Great vid and a nice choice in shifter, however, I do have a comment. Regarding 'splitting the cog'. Yes, in real life simply kicking the throttle after you have thrown the splitter will get ya the OD on the gear you are in without moving the shifter. Just like changing gears on an Eaton 10/13/18 speed gearbox, you don't need to use the clutch, just kicking the throttle to take tension off the gear, moving the shifter to neutral then kicking the revs to the desired range for the next gear is enough to change. We (truckies) only ever use the clutch for start and stop. Once moving it is just rev-matching and straight shifting. That being said... With the splitter, the majority of us will move the shifter to neutral then back into the gear as it just seems to split smoother. Example; (this literally happens in the time it takes to move the shifter to neutral and back into the gate, half a second if that. Will just seem long due to the step by step layout) The truck is in 8 direct (position 4, bottom right of the pattern). Climbing rev range to 1,800 RPM (Cummins ISX15) Flick splitter forward Release throttle while pushing the stick forward (as the tension releases, the shifter will just fall out of the gate back to neutral) Kick throttle to hit 1,600 RPM (assuming the revs have dropped below 1,600 RPM) Pull stick back into position 4 (bottom right of the pattern) Continue driving For the game (as there is no tension on the shifter) I would just follow the exact same process, push the stick forward as I release the throttle, etc. I own two trucks and operate in Australia, mainly doing 'roll on roll off', interstate work. Trucking is a passion :) If you guys (viewers) enjoy ATS/ETS then I HIGHLY suggest you get into the real thing, if you like trucks, there is no going back :) Here is a video of me driving out of Sydney in an Australian Kenworth T900 with an N14 Cummins @600HP and 22 series 18speed Eaton. Thiers a massive shortage of truck drivers in the United States, companies are paying much higher than normal get your Cdl and learn a trade you can fall back on easily into your sixties. Get some experience and hop over to the oilfield hauling haz-mat like I'm doing you'll jump over to atleast $100k a year or more

I just got a Logitech G gear shift and a shifter knob but I'm having problems getting it to work. My pc says that they both connected but when I go into the game setting I only have my wheel/pedals and the shift knob. I don't have drop down option for the gear shift. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
So if you are driving a truck in ats with a 18 speed transmission and you switch to a different truck that has a 13 or ten speed transmission so what would you do in that case
How do you even set up your logitech shifter for 18 speeds? I don't have the replacement knob for this yet. I have to wait and get it in a couple of months.
So, why can't we have reverse in the real position and follow shifting the rest like normal? It's almost triggering that I can't setup a normal true shift pattern lol
How do you set up the higher gears? Gears 1-4 are easy enough, but gears above that do not seem to be programmable? I have tried using the range button but all it does is say "gear 1 N/A" when I assign the 5th gear, which is where it would be on a truck H-shifter. You might want to do another video which is more in depth in assigning gears. Like I said, assigning the first four gears are easy enough, but then there are four more gears that need to be assigned if using a 10 speed, then four more if using a 13 speed and four more after that if using a 18 speed and if you are using a range and splitter.
It will automatically do it. If you have the proper transmission selected, when you flip your split/range switch it will go to 5 after leaving 4th gear. When I look at an eaton, 5th is in the 1 position. It will do it once you flip the switch on the way to 5th
@@laurencefausold5555 no problem! I actually ran into that last night when I re set my game up. It had range splitter I believe as the transmission. Not the 18 speed like I use so that messes it up.

Make sure your using a transmission that works with the transmission you have on your truck make sure you use a Eaton fuller. Because you can’t use the other non Eaton fullers
Yeap, very easy - just make sure that LL and Revers go far right, then you really have 1st gear from the far top left. You will use most of the time 1-4 gear slots. I got mine range set for left paddle and splitter for some far left button on the wheel.
lol yep im pretty sure it was that, i forgot i got a new pc and i never installed the drivers for the shifter on this because i usually use my fanatec shifter@@RyaStream
Lol. I'm retired of over 30 years of driving otr and the actual proper way of shifting an 18 speed using the splitter dude, you do have to come out into neutral and then back into gear!!! That's the realistic way. Stick with what you you know except what is real or not real because what you said wasn't true. The rest of your info was excellent though.
ah ok thanks for the info. i have driven trucks in real life for 17 years and when i drove a 13 speed you could absolutely float the split. maybe its different in an 18 speed or with different transmissions but i did it for many years floating splits on a 13.
I’ve got a problem, whenever I turn the wheel on my mouse just will non stop go down and I can press anything. When the wheel is unplugged it works! But I can’t change the shifter or wheel settings 😢
This is still confusing to me because I really needed to see where you put it for gears 3 and 4. And you only do 1 and 2. I tried doing exactly what you did and took a guess on where you would of done 3 and 4. I want something accurate is it not possible to have a fully accurate placement as compared to real 13 or 18 gear transmission? I need to practice for my cdl
You may have misunderstood what I was saying about mapping each gear. The game recreates the 18 or 13 after setting up the controls. When setting it up just map the gear positions how I showed you to your shifter in a normal fencepost pattern. Then afterwards, when you select the 13 or 18 transmission in your truck, the proper shifting pattern will work

It's alot harder. 4 devices vs 3. Pedals, wheel, shifter, vs pedals, wheel, shifter and 1 to 2 keyboard buttons.
