    Hi Matthew! Your front garden is so pretty. It does look like it was mapped out. You do an amazing job of spacing everything and planting different plants that go so well together and compliment each other. You definitely have a good eye for this. If you want fuss free flowering bush, plant potentillas. They don't need a lot of water, they just need sun and sheering once a year in the fall or spring. I've had mine for 8 years and have not seen them be bothered by any insects. Such a wonderful plant.

    Two questions, first, will Creeping Jenny choke out plants? And second, have you ever been to the Cape Cod Hydrangea festival/garden tour?

    • @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden
      @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don’t think Creeping Jenny would choke out plants unless they were low, but I would avoid planting it anywhere that it could freely crawl. I’ve only planted it contained in the concrete bed between my sidewalk and foundation at my last home. It will spread quickly.
      I’ve not been to the hydrangea festival.

    Just some history on sunpatiens.
    They're called impatiens in NZ and have been one of the earliest flowering plants to become fashionable in the 1970s.
    They've made many more colours since the 70s....but the irredecence has always been the attraction and how hardy they are as indoor and outdoor plants.
    If you dead head your phlox and other flowering plants, they will bush out more and become stronger plants and may even give you a second flush.
    Looking really great and filling out well.
    Jo.😊(It's the roots that make a plant stronger and able to hold its stems better.)
    Well done especially on getting your drip irrigation in....I can see why you titled your vlog...here's where the fun begins!

    • @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden
      @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sunpatiens are a brand name for a hybrid impatien that performs much better in sun than normal impatiens would. The standard impatiens have never performed well for me due to disease.

    I have no clue how your sunpatiens look that good I've given my sunpatiens in the ground plenty of sun and water.. I'm in a zone 6b Northeast Ohio Garden and they just wilt in the sun and don't recover well at all. I don't fertilize as they do better supposedly without fertilizer.
    I've moved some in a shady condition and they perk right up. Weird...

    • @lovelight9164

      Maybe someone gave your plants the wrong tags and are actually inpatients or like where I live in Indiana the sun seems to be a lot more stronger and intense when it does come out. I hope they get their footing and do better for you, since a lot of them are greenhouse grown the sun may just be to much if you put them directly in the garden.

    • @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden
      @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    • @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden
      @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Stockslager’s, Brown’s, Natorp’s, Siebenthaler’s, Bern’s, and Grandma’s Garden is where I have shopped the most just based on my own needs. They each have their own speciality in my opinion, whether it be from the large variety of PW annuals Stockslager’s carries and their friendly and family feeling staff, to the large trees and shrubs for the value at Brown’s, the atmosphere at Bern’s and Grandma’s Gardens (go feed the goats), or the huge variety of options at Natorp’s. It really depends on how you like to shop and what you’re looking for. When I’m looking for something I typically know where I need to go since they all have their niche.

    • @anngarnett4390

      You are so lucky to have all of these nurseries by you. I live south of Denver and since a large nursery closed by me there's like one small nursery that's close. Otherwise several others are quite far away. The only other places to shop here are the big box stores that don't have much of a selection. You would think it would be the opposite since they basically have a captive audience.....so sad.
