    Hi Tim that will be a nice tank when finished. I'm a welder by trade, and have been building tanks for years. I know you said there would be no tank liner. I didn't know if you new of a product called red kote fuel tank liner. it's been out there for years , I started using it in all the tanks I build. It will seal all welds and prevent any rust problems due to condensation . I just found that I never had any comebacks for leaks and it does extend the life of the tank. It's easy to apply ,you just poor it in flip the tank over and over to coat the hole inside and let it dry .

      i have used that product in my tank builds also, worth the effort in my opinion.

      Do you know if it can be used in a steel water tank, it’s not drinking water! Thanks for your input!?,

      @@clydesolomon8533 yes , you can use it in a water tank. You need to know the size (gallons) to know how much to use. You also need to be able to flip the tank over and over to coat all sides. It tells you on the instructions how much 1 gallon will cover. It's cost is high but worth it in the long run.

      @@anthonycash4609 if it will help make a water tank last longer the cost is a small price to pay for it!! I use 100 gal water tanks on my trucks for wash downs and I start getting rust holes I have to patch in 4 or 5 years and that is costly and just a pain!!
      Thanks for the information

      @@clydesolomon8533 just look up red kote fuel tank liner. I've found that some of the parts houses carries it but chooses to not put it out in the display room they keep it in the back. And it is spelled Red Kote hope it works out for you as well as its worked for me.

    You don't need a diesal engine, that Ford engine is more than sufficient enough for what your gonna be feeding it, your saving the logs for fire wood, oak that is, the 15 inch size I believe you said your getting, that will eat a decent size tree believe it or not. Look forward to watching you grow your tree service, thanks for sharing Tim 💪🌲🇺🇲

    You have been planning for the last 5 years, only done small investments a little at a time. When you bought the mini, that gave away what you were planning. The stuff you have been buying costs a lot of money, but you have done it the right way, paying as you go.

    Will having the bulk duel tank plumbed to fill the truck tank exempt you from needing hazmat endorsement to carry a fuel tank over 119 gallons?

    I would be curious to see a comparison of the cost of ownership, gas vs. diesel. I don’t know how people run up and down the road with diesel trucks, especially when they don’t need one. A costly trip to the shop with a gas engine is usually the same as a cheap trip with a diesel. Never freaking mind the $22,000 cost difference up front, that’s several new gas engines.

    We bought a morbark 1821. With the gas. The sales man said we can replace the gas motor 3 times and still be cheaper than a diesel. Love our old morbark and am excited for the new one.

    Rotobec or Ami could probably build a mini-excavator wood splitter like a austrian west tech w series that takes 24 inch bites out of logs. Certainly might drop the wood chipper size requirement.

    For all us non-Americans - what is red fuel?

    • @cotontop3
      @cotontop3  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Red fuel is dyed red and you don’t pay road use taxes on it, so it’s cheaper per gallon to be used in machines and off road equipment n

    • @michaelbaumgardner9493
      @michaelbaumgardner9493 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good evening Mr Frank. It's Offroad Diesel. Red dye is injected at load rack where fuel is loaded into a tanker.
      It's also taxed different from regular on road diesel.
      I'm a truck driver, if caught with offroad diesel in the tanks the company and I face big fines.
      The state (s)want their fuel tax revenue and properly fueled vehicles net that revenue.
      It goes deeper but don't want to build a clock just to let you know what time it is.
      Be safe.

    The price of DEF is nothing compared to the down time you would have when the Diesel engine derates because the whole emission system fails on a regular basis and it will. Good choice on the gas motor Tim.

    Diesel vs Gasoline isn't making much sense, We just ordered our 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Turbo Diesel and the Duramax diesel engine option was cheaper than the gasoline engine options.

      Last time I looked it was close to 15k for the Duramax option on the 3/4 and 1 ton GM trucks.

    Tim you are 💯 correct on the gas engines. That is why we bought our last 2 with gas engines. And if it blows up we can get a new crate motor for about 4 grand to replace it. We’re having one of our 300hp JDs rebuilt now and it’s north of 10 grand. The gas engines in our 15XPC and 19XPC are fantastic!! Congratulations and can’t wait to see it. Have a great weekend!!🇺🇸

    Some lead times today, remind me of when I was a young teenager. If wanted to order something. You cut the order form out of a catalog send a check and expected delivery was 6 to 8 weeks. How did we ever survive????

    In case you don’t know, galvanized and copper pipe / fittings are not compatible with diesel fuel, so don’t use either on your tank.

  • @andrewcrosby8746
    @andrewcrosby8746 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The price difference between the gas and diesel is ridiculous. Personally wouldn't have a gas motor in my chipper, have run both and the gas does not have the butt to it to keep from bogging down. Our favorite was the wood chuck wc19. That thing with 110 hp john deere diesel would swallow logs whole, spit the chips out and ask for more. But I get it, 22 thousand more! That chipper would have to be running around the clock to justify that. Hope you don't have problems with the auto feed sensors if your getting a brush bandit.

    Tim are you eventually going to go into logging on your own somewhere down the line? I've been wondering about that here for a while and I've been helping a friend of mine in my spare time with his small construction outfit learning some more about the smaller equipment and running it and he just bought another new Kubota mini excavator and he has work lined up all the time but I'm really wanting to get a skid steer and a single axle dump truck and work on the weekends and some evenings during the week and see where it goes from that point but I do enjoy running equipment of any sizes and I run equipment ever since I was a young kid pretty much all of my life and grew up in the trucking company business that my parents owned for many many years and that was a business I was never fond of because in my opinion there's just not enough money in running trucks like there should be and what it costs to run a trucking business it's absolutely crazy and a person with a 1-ton truck can make as much or more money than a man with a tractor trailer at the end of the day
