On January 7, 2020, Trooper Deryck Lewis with the Florida Highway Patrol conducted a window tint traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Elizabeth Espinoza. The 27-year-old Espinoza told Lewis that she was on her way back from a trip to Texas - where, unfortunately, she had lost her driver's license. As Espinoza wrote down her information for Lewis, the trooper confirmed his suspicion with a tint meter: the windows were unlawfully dark. But that wasn't all the trooper was after. Trooper Chris Nottingham arrived on scene with his K9 partner "Flip," for a free-air sniff around Ms. Espinoza's vehicle. Flip alerted, and Sergeant Joshua Malloy and Trooper Eric Schaub arrived on scene to assist in the vehicle search. While the search was underway, Espinoza utilized her cell phone to make a number of phone calls. During those calls, Espinoza was recorded stating in Spanish, "I'm on my way back. They're checking everything. They haven't found it yet, but they will. I'm not under arrest yet, but they're checking everything. I'm going to lose everything, everything. I'm not getting out of this one. They got the dog on me. They found it." As if the 26 pounds of cocaine were not incriminating enough. Espinoza was federally prosecuted, and was ultimately sentenced to 24 months in prison to be followed by 36 months supervised release. Espinoza was permitted to self-report to prison after January 1, 2021, a few months after her sentencing, however Espinoza got an earlier-than-planned involuntary check-in after she was arrested on December 5, 2020, for battering her live-in boyfriend, who is also the father of her children. Espinoza was out again by January 1, 2022... when she was once again arrested for domestic battery.
It blows my mind that if somebody is going to transport that much money worth of anything illegal they would at the very least have their license ready to go and everything updated with the registration and insurance. Who gets pulled over on a highway for window tint? That's just a legal excuse to use in conducting a planned operation or a tactic for use in states of high trafficking. If random chances of scoring a large bust are that high think about how much gets through every hour of everyday.
I remember hearing an FBI interview of a very successful criminal and one of the things the guy stated that helped him succeed for so long, was that he always kept his vehicle, license, insurance, registration, in proper and legal order. No violations ever. It's amazing to me how many criminals end up caught over just stupid, even ELECTIVE things, that are manifestly illegal.
I've never heard of anyone being pulled over for tint in my state, unless it was the probable cause they were looking for to do a stop. Every unmarked police car I've ever seen almost has limo tint. So why the double standard. We can't risk public safety just because it's a police cruiser, right?
Whose looking in a cop car? They protect and serve us not rob, drug runs, drug use. We don't need to see what they're doing cuz their job is to watch us. Limo tint is called that for a reason. She wasn't driving a limo from what I saw.

Lmfao. Once you’re a felon, you’re forced to commit crime to survive for the rest of your life in America. They knew who she was, where she was going, and what she had on board before she got in her car that morning. They wanted her to make calls while being recorded in the backseat.
Exactly, they are acting on information. Simple to see when you know how it all works. They do this so the informant is protected and the convict thinks it was a random police check.
Yep. Another case of parallel construction of evidence. There is probably an undercover or an informant somewhere who tipped them off, or another agency like DEA, BP, DHS was already surveilling people involved in the operation and passed off a "tip" to the state troopers. And to avoid having to reveal the source information in her trial, they make up a different reason for the stop in the first place. In this case she had tinted windows which made it easy. If not, they just follow until she gets "too close" to another car, touches a lane marker, forgets to signal, or goes slightly too fast or too slow. This isn't a conspiracy theory. There are agencies that already openly admit to this.
Exactly, Have a cop follow you long enough and they will find an excuse to stop you. {edit] if they want/need to. My point being that it is nearly impossible for the average person to drive the speed limit and perform every traffic maneuver to the letter of the law. Not saying that police are just looking for an excuse to stop anyone and everyone.

She was informed on. This is how the DEA stays “behind the scenes”. They get state/local law enforcement to apprehend the suspect to protect themselves and their CIs. They knew she had drugs in the car before they pulled her over. The window tinting was just a ruse to pull her over.

