- The 1991 Nissan Figaro may look like a car straight out of the 1950's but it is so much more. This car has so much personality for it's small size. Under the hood is a 1.0L turbocharged inline-4 producing 75HP and mated to a 3-speed automatic. With unique styling and great details throughout the whole interior. Is the 1991 Nissan Figaro big time fun in a small package.

I bought one of these a few months ago and have it in Michigan. Your review is great and spot on... I have owned a lot of old cars but nothing that generates the amount of positive attention as my Figaro.
When the top is closed there is more storage space in the upper trunk in back. There is also a back seat for more stuff. My two kids actually fit back there, albeit not for long trips.

Remember they only came in four colours..summer autumn spring and fall....nice touch. This car in vid doesn't have the "extras" like the front light eyelids or the chrome side edging panel or the wheel arch chrome trim., and the chrome mirror covers.Must haves for the collector
Very surprised at the exhaust sound of the figaro. Doesn't sound too shabby.
What an exquisite little machine. BTW, it was also Sarah Jane's iconic car on the Doctor Who tv series.

I really wish more companies would make retro inspired cars like this. I really like the Miata based sports car styled after classic Corvettes called Mitsuoka Rockstar but those things are pretty expensive ahhh

The Fiat 500 didn't come back out in the late 90's/early 2000's...not until 2007 overseas. My buddy and I got to see one of these at cars and coffee in Winnetka ILL😉

You mean the retrostyled 2007 modern one, the Cinquecento (500) name came back in the 90s but it was a small 3 door econobox which was replaced by the 600 that was a bit rounder

The drive train wouldn't be able to handle the torque of a real engine.

Starting to see the older imports being brought in. After 25 years they are exempt from EPA/safety regulations. That's why you will start seeing stuff from the early nineties now. Before that you could not legally bring them in. Right now the stuff coming in are pretty old in technology etc.. But in a few more years one might bring in a mint condition Toyota prado (like a land cruiser) with the intercooled diesel engine. wouldn't mind getting my hands on a nice diesel prado.

does the top portion of the trunk open, hinges?
Trunk is actually the lower portion.
The area above the trunk is where the top folds into if you put the top down. You could probably put stuff in there if you're leaving the top up.

Problem with this car is getting parts when needed. A mechanics nightmare.
Even if you buy one from a dealer, they probably do not carry the
replacement parts you may need. You may have to take a trip
back to Japan to get your part.
I have had no problem getting any part at all for my Fig.
