This is a channel about comic book appreciation. Comics as a medium have always struggled with some lousy reputation and stigmas that, though diminished over time, have never really disappeared. Yes, comics are superheroes and we will discuss them in length, but a medium is not a single genre. We will also explore other aspects of comics, from its early history to European traditions, the underground movement, the coming of graphic novels, and the many different genres that make up the industry today.
In this channel, I hope to provide a bigger picture and the best starting points for new readers, while attempting to expand the horizons of seasoned readers, not only in regards to new characters and series they might want to explore but also in providing a new way to look at classic, well-known stories. Comics are an amazing, often unappreciated art form, and I hope to show viewers why they have been a part of my life for decades now.

100 Comic Book Recommendations for Movie Buffs
Your videos are so useful for the reading order
All list of this type are just subjective. With no comic strip writers included (and I certainly believe McCay, Herriman, Segar, Capp, Foster, and Schulz are in an objective Top 100 list). For comic book writers Otto Binder, Bill Finger, Vaughn Bode, Mike Baron, John Broome, Cary Bates, Archie Goodwin, Nicola Cuti, Jim Stenstrum, Eddie Campbell, Barry Windsor-Smith, Jean Giraud, and Elliot S! Maggin would replace some of the names (I won’t mention names but I have read over half the writers mentioned) you have on my own list. Of course I haven’t read all the writers you list so purely subjective on my part. Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez also deserve two separate entries as they each write their own stories (they would both be in my Top Ten also, Love And Rockets is one of the ten best comics ever in my opinion). Anyway, your Top 100 is a good starting point for discussion. Video was well done also.
I find it shameful that there is barely any golden age stories on here, that's disrespectful to Bill Finger, and actually none from the silver age. The Silver Age wasn't all camp despite what most people think. Read some issues before and after Julius Schwartz became the editor of the book, and you'll see a night and day difference.

Just found your channel trying to find Green Lantern reading order. Very helpful and complete. Immediate subscribe. I have to think most comic fans don't know of this channel, but I will definitely constantly recommend. Great work! Hits a needed niche that other comic channels, like Near Mint Condition, which I also love, are not able to do. For the record, I am mainly a DC fan if you are trying to know your audience. I haven't had a chance to look at all the videos but I would like to see Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Green Arrow, Warlord and maybe war comics like GI Combat and Our World At War. Also maybe pulp heroes in comics like Green Hornet and Lone Ranger. Again, excellent work!
I had bought the entire run of Superman Volume 2 from 1 to 225 , if I'm understanding correctly stories between Superman, Action Comics and Adventures of Superman intersect. Would you recommend reading volume 2 on its own or should one read it alongside the other intersecting superman runs ?
@@fleezelight I think you would find it difficult to read it on its own. Especially as big crossover events become the rule in the 1990s. It would be like only reading certain chapters of a larger story

Arguably the greatest marvel superhero team
Is there a point where one continuity ends? Or the Peter from ASM VOL 1 is the same one as VOL 3,4,etc? when facing such large stories, i would also know if there is apart from a good starting point (although Spidey is a character where reading from its first all time issue is a great starting point and doesnt feel outdated at all) also a stopping point, like is there a version of the character which has an ending? Im on like issue 130 of ASM Vol 1 btw
@@Shuvaki The short answer is yes, within the main continuity, the Peter Parker from Amazing Famtasy 15 is the same as today. But the character does evolve in time, and the modern character has traits that the original lacks. Given time, it’s possible to distinguish specific phases that do end, like the Black Costume Spider-Man going from Secret Wars to ASM 300. Every author brings his own take to the character, and some runs, particularly modern ones, do give its multiple story arcs a sense of ever higher stakes and a kind of conclusion. Not an ending, necessarily, since there’s going to be a next issue by a new writer, but a wrapping up. Straczynski does it, infamously. So does Slott, in better fashion. Within Slott’s run, Superior Spider-Man has a proper start and finish. There are also out-of-continuity runs that present a different take on the character. The best one is Ultimate Spider-Man, which ran for some 150 issues before giving Peter an ending and introducing Miles Morales. Now, this being Marvel, nothing ever truly ends, and Ultimate Peter does return, but yes, you can read it as having a beginning, middle and end. In fact, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

excellent episode. you didn't show 275 full - its a 3page cover. my #1 is 281 by Whilce Portacio. It was my first comic whe i returne to read them as a kid.
Overall nice list. However, I think New X-Men 116 is one of the worst X-covers and few others here wouldn't be in my favorites. But tastes differ. Always loving such vids of yours.

I’ve just started getting into x men comics (started with Morrison’s New X Men). A bookstore has The All New Exiles #1-11 and #♾️ for like $10. Is this something worth getting?

The channel was recently demonetized by TH-cam due to “repetitive content”, and while I still have a small hope of reversing the decision, I have been treating the channel as being on its final stretch. I do have content yet to be uploaded in the next few months, but that might be the end of it. So it’s good to hear that I’ve been helpful.