I doubt it was the tints. Pretty sure they got help from the FBI or someone in the upper levels. 26 pounds is a lot of money and uncle sam would not like that at all lol
RULES FOR BEING A DRUG TRAFFICKER WHO WON’T END UP IN PRISON……………………………………………….1) Don’t be dumb enough to use a rental car(those interstate troopers have seen that old trick a million times). 2) Make sure vehicle is 100% Legal. 3)Don’t speed like an idiot 4)Be a driver with no drug or gun charges. 5) Have a valid and squeaky clean drivers license (on you). 6)Have airtight alibi for why you traveling across state lines (everyone in the car should know it by heart). Most drug traffickers in prison broke 1 or up to all 6 of these rules and got busted like the unprepared fools that they are.
I’m sorry but you sound like you’ve watched too many tv-shows/movies…. I’ve made a - ehhh know a friend whose made a few cross state runs. Nothing of this magnitude but the rules remain the same. 1.) This was right when I knew you didn’t know what you’re talking about. Rental, to this day, the way to go for so many reasons. The main being, well, that’s what civilians traveling cross country do, you fit right in to any other tourist, business trip traveler, also; yeah this person was tipped. They already had a profile on that maroon dodge caravan/journey. Rentals all that off, not if your part of a ongoing investigation. But for random tips, also no bs window tint, listened plate light, etc traffic violations. And lastly, if you gonna fight the case once sh*t hits the fan. A good lawyer might even can use the rental in your favor, I’ve seen everything to the rental company not having documentation of car being inspected/cleaned out and trying to prove that shit wasn’t already in the fender wells when I picked it up? Or that probable cause search from Marijuana smell? It’s been in here since I picked it up.. 2.) Obviously, your right here. But rental voids this rule alltogether 3. I don’t even think she was speeding. I would say go 5 over tbh, everyone else goes 10-15 over so your actually going to stand out going 70 in a 70…. 4.) Not really going to make or break you. Yeah that will pop up, but prior charges alone isn’t probable cause to search.. 5.) listened doesn’t need to be squeaky clean? Just valid, and legitimate. 6.) Not at all, coming up with a alibi multiple people have to remember and tell during the most stressful moment of their life. Good luck with that. 1. Don’t have a car full of people when hot??? 2. You owe no explanation to where you came from, where your headed, or what you’re doing.. Don’t be an ass about it but be respectful, direct, and show awareness of rights, laws without saying “I know my rights” a lot of times, if it’s some random trooper fishing, trying to get over on east targets. He will sense this know it’s not worth his time, and keep it moving. Obviously this all dependent on the fact you got your shit in order, and there actually being no probable cause. The thing I see oh so often is weed smell, or deer in headlights effect where ppl just get to nervous talking, over explaining, laughing and shit. That in of itself if bad enough can be probable cause. Also, know the major hubs, hit spots. Try and move along those weekdays during rush hour. Not 2am. Wrap your shit, coat it with stuff proven to throw off scent tracking dogs. I won’t say what, but there’s a couple in your house right now probably, or at every hotel I stayed at. .. This is what my friend told me anyways.

You could tell this definitely was not her first time running dope. She has done this a few times before. She was pretty chill for having that much weight. I would be worried about my family being liable since that much weight was lost. Hopefully her kids and her will be ok.
The thing is, is that big cartels push so much weight through that honestly don't care if a couple of their mules get stopped. It's "the send as many as you can, they can't stop them all" tactic, that most big time cartels use, because if even just a couple make thier way in, it more than cover the costs of the lost packages. Heck, one of the tactics of Pablo Escobar used was to get one of their delivery's "caught" so that police's attention would be off of the other delivery's. Another one was to fill up a couple of speedboats full of "product" and than rush them to the florida coast, and even if the police caught one they others would get away. They lost money, but it was worth it because they were able to get a LOT more in. It was considered an acceptable risk/loss, just like you'd have in other more traditional businesses Also while it is no doubt a ton of money lost, to them it's just a drop in the bucket and as long as she doesn't rat out or become an informant, she's probably good and has no need to worry her and her families safety. They know this is just a big waiting game, and that eventually one of their runners WILL be caught.
There's almost a hint of appreciation for her in your comment. Just something to note: she has several charges for battery on her boyfriend, the father of her children.
It has nothing to do with the first rodeo. It's about the people we're around that keeps us so calm our people make us more nervous than the police or any arrest specially if we know we are going in. We don't talk and we are safe inside.
Just wish channels like these would give a update especially when it’s been 2 years. Channel is big enough and generating enough money to take that extra step. First mistake was that she sped up in front of a cop car! Ask anyone from Florida and they’ll tell you, you don’t do that sh*t, you see a cop and you start driving like a senior citizen with no where to go lmao
Not true. It depends on how fast the cop is going and what the speed limit is you can drive 5 miles over the limit to pass a police car. I've done it Plenty of times...The thing you missing is someone sold her out the cop that pulled her over just used the excuse about her tenant window. He never called the cop with the dog he just happen to be driving down the highway...unbelievable
so your advice is to start acting suspiciously and like you are up to something and don't want to be caught. no thanks, I'll pass the cop. has never been an issue for me because I'm not driving around with bricks of coke in my car.
Tint is not a reason for inspection. The canine should’ve never sniffed in the first place if the stop was about her tint. And they never asked to search, they did it while her back was turned. A good lawyer would get this taken care of.
It's a knock off it was a tip off...usually the arresting county has the tip...now if you want to see who your snitch or informant is you have to plead not guilty. Either way that's alot of dope someone is going to die, As for the drugs off the streets, that's just a grain of sand on the beach...just look at what Brandon has done to our southern border
For those that are commenting about how this stop unfolded, and why K9 was there as quickly as it was, look up FHP's "Criminal Interdiction Unit" (CIU). Normal FHP Troopers wear the tan uniforms and are...a majority of the time seen in Chargers. This Trooper is wearing the black tactical uniform, wearing a CIU Hat, and is driving an SUV (which is also a sign that he's CIU since he's definitely not commercial vehicle enforcement). While I don't have any inside knowledge on how FHP operates, understanding that CIU is a unit tasked with tackling drug trafficking, a simple window tint violation wouldn't be something he would stop a car for on it's own. He either spotted something else about the vehicle or had additional information about the registered owner or the contents of the vehicle prior to stopping it.
Well no shit but they need probable cause for a stop so they have to find something.., how new are you to this? Standard procedure for All interdiction officers….

