Velasquez is the one that has serious limitations because she can do only Filipino Pop. She’s bad at all attempts at musical theater songs, doesn’t have the light & sunny quality needed for Disney songs, and is too chesty and untrained for classical. Too screechy for standard pop and sounds very second-rate and Trying Hard next to Barbra Streisand.
For decades knew only how to scream and now that that poor “technique” has completely ruined her squeaky - and now hoarse -. voice, even the screamed Filipino Pop songs are now an epic fail.

Regine said she wanted Lea to be the only guest for her live digital birthday concert. And she wasn't sure that time if Lea would say yes because lea's schedule is full. Regine said she's honored and so blessed because Lea actually said yes.
Di rin kasi compatible vocal textures nila!....LS is not comfortable with high notes she's under control and works best from low notes to average notes that's why do talaga aya pumiyok, di ka talaga pumiyok pag di mataas ang nota ang kakantahin mo!....technically this is the most main reason di sila pinagpares sa mga concerts talaga lalo na sabayan na nila Regine is so obvious was adjusting her voice going low a bit to compensate Leah's vocal pitch....

Even when she did the fb live concert (charity) she just used an iphone earphone and put a speaker near her phone to hear the music. There was a picture on the internet about her set up.
may sound engineer po for the mixing of the sound. try it for yourself use the earphones as mic and let's see if you get the same result as perfect as this. the whole duet was processed. it is not as raw as most think it is.

There is something in Regine's voice that you will be carried away.....her voice is so flexible it can turned soft, big, thinner, wide, etc with matured tone...

Yes I agree Regine is more sikat dito sa pinas kasi iba yung type of music ng mga pinoy, but Lea is more successful internationally and world stage. Madaming mga bagong philippine singers ang kayang maging Regine kagaya ni Sarah Geronimo, pero no one yet in the philippine ang pweding maging Leah Salonga...Lea Salonga is incomparable. This was the 50th birthday concert of Regine Velasquez. It was a benefit concert for Bantay Bata(it aims to protect disadvantaged and at-risk children through a nationwide network of social services). Regine personally asked Lea to sing with her and she said Yes right away. Regine is doing free concert to raise funds for Bantay Bata Foundation. Thank you for reacting Ovela. Take care always.

Leah Salonga is a Broadway Singer. You probably know it already but she was the lead actress for Miss Saigon in 1989, and won the Tony Awards for lead actress-Musical in 1991 making her the 1st asian woman to win Tony Awards. She was the first actress of Asian descent to play the roles of Éponine and Fantine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway. She is theatrically trained! Ovela, Lea precision is beyond question. That’s her mark. She’s a perfectionist. Vocal coaches always say her precision is almost like computerized due to accuracy. She reads music. Legends say the accompaniment could sometimes get lost but never Lea.
And lea is pitch perfect.

This is my theory on how this was possible:
1. Regine pre-recorded an audio of her part.
2. She sent the audio to Lea for her to sing over it.
3. Lea then recorded herself singing over the pre-recorded audio, and sent the video to Regine.
4. Then, Regine recorded a video of herself lipsyncing over the audio sent by Lea (or probably even before Lea sent her part)
5. If you watch the whole concert, Regine's camera shifted places in that performance.
6. Also, the brown tumbler beside her is missing in this performance.
Which is why their harmony is sooooo perfect 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

lea sings the melody while regine sings over and under lea's notes. it will be difficult for regine to harmonize pag di niya naririnig ang boses ni lea. so it should be lea first then regine doing the second voice.
Since regine sings many songs because it is a digital concert, it is natural Lea's is the one prerecorded because it is just a segment. It is obvious how her voice turn out like that even she was just using an earphone.

Regine sang live to Lea's recording. But these songs are right within Lea's comfort zone, and she sang without any additions. And as fabulous as Regine is, she is the queen while Lea is Overlord of the Universe.
P.S. Lea is a self-admitted perfectionist. No way would she "let herself go" under any circumstances while performing.
What I truly love in this COLLAB is that it was never about showing off. It was not about "hey I can hit these notes" or "look how I nail the runs". It was about the songs. It was about bringing the audience inside the stories within the songs. Because of that the performance was so balanced. No one outshone someone. It was soooooo balanced that it was a exceptional experience.
If you watch all of Regine's duets, you will notice how she performs whenever she sings with formidable singers. It's different. She becomes even better WITHOUT outshining the other.
