I took your red vase and bought the Lansky sharpening system. It works exactly as expected on my Pfiel chisels, which are nice and long. I had a little more difficulty using my record power chisels. They are a bit shorter, so I found that I was scratching up the mount when I tried to get at the chisel with the stone. I figured out a workaround though. If I loosen the screw that holds the stone unit to the rod, I was able to tip the stone to the side, and use a sideways motion, avoiding scratching up the mount. It works just as well. Thank you for the solution to a problem that was driving me nuts!
Hi Angel, I knew the band aids would get a comment. Damage to my hands seems to be a reoccurring theme. They heald faster than the boo- boo I had in this video: th-cam.com/video/IxWQ03ayCSY/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching and commenting. -Andrew

Nice! This could be used to sharpen chisels and other thick tools!

Advice, not “red vase” 😀
Hi Brian,
Thanks. So glad it worked for you too.

I had not thought of using the Lansky sharpening system! I could do the same method with my chisels and planer blades! Thanks!
Hi Michael,
It works great. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Love the BandAid
What a great idea
Lansky makes good kit. I have a couple of their products, including a Puck for out in the field. Great video, as always!

Hi Jared,
Thanks. This one make a tough task easy.

I’ll give it a try, but I put my lansky on the shelf years ago. Even hundreds of strokes did nothing.
Mark Hansen Sounds like you need to lap your stones.
Nice tip.
