    Borsellino Carpentry is a construction company located in Upstate New York. I specialize in small residential remodeling jobs. This channel is dedicated to teaching other contractors, carpenters, small business owners, DIYers, weekend warriors and anyone else who just wants to learn a little bit about home improvement. The full name of the company is actually Borsellino Carpentry & Home Repair, LLC but that is just too much of a mouthful! I also do tool reviews, business tips and other contractor related videos on this channel. In the wintertime I even do snow plowing videos. I try to mix it up and show all the parts of the contracting job, not just the glorious finished product. Please leave me a comment and let me know if there's any specific topics or jobs you'd like me to cover. Thanks for watching! 👋😃

      Hey thanks! I have a lot of these videos but I think this might be the only one with roof mounted! By far my favorite view so hopefully I'll get more like this next season. The GoPro doesn't like the cold though so it doesn't always cooperate when outside during winter!!!

    ... Just thought I’d check in on you here dude, and see how the world of snow plowing has been treating you😬..... It has absolutely sucked for me here in New England haha... I haven’t had a good winter in at least the past 4+ years 😞... We have had a very minimal amount of snow and it is killing me... I was sure this year would be busy with a ton of snow but so far we’ve received about 5in total for my area... I am almost on the verge of maybe traveling to where the snow is and try to make some money that way... Honestly, I just miss plowing!!!... I never thought I’d actually come out and say that haha, but I really do... I went from being the plow king with my awesome Fisher Stainless Extreme V plow, and operating a D980 with a 18ft protec pusher box (not mine and only filled in for my buddy who owns it when he needed help) to doing virtually no snow plowing at all.... I was plugged in with my buddy who had / has awesome contracts, but there has just not been any snow to push.... Driveways kept me going for a bit when it started to slow down with the weather some years ago, but now it’s just depressing haha... a lot of people in my area have purchased snow blowers because they went WAY DOWN in price the past few years, now not so many people count on the Plow King to save them 😞.... I’m going to have to remaster and learn the fish stick all over again now because it’s been so long hahaha...on a positive note, the plow is still in excellent shape and is as great as the day I bought it👍.... I was bored and installed all new hoses, and got a spare cutting edge , and did a fluid and filter change... it didn’t need the hoses, but they are the original ones, and I really didn’t want to press my luck, because you know they will either all pop at the same time, or at the most inconvenient time and place possible haha... I haven’t had to change my cutting edge in like 5yrs!! That’s insane... when I say not much or hardly any snow, I really mean it... I truly hope you are having much better luck than I am brother.... When you have an awesome piece of equipment like these plows it is actually really fun to do... The reliability and production that these specific plows provide is second to none IMHO👍👍.... you did really well when you bought in on your plow... I have seen new ones go for as much as 12k for these plows!!! But that is for the 10.5ft one... The absolute best price I found was from a place I have dealt with for MANY years, and get all my stuff from, and the best he could do for me was a little over 7k for the entire package of an 8.5ft stainless, complete, installed or not, that includes push plates, all wiring, module, fish stick, and includes the new plow lights, that are fuggn totally awesome if you’ve seen them yet.... retail price is 700 bucks EACH, and you need an upgraded harness and module if you’re installing them on anything more than like a year or two old... That’s nuts, but they are absolutely the plow lights you will ever see... I’m almost tempted to get them, but I know if I do, it will not snow for another five years haha... I hope this year is good to you and you make out great👍👍...

      HEY! Boston just got pounded with a big storm so I guess you got your wish!!! It has been a very slow year I've only plowed a handful of times and I love plowing so when we have a light winter, it sucks. I closed my construction business down and focus just on plowing in the winter so when it doesn't snow I definitely get discouraged. I love my fisher too. I switched to Boss for 1 year and hated it after the first storm and wanted to return it. I rode it out that year and traded it in for another fisher which is the one I have now. Love this thing! I had some issues with my original yellow fisher but I think it was mostly user error because I was new to plowing. I understand much better now how they operate and what NOT to do! LOL . Thanks for the comment and safe plowing out there!!!

    Is this the 8’6” or 9’6” Xtreme V??? Any issues with Fisher? Are they good reliable plows?

    • @BorsellinoHomeServices
      @BorsellinoHomeServices  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      8'6". I haven't had many issues with this one. I had a hydraulic leak but it was an easy fix. My old fisher when I first started plowing I beat the crap out of and it had recurring issues but that was mainly user error. I get the fluid changed every year and that's all I've done so far.

    • @BorsellinoHomeServices
      @BorsellinoHomeServices  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i personally wouldn't put a plow on a half ton truck but i've seen them on them before. The 3/4 ton trucks are much heavier duty and have additional equipment that will help your truck last longer like a better alternator, skid plates, and more that i dont really know for sure haha. if you were just doing your own driveway it would be fine but i would take on a full plow route with it.

    Does your truck have diesel or gas engine? Which would you recommend for plowing?

    • @BorsellinoHomeServices
      @BorsellinoHomeServices  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine is a gasser but if you can afford the extra 10 grand for a diesel truck I would say diesel. I've read you need to drive 30k miles per year to really offset the cost of ownership or something like that. I drive about 10k miles per year with my truck and use it for carpentry/home repair so I can't really justify the expense of a diesel. They are a lot heavier so you get better traction. The first year I plowed I was in an old f-350 diesel dually small dump truck. That thing could move some serious snow!!! The guys that I know that have diesels really love them, but they all have heavy weight they haul or large equipment and they rack up a lot of miles so the diesel is really better for all of them in the longrun. Nothing wrong with a gas truck though... maintenance costs are less and it will always startup when its -20 degrees and diesels might need to be plugged in for the engine heater.

      @@BorsellinoHomeServices thanks! I'm looking to get into snow removal. Any advice for someone just getting into it?

    • @BorsellinoHomeServices
      @BorsellinoHomeServices  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DansAdventureChannel well I've gotten a lot of comments regarding my prices being too low but nobody seems to listen to me when I keep saying I'm one of the most expensive guys in town already. So it's good to have an idea of what the other guys are charging in your area to base your prices off of. I've got lots of advice actually, maybe I'll make a video about it. Be prepared for a very strange sleep schedule. Some days I don't get to sleep at all. Some days I get a couple hours of sleep. Sometimes I sleep during the day and plow all night. Then there will be weeks that you get up all night to check snow and the weathermen were wrong and there's no snow. Just be prepared for that LOL. Once you actually get plowing, take it easy. Go slow. Learn what your truck can and can't do. You WILL get stuck, so load up your truck with sandbags, a shovel and a pull chain or strap so you can flag down some random passerby to yank you out. The sandbags add weight to the truck. Add at least 600 lbs but 1000 would be better, right between the wheelwells. Then when you get stuck you can break open a bag and get some traction. Don't backdrag too much or you'll get stuck on your own pile. Don't that too many times.... then you have to dig out under the truck and plow to free yourself. Watch some videos to get some ideas of technique. Everyone does it a little different I'm sure so you'll find what works for you. And every driveway is different. Some driveways it takes me a few years before I figure out the best way to do it. Oh and be careful not to drive on the lawn and lift your plow a little if you have to push on the grass before it's frozen because you'll just cause a bunch of damage. Yeah, I should definitely make a video because I'm just getting started....... You planning to start next year?