This is most likely to be used in california LAPD, and is something many cops denies of its existence, but previous rumors have state the existence of such device.

Allowed to sit in the back of the squad card unrestrained with a felonius amount of coke found, allowed to make phone calls to show who the load was for, allowed to chill while they looked for more, calm demeanor the entire time, this lady got caught up somewhere else and ratted on the plug. She was obviously just a mule.
i mean lets be real, nobody in charge of cocaine trafficking in 2022 is letting a driver load up a car with illegal tints unless they're supposed to be bait
I don't agree at all. She made herself hot when she drove past the cop in the beginning. I got detained during a gun charge search but they didn't cuff me or put me in the cop car. . If you pay close attention notice how they didn't allow her to make the call until she was on camera in the back of there car so she would do exactly what she did, incriminate herself, she asked repeatedly but they waited . Her calm demeanor shows she's been doing this for a long time and she already knows the drill. She even said I'm not getting out of it this time. I think she was getting paid good money to do it and she got sloppy. Her biggest downfall was speeding past the cop then slowing down. If your gonna do the speed limit stay behind him dummie. Especially if you got drugs. Cops always run plates and look for someone to arrest
Kinda have to agree with you, seen enough to know that she got burned. Usually have decoy with small load while the larger load is being moved. She probably has done these small loads for awhile, but she got burned to protect the larger load. ATF does great job tracking and catching these people, this felt partly set up, down to the having a tow shop willing to let them do the search.
Yup 100% looked like a setup, from the tint which is a rookie mistake that nobody would make unintentionally, to the convenient K9, to the chill demeanor and the treatment she received, everything checks out perfectly. The only thing I'm wondering is if she was in on it knowing she'd be a mule
I’ve seen the “TOUGHEST” break down over waaaaay less, I definitely see why someone trusted & chose her for that move smh I’ll be prayin for them kids.
That is not toughness. Toughness is doing everything possible not to be in a situation were you won't be able to take care of your kids. That is tought, this is weakness. She was so weak she was convinced this was a good plan.
Why would anyone trust her to make this move when she just laid down and said search the car. She should have said lawyer immediately after she heard canine hit on your car.
She should have never made that phone call, shouldn’t have drove without her license, shouldn’t have drove with illegal tint and more. These drug traffickers need to have all their stuff legit and drive the speed limit. Also dogs alerting is literally the equivalent to flipping a coin research shows, they just want to please their master. That being said, these cops knew she was trafficking it’s not a random stop
@@time4u2losethe-take-over25 the dogs in fact do alert to the scent. Yes they want to please their master however are trained to alert on any scent they are trained to pick up on.

