Notre Dame will not be giving up their lucrative Tv deal any time soon. ND has such a fan base that even the years they really sucked they had enough fans watching the games to keep the broadcast companies happy.

Football is where the money is at for most athletic departments, with few exceptions like Duke Basketball. Football is responsible for supporting all the other sports generally-so athletic departments have no choice.

Also tcu was lucky Vernon adams got hurt and they didn’t have backup center who could camp a football in the fiesta bowl and let tcu come back

At least Texas (mostly the Eastern half) is culturally tied to the southeast. In the case of A&M, they are very close to Houston, which is culturally similar to the rest of the Gulf Coast. Like the LSU-A&M rivalry makes sense.

Between Oregon and Washington, there have been zero national championships in college football or basketball in the modern era (if you consider the AP champion to be the true champion of college football, as most people did in the pre-BCS days).

They are still big schools and make the conference way better to complete with the sec. And the playoffs is expanded to 12 teams so it helps team build better resumes.

I just don't understand why anyone would want Washington. They are the definition of mediocrity the past 25 years, they don't have a large college TV market, they don't travel well. At least with Arizona, you get a perennial top 10 basketball school. You don't get anything with Washington. Oregon, yeah, football power.
