This is one of my all-time favorite pottery/clay videos. I watch it when I need to get the creative juices flowing. Concise, informative, without a bunch of unnecessary words. Done by consummate potters...no buying pint jars of glazes and "flashing-up" a bunch of inferior pots here folks! It is beyond me how it only has the views it has....sad that more don't understand and appreciate true pottery making skills and all it takes to formulate and mix your own glazes, design and make your own molds or acquire the skill to throw beautiful pieces. Thanks folks!❤

Whoa, that is nice! I'm about to take Beginning Ceramics with the throwing wheel this coming college semester, and I thought I'd get a glimpse of what it'll be like. I've heard that I can make things on my own time and that a lot of students do, so I thought I'd see if it would be more difficult doing hand built things.

@TheWinecountrygirl No. We don't give away our recipes. As a few clues, it's cone 10, gas fired reduction, and with 4% cobalt oxide. Without such a large amount of cobalt you won't get the richness. Regards Ric

@WallowingInTheMud I made the foot form from masonite. The trick is to have holes in it to prevent an air-lock and to add a handle for pulling it off.

I have been wanting brushes like yours ever since watching this video a few years ago. I am assuming you make your own. Can you share what “Hair “you use for the actual brush? Beautiful work! And I love it that you take it from the raw clay material to the actual glaze finished piece! Excellent!

(Sorry, no Spanish) The background glaze (first) must be solid with enough clay to hold it tight. Yes the top glazes do crack but that is the decoration.

Al poner los colores no se craquelan cuando se secan porque el plato esta bizcochado ya? Porque a mi me paso al ponerle mucha cantidad, como haces para que no te pase eso?

Inspirational! Thank you for posting. The long brushes - store bought or home made? What material are the long fibers? Are they 3 " long? I will try to make one if I still can't find them on line. Thanks, am using your video as a lesson and have made a mold. Will drape today! Will send pics when finished the platter. Again thanks.

The brushes are home-made from children's pony-tails. Human hair works especially well with glazes being able to hold large quantities. The hair is tapered giving you the ability to draw fine to fat lines with ease.