The feeling sitting in the back of a cop car, knowing your life is about to be effected in such a negative way… one of the worst feelings ever. You feel bad, then remember we all get ourselves in these situations. Hope she straightens out
No we all do not get into these situations where we get caught with several pounds of cocaine. This woman deserves to spend the rest of her life in jail and no sympathy from anyone whatsoever. She is trash and deserves to be treated as such.
She got a 5 star service , No cuffs, Adjusted air conditioner, cold water, kind nice conversation, all she needed was a good meal while she was waiting and she would have been good to go
Part of the plan she’s the mule she’s not important and they know that whoever takes the risk is usually the dummy and he was smart keep her comfortable because now they need more information which her freedom may rely on now
I have to say...it's hilarious that these people have pounds of drugs, driving with illegal tints AND without a license....the brilliance is unfathomable
U don’t understand tho when u make mistakes early in life it almost seems impossible to get it all back . I’m sure she would love a license and love to not sell drugs if she could feed her family any other way .. bills still gotta get paid ….
The cops “tint” conversation was a mental tactic to keep her calm. It literally gives her the illusion that she may be going home and keeps her calm. As weird and unbelievable as it sounds it’s true and is taught in academies all over.
She knew the gig was up when she made the phone call in the back of the police vehicle. She made several incriminating statements… as seen in this section 8:32. At 9:51 the officers put several packages on the hood of the car she was being held in, I don’t know how she could maintain the story that she didn’t know what was going on. She has a helluva poker face…
That don’t make any sense! If there was no k9, the policeman would have to let her go. He could never get into the car since she was calm an never nervous. They like that nervousness, it pretty much tells them somethings up
@@beeirving783 she never made any incriminating statements at least not on the phone call she made. All she said was “I need Maria to go pick up the kids. They just pulled me over. They have me detained. They have a dog and the k9 smelled something so idk. I was pulled over because of the tint” she never said anything else that was in the yellow text in the video. @@stephencamara2047 As well as the fact that the rule that if you give respect you tend to get respect generally applies to these situations. So does the rule that in general you should keep your mouth shut as much as possible when interacting with law enforcement.
In all fairness, so was the lady. She was polite, courteous and didn't deny any of it. She took it on the chin and got a pretty light sentence for it. Every other video like this has the criminal being a jackass and lying to police even after they have found it and it's on video and everything. I'm not saying what she did was right, it's a felony for a reason... But she at least handled the while thing very well. Especially in comparison to all the other people who get caught.
They found it."
As if the 26 pounds of cocaine were not incriminating enough.

It's because she didn't have a camera documenting their interaction. Cops can deal professionally with burglars, armed robbers, rapists, and murderers, but point a camera at them to protect your rights, and they flip out and become unruly playground bullies.
Making her watch them discover the drugs is absolutely brutal

This is something normal any highway cops do or border town police its normal procedure to run the dog around every cst they stop its how all cops working the highways catch smuggling border patrol does the same thing
It's a numbers game the more cars you stop the more of a chance you have to do what's called an open air sniff ie walking the dog around the vehicle and then this happens and you find a load
They knew who she was, where she was going, and what she had on board before she got in her car that morning. They wanted her to make calls while being recorded in the backseat.
Exactly, they are acting on information. Simple to see when you know how it all works. They do this so the informant is protected and the convict thinks it was a random police check.
They got a tip off… to distract them while the real mule drives by.
Of course since when do they randomly bring K9’s out??

But rental voids this rule alltogether
I won’t say what, but there’s a couple in your house right now probably, or at every hotel I stayed at.

that was my first thought, that money is no joke.
It was considered an acceptable risk/loss, just like you'd have in other more traditional businesses
Also while it is no doubt a ton of money lost, to them it's just a drop in the bucket and as long as she doesn't rat out or become an informant, she's probably good and has no need to worry her and her families safety.
Standard procedure for All interdiction officers….

