    Great list, as always. I completely agree with your remark that Image didn't reach its full potential until 16 years after its foundation. My two cents: I would add Royal City, The Autumnlands, Seven To Eternity, Strange Embrace and The Magic Order

    Another great list with some great choices and cool tidbits about the history of what was going on. Can definitely tell last ten years has been crazy good output from image

      Absolutely. Image is today what Vertigo was in the 1990s and early 2000s. Amazing things happen when creators are not tied down by continuity.

    Favorite Image:
    1. Spawn (one of my favorite characters besides Marvel & DC)
    2. Gunslinger Spawn (Fantastic character & Story Todd McFarlane at his best)
    3. King Spawn (Nice Evolution of the Spawn character & universe)
    4. Invincible (Great Update on Silver Age tropes with a modern take)
    5. The Walking Dead (Zombies and more plus it looks like a homage to George A Rameno's Night of the Living Dead with it being in black & white)

    Where would Spawn be in your personal countdown, and perhaps, Witchblade? Even if you had to make a top 100 or a bigger number.

    • @comicbelief
      @comicbelief  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to say. Those first few Image series are very much bottom-of-the-barrel for me. But Witchblade would rank higher than Spawn. But that’s if we are talking about the original Spawn run still drawn by McFarlane, which is beautifully drawn but pretty flimsy in story. To me, the best Spawn-related comics are the Sam & Twitch series, and the Hellspawn series - both by Brian Michael Bendis. I hear good things about some new series, like Gunslinger Spawn, but haven’t gotten around to reading them.

    Cool supersized fairyland wasn’t on here along with nailbiter spawn and savage dragon had a lot of spin-offs even haunt is apart of spawn and darkness is one of the spin offs of witchblade.
    Can you do a top 100 characters both heroes and villains from image?

    Wow no Criminal by Brubaker?
    Also would love a top 100 Dark horse runs

      The thing is Criminal was originally published by Marvel Epic. It was in its 5th volume by the time it got to Image. I figured there should be another video for it.

    Not a single Brubaker in the top 10, I can see you don’t like him, damn.

    • @comicbelief
      @comicbelief  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, I like him a lot. I came close to including the Fade Out as a top ten, but I just couldn’t replace any of the others.

    • @tanavast7337

      @@comicbelief Also 2 huge omissions that i’m surprised weren’t on here. Head Lopper, which deserves top 25 status imo. It was self pubbed first then went to Image in 2015. And Seven To Eternity by Rick Remender
      Also some others:
      - Donny Cates’ God Country
      - Isola (hiatus sadly)
      - Excellence
      - Kill 6 Billion Demons
      - Middlewest by Skottie Young
      I would put all of these over several in this list, but of course it’s all tastes. I do think a fair amount here are mediocre, but I have yet to read even 75% of these.
      Nocterra is shaping up to be pretty good as well. I’m sure there’ll be lots of others.

    • @comicbelief
      @comicbelief  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tanavast7337 You just guessed the reason why these are not mentioned. I haven’t read them yet. I have just discovered Excellence, Isola and God Country have been on my list for a while. Now the others are as well. I assume you’ve been reading Brubaker’s Reckless.

    • @tanavast7337
      @tanavast7337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@comicbelief I’ve not started Reckless yet but definitely on the list to get this year. I’ve heard pretty good things, shocker from Brubaker, right? His Sleeper Omnibus (from DC) is actually getting a reprint near the end of the year too, so I can finally read it.
      And thanks for the list, I didn’t know about some of these so may have to put on my list. I’m definitely lacking a lot of these.
      And well, I do hope you enjoy Head Lopper and Seven To Eternity (which is getting a Deluxe in August!). Plus the others as well. Isola has gorgeous art and is a well realized fantasy world. I hope it comes back. Head Lopper is like Conan meets Adventure Time with a more minimalistic mignola style (not as dark tones though).
