- Today we took the hot & sweaty local bus across Sri Lanka.
We headed from Jaffna over to Trincomalee and the journey took about 5/6 hours.
Gotta be honest the bus was good fun, we bought all kinds of stuff on our journey from gold chains to pineapple covered in chilli salt.
Upon arrival in Trincomalee we had a fantastic pure veg curry & rice then unfortunately met a scammy tuk tuk driver who we weren't having any of.
Finally we checked into our lovely seaview hotel and spent the afternoon chilling out.
This is always the best way to travel a country for us and I've gotta say we do like the Sri Lankan buses 🇱🇰

I wouldn't recommend the bus journey because the most drivers are dangerous driving.

Only place in South Asia I'd heavily recommend visiting. Pure chill and the nature is top.

I'll be honest it's tough aha we're just carrying local viewers wherever like most channels and its not ideal! Hopefully sometime can shift that to westerners and then it won't be a roller-coaster! Your stuff was entertaining tho, no woke shite

Your vlogs are far different from other videos. U guys are so local. U know what !! Being so local is the best way to get to know the place we are in. Like, eating a pol sambol in a five star hotel may feels good and tasty but it is no match for eating it in a local villagers whice homemade. Same thing but a huge difference.

We like the buses!! They are great you can get literally anywhere so easily, every road has local buses plying up and down!
There is a vast network of bus routes. Where the private enterprises do not run, the state run buses run as there is no profit in the rural routes.

Yes the road trips are risky, but be it public or private bus/car it's still the same roads. Your way is interesting and passes the time.
Trincomalee is special and your hotel looks lovely, a nice place to chill. I'm sure the hotels with pools would let you swim for the price of a drink if the sea is too rough. Eat and sleep well with the sound of the waves.

That is true! I don't think the roads are that bad here compared to anywhere else, there's like no traffic!! It's so nice here we love it we check out a beach in the next videos absolutely lovely

Where do you recommend we like to hear? We usually just pick places on the map that look interesting, then search on YT and internet and if there are like hardly any or no videos or blogs we visit and see what its like!
This way we also get to meet nice people, eat tasty local food and not get deceived much!

Trincomalee is famous for its deep, sapphire-blue harbour and its powdery beaches . The harbour was used as a trading port throughout the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa periods and was later the focus of battles during the colonial period when succeeding European nations vied for control of the island. The Sri Lanka Transport Board, the state-run, primary bus operator in Sri Lanka, goes back to 1 January 1958. The state-owned enterprise was at the time known as the Ceylon Transport Board. At its peak, it was the largest omnibus company in the world - with about 7,000 buses and over 50,000 employees. With privatization in 1979, it underwent a period of decline. First broken up into several regional boards, then into several companies, it was finally reconstituted as the Sri Lanka Transport Board in 2005.
The bus drivers are some of the craziest in the world so it seems you were lucky .I think the guy selling the gold chain with the cross was telling everyone that if they were wearing these crosses if the bus crashed, they wouldn't die ...haha, which is why he sold so many .. 😂😂

@EllisWR yes it's expensive, but what you get to do and see is actually worth the money .a one day trip is completely full of activities. If you had gone 5 years ago, it was only about 10 pounds .

@@stefanmarks1381 For locals it's a fraction of the price though and we don't support those practices! We'll take the miss we have snorkeling gear and usually head out on our own, do love the underwater world I'm a big diver when back home in UK.

We gave him a chance, agreed on 500 for the 3km which was already 100 more than usual fare.

Rs500 is nothing guys. Diesel 1ltr cost Rs380 and one petrol ltr cost Rs400 . So if I was a that tuk tuk driver I won't take you 3km journey for Rs500 . Enjoy
The official price is 400 for this journey. That is the price everybody in Sri Lanka pays. We paid 500, so 100 more...
