    My experience has been that all these methods work better in theory than practice. Many, many things in a complex timeline do not translate properly and it can be quite a headache fixing them all. This works the best for simple timelines (cuts only). It's not a magic bullet.

      Always more than meets the eye! Can you share some of your solutions for more complex timelines?

    When I do this resolve says "file not found" and then my media says "offline" my audio works just fine though.. any thoughts on why this might be and how to fix it? Thanks.

    This video is really good but aren't you missing a part in the ending? How are you supposed to replace the non colour graded footage in the original sequence with the new footage so as to have all the transitions, effects and motion graphics where they are supposed to go? Thanks

    • @kiranlalani
      @kiranlalani 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just put the new colour graded footage in the copy of the timeline you made before exporting it to Davinci, you want to send only the video to davinci so it can replace the original footage you had in premire. She just deleted the effects and audio to make the export process and XML file simpler.

    Great video! New Problem: 24fps timeline in premiere pro using 24fps and 120fps clips. When i import the XML. timeline into Davinci it only imports the 24fps Clips and cant find the 120 fps clips. Does anyone have a solution to this?

    • @MASVfast
      @MASVfast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you liked it! Maybe export the 120fps clips individually with the time adjustments/effects (at 24fps), and replace the original 120fps clips with these exports in the timeline. Then export the xml and import to Davinci!

    I'm struggling with this process with a complex edit that has multiple layers. The XML back to premiere renders each layer with a black background so you can't see layers underneath. Any thoughts?

  • @philippestenier

    Hi, that's great, thanks! What do you have under the advanced settings (data levels, Color tags, Gamma Tags, etc) when exporting your Premiere XML and why? These can give very different results.
    Also, is there a reason why you're exporting the Premiere XML in Prores 422 instead 4444?
    Thanks!

    • @MASVfast
      @MASVfast  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No specific reason for choosing 422 over 4444; I simply selected an option for the purposes of the demo. Regarding the advanced settings, I kept the default settings that were applied after selecting my codec. In my experience, I haven't had to modify them unless I was exporting for a specific use case such as broadcast or VFX. It's a fantastic suggestion for a follow-up video. Thank you for your comment!

      Thanks for the feedback! By import files, do you mean the EDL/XML or actual source footage?

  • @MegaMauke

    is there any kind of Quality or Data downgrade in case of Raw footage for example ?
    i mean, i cutting Raw footage in premiere, use an AAF to colour grade in Davinci and send it finally back to premiere with an AAF file. After this Timeline rendering is my footage still on Top or have i lost Data in the progress ?

    • @MASVfast
      @MASVfast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you export the first AAF in Premiere you don't lose any quality as it is only a copy of your Raw files. When you finish doing the color grading in Davinci and export back to Premiere, new color graded files will be exported in high res so you can use them in Premiere. Every time you export/transcode a raw file there will be some kind of compression (quality loss) but this can be minimal if you use the right codecs/formats. You can also export in lossless that maintains original quality but this create really big files.

    Hi. Thanks for that video, very helpful. But i have a situation a little bit complex, what if my editor (i´m doing the color) ask for the complete clips colored, i mean at the delivery the exported clips have the duration of it´s time in the edit, but maybe, when he receives it and show to the client, have to adjust a minimal some cut and if he had the entere clip colored we don´t had to do the complete process again. Did it sounds good to you? Is there any way to do that fast? The only way i know for that will be through the media management.... Thanks for the help!

    • @MASVfast
      @MASVfast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When exporting the AAF of your color-graded clips, in Advanced Settings, you can add up to 9999 frames of handles.This will export before and after frames of the selected cut, allowing for editing adjustments after color grading. However, I would suggest having a final locked cut before any color grading. It's not very time-efficient to color grade all complete clips, and it would have to be done manually.

    what about the effect i add in premier pro? like crossfade or any effect from premier pro? still confused... can you plzzz tell me..

    • @MASVfast
      @MASVfast  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to remove all effects from Pr sequence before exporting the XML (or the others) to DaVinci. Or you could export that fx clip individually so the effect is baked in. Then replace the old clip with the exported one in the sequence before creating your XML.

    hey i did it same as u. but when im exporting the graded footage as an premiere file i have the xml plus all the singel files rendert with tones of gb. is this normal? is it possible to do this just with an graded davinci xml for premiere

    • @MASVfast
      @MASVfast  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, DaVinci will export an xml and all the color graded clips with it. It needs to export all the single clips as Premiere wont be able to read the color grading you did in Davinci. You could export just an XML from DaVinci as well but it will just have the editing structure and not the correction in color.
