  • chatting with Annie today about our experience dinning out and food service here in Davao city and a point was made that online chats from hospitality works feel there treated like slaves ..it's a shock to me but as I've worked hospitality since the 70,s it's something I've can relate too .but when I look at service here in Philippines there is a massive difference across food and service to customers....#life #food #davaocity #philippines #beach

    Lived in Davao for 7 years,the food quality was one of the many reasons why I left that place..Davao is on NOBODY'S radar for restauraunts.....I had it happen were they brought the appetizer after the main course....

    Phil food and service is a reflection of the country and people as a whole. Most of these restaurant workers get extensive training for months. Employees in mall restaurants have university degrees in hospitality. Yet the food and service is the worst in SE Asia and I would venture to say nearly the worst in the world.

      So many countries use the Philippines as a source of hospitality service staff esp cruises from USA and UK...what I find here is the slow speed or lack off attention from staff ..food arrives and it's not what's been ordered meals arrive after dessert or coffee arrives first or meals don't arrive at all ....the service staff will then ask you to pay when you have nor eaten ...I agree that it could be the worse in SE Asia ..I have eaten worse places in the world but there remote ..keep safe thank you comment

    I think a lot of the large scale projects in the condo market in Philippines got way ahead of itself, probably fueled on the back of the successes in the China market from about 1995. Often such projects are years in the planning stage before financing and approval from the authorities have been secured. So you have a lag affect of many years from concept to consignment. You pointed it out, stagnant I think was the word you used on those blocks beside the Park Inn. Four years on and they´re still incomplete. Hardly a good sign! It shows the developers haven´t been able to attract buyers as they had at one time anticipated. At some point the prices for these units will need to be marked down.

      Hi Brian yes I think there is a lot of planning or working out the financial but when the development starts it all goes well for while then funds dry up or companies focus eksewhere

      @@garrykneale Yes Garry, I don´t know anything about how these kind of businesses work here.
      If it´s like Europe one possibility would be that the initial investor [who maybe in a stressed situation] has now sold the whole development [as an under performing asset] to another investor, often to a vulture fund, who sweep in, acquiring the asset at a discount, who then turn around, inject fresh liquidity/funding to complete the development. In this sense, projects that have been lying dormant for some time get a renewed boost.

    Block that A hole that insulted Annie. How rude was he?
    I've found as you have that the levels of service in the restaurants around Davao varies greatly. I once waited an hour for my meal. We were there as a family of 5. We had 2 drinks each. When the food still hadn't arrived after an hour and 10 mins. We paid for the drinks and left! That to me was an unacceptable length of time to wait for a meal. Other tables had ordered and started their meal after arriving later than us!!

    • @garrykneale
      @garrykneale  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Davao cave agree that service is variable...but what I have seen is there is a lack of understanding regards what is acceptable. There is a belief that people go out to eat and that eateries service good gmfoid and good service .or the customers walk away. Result no business and that's why lots place open then close due to poor service

    I think you have to ask how long it takes your order arrive, complain then when it didnt arrive on time

    Also, if you want to feel like a slave, come to the USA. I was 25 years out of this piece of shit country, living the good life in mainly SE Asia. Then my daughter, one of Indonesia's best and brightest, got cheated out of her scholarship from an 11th hour change in the rules. So, I said okay, let's go to the USA get you a bachelors and then we come back here. As soon as I returned to the USA I was forced into monetary slavery. You MUST get this insurance and that insurance and subscribe to this and that. I HATE living here. Can't wait to leave.
