@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 yes sir great information just got to put the advice to the regional area in which we live . Watching a nice 8 point now still in velvet. Had a 10 point on camera a couple of times last year never seen him in person though. I got blowed on twice almost positive it was him hoping to see him again .
Ive been switching all my pass through plots over to clover. Two reasons. One - its a major deer / turkey attraction that lasts well into Oct/Nov here in central ny. Two- I find myself very busy in life lately and the clover is less time consuming than the buckwheat no-till process. I do still have a few ultimate no till plots, but overall the clover is really a good fit for me right now.
Yes im in the Carolinas also , NC 35 miles east of Charlotte, you may have a bigger following in the Carolinas than you realize even though we are not mentioned much for strategies for our area, Your plot tips and seed blends have increased my Buck and Doe population on my 7 acres in a heavy pressured rural area. Thanks again
On our farm in pa where we harvested a mid 160s buck 2 years ago the biggest buck so far this summer is a basket 8 and hoping our targets show back up because I know all 5 of them survived last season it’s just a waiting game I guess lol
Hi Jake! I've always loved clover for hunting plots...not at all for holding plots or the majority of plots. For example we have 2 acres planted in clover in 9 spots
Clover is definitely awesome for turkey, just planted our first clover plot a few months ago and turkeys already starting to show up a lot more, they used to never come now they come at least 1-3 times a week, no velvet bucks yet for some reason tho on the clover plot, yet all the fields nearby I scout and see so many nice bucks but not one at our place yet,
Last yr my clover did will late into the yr. We had a really mild winter down here in se ohio. Might have to try making my one plot a clover plot its .3 acres. Last yr i had rye and it did really good
I do love the content, but like many you're full circle on explanations. No summer doe factories and keep the bucks off your property, mixed with create a habit and have clover throughout the summer. I can't seem to regulate the amount of does that choose to eat my plots but I'm open to ideas! In all honesty I do enjoy the content regardless!
You have to keep in mind my clover plots equal 1.75 acres out of 18 acres of food plots for 255 acres of land, surrounded by hundreds of acres of alfalfa. They create zero for factories because there is an over abundance of food elsewhere. It helps I have a neighbor about a 1/2 mile away that has over 10 acres of bean food plots with a giant doe factory. Even in bucks we only have about 1/3rd of our shooters showing up about once every few days...right now, until hard horn and later. You have to match the conditions with the prescription but bottom line you can't create for factories... Bottom line... understand the concepts and you will understand how it all fits together.
Not being a wise ass but some does and fawns ok but not too many? At what point is it bad and that must vary by deer per square mile or what? I have a 3 acre plot and generally have around a dozen deer on it any given night. 60/40 doe/fawn to buck.
In northern climes, proper deer density is measured not by food plot use but by preferred woody browse remaining by late December. If you have hard browse lines everywhere, no thickets in the woods, woods even in the bottoms severely thinned in the winter, you have way too many deer.
@@thebadboo4875 I’m aware of that. I live in western Massachusetts and hunt maine and Vermont where there’s endless logging and browse. Really all they have. Maybe a few apple trees but nothing like other part of the country

Great tips again, Jeff! What's your opinion on oats? I heard they can be productive till late November.
