    Hey - is there anyone on here who was watching the show when Dorian and Victor were married? I'm still curious about they dynamics of their marriage. I read somewhere that they had a lot of arguments and she told him - just before his last stroke - that he disgusted her. Not long ago, I noticed the dates on his headstone and Victor was only about 49 or 50 when he died in 1976. But people talk about him like he was an "old man"; which to me sounds like 70 or 80. I wish those scenes were still around because I read she was a Master Manipulator back then.

    Pat wow. The first character I remember from OLTL. I was a little kid of maybe 6 or 7 maybe 8 and watching this show with my Mom when Pat was shot and locked in the basement by her crazy twin sister. That storyline got me hooked on OLTL and I stayed hooked for the next thirty years.

    I agree...I love how years ago soap character dialogue and scenes in general were much longer....it allowed the audience to get more invested in the storylines and what made the characters tick

    All these old soaps should and will probably show up on some cable station once the soaps die out on the 3 big stations; can't wait! The viewing audience would be there.

    It would simply be indescribeable for all of our long running shows to be rebroadcast from about 1970 forward, where not only would they not look old fashioned, but it was this time that daytime really found its stride with all the shows -- writing, stories, characters, sets, costumes, themes, background music. I'm constantly amazed at how much BRILLIANT programming was availalbe then and I probably missed 95% of it or more.

    The ominous music before and after Dorian comes on screen is GREAT! Wouldn't it be interesting to see how Nancy would play the same role today?

      It happens more than we realize. Look at Vincent Irizzary & Marj Dusay. They played Mother & Son on Guiding Light Nick McHenry Spaulding & Alexandra Spaulding then Mother/Son on All My Children David Hayward & Vanessa Cortlandt. Then Amelia Marshall & Marcy Walker worked with each other on Guiding Light as Gilly Grant and Tangie Hill then as Belinda Keefer & Liza Colby.

      This was done on purpose to give AW some competition. However, having the same actors doesn’t mean dif characters will have the same chemistries. Dorian and Tony together would NEVER work like AW’s Steve and Rachel.

    I told UK Soap Fans about how US Soap Fans fall on hard times due to circumstance. They felt awful about Michael Zaslow (Ex David Rinaldi) and Roger Thorpe (Guiding Light). Do any of you watch UK Soaps. They are amazing. Alot of them made names for themselves on Soaps before doing shows lake Granchester, Gentleman Jack, Victoria & Downton Abbey.

    OK--youngins--let's talk about incredible crossovers. Pat's son Brian was killed by Karen Wolef (Judith Light) when she was with a john (Talbot Huddleston). So when we FINALLY got to the trial, 2 yrs later, ALL of this paid off SO freakin big! What incredible storytelling!!

      Tony was eventually killed off when Chip Lucia, the final actor to play the character, left. Jacquie Courtney left not long after in the fall of 1983.

    I would LOVE to see more of OLTL from the 70's....I always wanted to see some of Nancy Pinkerton's Dorian, particularly when she was involved in a torrid affair with Dr. Mark Toland, played by a young Tommy Lee Jones

      Robin Strasser said she was jealous of her because she got to make love in a closet with TLJ. Ironic because later Dorian would be claustrophobic. Perhaps that's why the writers had her and Herb have sex in the elevator when they got trapped in it after their divorce - LOL!

    She played Alice on AW--left in 1975 and wound up on OLTL not long after that. To my knowledge she is still alive.

    SADDER THAN SAD ,that those episodes of OLTL back then were all erased -for retaping game shows and nonsense like DARK SHADOWS.Back then, soap episodes had no protector on any of the major networks..

    • @markfaulkner5626
      @markfaulkner5626 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each series had its own tapes. If the series recycled tapes, it recycled them for itself, not other soap operas, game shows, or any other programming. The decision to save or recycle tapes came from the owner of the program. The first five years of One Life to Live were owned and produced by Agnes Nixon through her production company Creative Horizons. The likely reason that she didn’t save the tapes was the prohibitive cost of the videotape and at that time no real market for rebroadcast. “Nonsense like Dark Shadows” was saved because Dan Curtis, the owner and producer, spent the money to save it. By the way, ABC made kinescope copies of its soaps for time-shifting purposes, so at one time the first two years of OLTL was saved, but those kinescopes were destroyed in a warehouse fire.

    @ctronjock I hear what you are sayng completely, but after watching this type of writing now since January 2011 I have grown to love it. It makes the show seem like it's zipping along, and the best part is that when the show is on charcters that don't particularly interest you it doesn't matter, because with the short scenes, the show will move on to others in just a minute or less.

    Actually, Bluenail03, there were four different actors who played the role of Tony. George Reinholt, followed by an actor named Jimmy "Something" (LOL), who was quickly replaced by Phil McHale, who was followed by Chip Lucia. For the life of me, how Lucia was cast is a mystery. He was so wrong for the role.