i mean lets be real, nobody in charge of cocaine trafficking in 2022 is letting a driver load up a car with illegal tints unless they're supposed to be bait
@@johnnybananas1058 and a bad driver's license she didn't even have it on her she said she had a picture of it. 😆
Yea she really stayed solid! I hope she changes her life cause she seems like a nice person
@@freshbaiii718 A very violent nice person. Lol.
That is not toughness. Toughness is doing everything possible not to be in a situation were you won't be able to take care of your kids. That is tought, this is weakness. She was so weak she was convinced this was a good plan.
@@svenzia it depends on what u consider violent lol
Why would anyone trust her to make this move when she just laid down and said search the car. She should have said lawyer immediately after she heard canine hit on your car.
She definitely snitched only getting 24 months
She should have never made that phone call, shouldn’t have drove without her license, shouldn’t have drove with illegal tint and more. These drug traffickers need to have all their stuff legit and drive the speed limit. Also dogs alerting is literally the equivalent to flipping a coin research shows, they just want to please their master. That being said, these cops knew she was trafficking it’s not a random stop
Thank you captain hindsight.. lol
Her conversation was recorded.
A few random mistakes, got her caught. Good police work, is all . No conspiracy here .
@@time4u2losethe-take-over25 the dogs in fact do alert to the scent. Yes they want to please their master however are trained to alert on any scent they are trained to pick up on.
Yeahhh pretty much well known K9s are just a way to search your vehicle without probable cause and not indicating you were snitched on already.
This is hilarious. The way the officer keeps talking about the ticket after they found all that coke. 😂 that is the least of her worries.
foreallll lmao fuck that little ticket 🤣
See I’m a good guy I’m gonna cut you a break cause I’m your friend 😂😂😂
Yeah I was laughing about that too haha
My jaw literally dropped in awe when he said that lol
@The King:FACTS!!! I was saying the same thing. They gonna try to flip her though and use her Kid’s for leverage.I’m also pretty sure with that much weight and her being that young the Fed’s will probably be involved. She’s looking solid so far.
The lives of all the addicts she keeps pebbling too don't matter right?
I've never experienced being in the back of a police car. Don't commit crimes and more than likely you will not end up in her situation.
True. Every American’s right of passage is getting busted with 27lbs of coke. We were all there at one point!
@@markrobertdevison1227 you’ve never had fun before I take it 🤔
I like that trooper very decent respectful and professional as hell.
She got a 5 star service , No cuffs, Adjusted air conditioner, cold water, kind nice conversation, all she needed was a good meal while she was waiting and she would have been good to go
perhaps a line or two as well while waiting
@@Deceptin Because she was being respectful and cooperative.
Bait and switch
Part of the plan she’s the mule she’s not important and they know that whoever takes the risk is usually the dummy and he was smart keep her comfortable because now they need more information which her freedom may rely on now
something something rampant white police violence against minority women something something neglected something
The Police Officer was extremely professional, well done! And good for her for complying from the start!
He pulled her over for bullshit. He was fishing.
@@naysaynetwork5271 don't pull in front cops
@@pikasnipe1 no. These cops camp out. They profile and create bullshit reasons for stops.
@John Sampson bingo
@@pikasnipe1 i always go past it usually makes you less suspicious than purposely not
I have to say...it's hilarious that these people have pounds of drugs, driving with illegal tints AND without a license....the brilliance is unfathomable
It's better for the law abiding public if the criminals are dumb, they're easier to apprehend.
You forgot speeding past the marked police car instead of driving a bit more incognito.
If you're going to get pulled over Trooper Deryck Lewis seems like a nice bloke, never hurts to be kind to the less intelligent members of society
The people that take these mule jobs are dummies like most criminals
U don’t understand tho when u make mistakes early in life it almost seems impossible to get it all back . I’m sure she would love a license and love to not sell drugs if she could feed her family any other way .. bills still gotta get paid ….
She got snitched on. Dogs and all come on.
They like that nervousness, it pretty much tells them somethings up
Lmao no it ain’t
She knew what was up once she was being detained .
Like “they haven’t found it yet, I’m losing everything or I’m not getting out of this one.”
This is the nicest cop I've ever seen !! Seriously someone at his department needs to take notice how respectful he is even in the situation he's handling..wow
Hes being nice because that's what He's trained to do in this situation. He knows she just the runner. If he's nice he might get more info out of her on who the supplier is.
@@stephencamara2047 As well as the fact that the rule that if you give respect you tend to get respect generally applies to these situations. So does the rule that in general you should keep your mouth shut as much as possible when interacting with law enforcement.
She’s cute
@@stephencamara2047 well they are all "trained" to do it..BUT they DONT USUALLY APPLY it:) he is very respectful
He wants her to talk lol of course he's being nice.
This officer was so nice and considerate. Very professional and compassionate
I probably been arrest/stopped by the police 100x, only one times i got choke and slamed, other than that everything played out fined.
I agree! He was very professional
So was she to be fair.
The only thing I don't get it iz why black folks r getting so fucking revved up!!!!! 4 real 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why does Floria have window tint laws? how does that even make sense?? its hot AF! Other states not that far south have 0 laws on it...
