's in a Hurricane night now!!!😂😂😂😂
So basically, if you drive a sprinter van or a rental vehicle, do not follow too close to anybody because you will get pulled over. I’m sure they will find a reason to pull you over anyways. The cops know what they’re looking for they would’ve pulled them over for any reason it should be illegal. We need to start policing the police.
Funny how she omits to her colleagues the fact she lied and told him she smelled it on him. Lied to search.
They do that ALL the time excuse to bring the dog out and if the dog don't alert they will say he did if they still thinking something is in there
Didnt catch that part. He really is bad at this lol I woulda swore up and down she was profiling me and lying to search my vehicle. And I would've demanded my ticket in a timely manner
He already told her he had it on him. Bro wouldn't shut the f up
never commit a misdemeanor while commiting a felony.
Massive 4th amendment violation
I thought the same...that's some flimsy probable cause at that point.
Good thing she didn't give him a ticket for surrendering this license.
Trooper Escamilla can smell the BS and when she says "I gotta cha" You are DONE. Love Trooper Escamilla! She is my favorite. Her Nana must be so proud of her .I would be.
