  • Hi all, I'm a PMDG tech team member and real life 737 pilot.
    In this video we're going over the takeoff briefing and considerations you should give to it. There will be two versions of this video, a short one (see here: • The Takeoff Briefing (... ) and a complete one (this video)
    In this video we'll go over the full takeoff briefing as its being done in my airline every day.
    If you like my videos please consider a small donation as it's taking a lot of time and effort to create these.

    These tutorials are not designed as absolute beginner tutorials. It is expected that the viewer already has basic experience with airliners and knows the basics how to operate an aircraft.
    I'll be closing this introduction by saying that I'm not a professional TH-camr or Streamer quite yet and these videos are my very first that actually get more than a hundret clicks. I have never before created such content so bear with me for doing beginner mistakes.
    I record straight from the sim without any fancy stuff going on in the background.

      You're most welcome! I want you guys to be able to fly the airplane with the same operating techniques that we use. It's just so much more fun when you're actually handling the equipment you're being given correctly.
      I'm hoping that one day I'll tune into a random flight sim stream and he'll be using correct SOP on the aircraft. Unlike so many of nowadays streams.

    I really like the style of your videos! Straight to the point and very informative.
    I've got a question though: Why would you pull the CVR CB in case of an evacuation?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In an evacuation the power is left ON in the airplane so that the emergency lights continue to work. However this means that the CVR would also continue recording.
      Since the recordings of the event that led to the evacuation have to be preserved for the investigation the captain has to pull the CVR Circuit Breaker.
      Of course that's only "if time permits", saving your own life has priority over any recording.

    So from what I understand the acronym is TRIVETS. Where T is threats, R is route, I is instruments, V is ?, E is emergency procedures, T is taxi and S is SID brief

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a B instead of V and it stands for briefing.
      It's basically:
      Which type are we in (-700? -800? -MAX?)
      Which NADP will we fly
      Engine Out SID
      Special Requirements (Anti Ice? No Engine Bleed Takeoff? etc)

    Hi Emanuel. Könntest du das Takeoff Briefing vom Captain und FO mittels eines Audio Files zur Verfügung stellen. Ich habe dein Tutorial bestimmt schon 100 mal angeschaut und wollte es niederschreiben, aber es geht einfach zu schnell, ich komm da nicht ganz mit. Das du die Procedures wegem dem Copyright nicht online stellen kannst, versteh ich natürlich. Aber einfach ein Audio File wo du langsamer sprichst wäre echt cool. Allenfalls mit audacity aufnehmen und hier irgendwo posten? Tolle Videos, mach weiter so. Vielen Dank.

      Hi Simpafi,
      TH-cam hat eine Funktion um das Video langsamer abzuspielen, wenn Du auf das Zahnrad drückst. Hast Du die mal probiert?

  • @bonbondesel

    Very interresting ! This briefing's form looks a lot like several French companies departure briefings. I know that not all Companies put it in the same form into their SOPs.
    2 techical questions about the add-on:
    - will it support shared cockpit or shared cockpit add-on ?
    - Is force feedback available for the old force feedback joysticks like it was in the past with P3D ?
    Thanks a lot for this very informative and usefull video ! That's the kind of realism PMDG products permit with high fidelity reproduction of the airplane's systems.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It won't support shared cockpit out of the box. Not sure what can be done by third party addons later, but we have seen it happen for the DC-6 and I'm very sure they will at least try for the 737.
      I can not comment on force feedback as I don't have hardware that supports it. I recommend you to ask in the PMDG forums.

    All nice and perfect, and I know thats a Beta...but I hope they improve in graphics before release. Zibo´s cockpit looks sharper and more realistic. Also it looks very clean for me, would appreciate a more used cockpit. Maybe it´s also the quality of the stream who knows.... Thanks for your briefing info, very professional like always ;)

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did already notice that something in my post processing is deteriorating the quality of my stream. I am yet to find out what it is though. The actual aircraft is 100% crisp.

    nice Video again, but did you really speak soo fast in the real Cockpit like in around min 14 ?

      For the emergency briefing, yeah, we do that from time to time. It's always 100% the same words so... the important thing is that you think about it and recall those procedures as they are not used very often.

    Can you explain NADP 1 and NADP 2?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      See here for basic explanation: skybrary.aero/articles/noise-abatement
      As for how to fly them:
      NADP1: Maintain V2+15 to V2+25 until 3000ft AAL, then speed up and retract flaps
      NADP2: Maintain V2+15 to V2+25 until 1000ft AAL, then speeed up and retract flaps. Maintain the UP speed until 3000ft AAL
      Note that some countries and operators are using 1500ft AAL for NADP2 rather than 1000ft. In my company we then call it a hybrid NADP2 with a non standard bug up at 1500ft.

  • @Ronald9540
    @Ronald9540 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting, what is the idea behind setting the flaps to 40 after stopping after an aborted take-off? Is it in case people need to walk over the wings? I would have expected it’s best not to touch anything when you don’t need it.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the 737 the Flaps act as a slide for the passengers in case of an evacuation. Since the wing is rather low other the ground (compared ie with an A320 or widebody jet) the passengers can simply slide down the flaps.
