Very good advice I think. We have loads of Kites. I back on to fields in a very small town and there are normally 4 or 5 visible and 2 or 3 buzzards. I can see 3 now? We get badgers and foxes a well. There are some big kites, massive, and the smaller ones do look scruffy and thinner? The fields are shot, and there are a lot of pheasants. I tend to feed the Kites in the winter? Not much though, I made a platform and the top of the patio heater. They are very wary of me, they tend to sneak in when I don't have a camera. I also feed the song birds, mainly in the winter when food is scarce. Frankly, the Kites keep the Sparrow Hawks away, a critter which I don't like. I know every things has gota live etc. There was a Peregrine in my tree a few months ago, wow, fastest creature on earth! Apparently it's nesting in a town a few miles north of me, Northants / Leicestershire border? The buzzards hit big hares in the field so hard I m sure they are dead in seconds. Rats, you are so right, I have I think now managed to persuade my neighbours to stop using poison and clear their act up, stop them moving in. It gets into the food chain and the rats get resistant really quickly anyway. We have out breaks now and again especially when it's wet, and they get attracted to my song bird table which is bad news for them. Night sight, .22 I clear them, late night fun. I put them on the platform and the Kites take em. There is no lead in the carcass, it goes straight through. I'm very conscious of feeding the Kites, they shouldn't learn to trust people, they need to be wary of us, bad all around if they do.
I encourage you to pass on your knowledge so we can all help these beautiful big birds in the correct way.

Kites & foxes come into my farmhouse garden and clear up the mice, rats & rabbits killed by the cats. Handy.

Hi nice video and very informative. I'm a wildlife photographer and wondering is it acceptable to put dead mice on a pole and sit and hope a bird of prey comes and takes it and also should the frozen mouse be thawed first?

Hi yes lots of photographers put out food, you may need to do it for a few nights in a row but try not to make a habit of it other wise they may not look for their own food. And don’t do it around houses, this is the issue we have in the local area with people feeding red kites in their own gardens. Yes always thaw out the mice and don’t re freeze to use again, think that they would get as ill as you would from the bacteria. You can buy mice from us if your local. X

ABHISHEK personally if you have taken it from the wild and you don’t know what to feed it then you should release it back to the wild. Kites are not great hunters so won’t be any good if you wanted to hunt with it.

ABHISHEK I would suggest vets for the injuries as birds are very complex. Then feeding is meat, whole carcass perhaps without fur or feather whilst he is recovering. But first and for most get to a vet.
