Hi Alan. I might have seen you riding this bike around the Chapel Hill area, unless there is another in Chapel Hill. I drive a school bus around the area but also have a Tiger Explorer 1200 2012 model. Im also ex: SA (Durbs)
Yes that is me. I still have my 2012 Explorer which my wife says I have to sell soon. I just recently bought the new Rally Explorer. It's quite a different bike to ride than this one.
@@ADV-Rider-DudeSmall world 😎. If you see a bus driver in a red n white bus saying howdy do, that is me. Quick question on new bike: Is the cross plane engine smooth enough...or does it feel rough, i.e. esp. at highway speeds? By the way, I commute from Plainland to Ipswich on mine...great bike. Mine is on 60k now and going well. I have had a succession of BM bikes, mostly RS and RT boxers, but like the smoothness of the triple, so bought the Triumph instead of a similar year GS (GS of 2013-2015), GS was still a bit rough around the edges for my liking.
@@lornescott-wilson6144 It's difficult to explain the ride. At least revs it feels and sounds like a twin but you can still hear the triple whistle in the background. The ride is not as smooth as the older bike but feels a lot more fun. I was concerned about the vibration but only because of what other people said. But if I hadn't heard about it I guess I would have just thought it was different. There is definately more power there as well. The suspension is incredible. I'd suggest going on a test ride. There was no demo when I got mine but they were expecting a GTPro soon at Oliver's. I'll look out for you on the road mate. Give me a toot and I'll pull over for a chat if I'm not on my way to work and needing g to dodge the traffic.
@@ADV-Rider-Dude Thanks for that. Sounds good. Just watched a good review by Big Rock Moto on the GT. In my mind the choice is only between the R1250GS and the 1200GT. A test ride on each would determine the result...probably in the first 5 minutes you would know...yes or no. Before buying my current 1200 Explorer, i test rode the 2015 R1200GS, a Supertenere, a Honda Crosstourer 1200 and the Tiger. I enjoyed the Tiger the most, it just felt the most comfortable and smoothest, so bought it (from Olivers)
@@lornescott-wilson6144 Yip. In 2012 I rode the GS twice and then the Explorer. There was no doubt in my mind that I liked the Explorer better back then. Right now the GS is also a little long in the tooth and I hear is due for an upgrade. I'm hearing it will be a 1300.
