@@sophialovecraft7894 I mean, I own the rare pikachu 3DS, although it could be in better condition. Few scratches here and there, and the hinge somehow broke and the repair place gave us a faulty repair and it soon began to crack lol.
The fact that games for such a recent console can reach hundreds of dollars is terrifying for a budding collector.
Just wait. Most of these kinds of things have a boom bust. Most sports cards fell off a long time ago. And with emulation getting better and better people begin to lack needing the original hardware or games so that'll lead to drop offs in prices.
Also most of the highest price games on a system aren't the best. They're just "naturally" rare.

@@TheMysteryDriver Not true at all. sport cards are at their peak right now. Also the reason people collect games is to physically have them so emulation means nothing
@@hieinh if you mean like very specific, graded rookie cards, like in baseball, sure. But most cards are not appreciating as quickly in the past. There was a big bust in the 90s. Stores that sell them have closed, etc. People that collect them are down in number and unopened boxes of cards have fallen in value or not kept up with prices.

For anyone wondering, yo kai watch 3 is also still on the eshop. The yo kai watch games are truly phenomenal and shouldn't be ignored for being "pokemon clones"

I remember seeing Yo-Kai Watch 3 at my local GameStop when it came out. Now it's difficult to even find listings for the game online because most searches will net results for the first game as "Yo-Kai Watch 3DS" which is pretty frustrating.
Yo Kai Watch 3 is really underrated, I got a physical copy when it came out and it basically has the entirety of Yo Kai Watch 2’s map and a whole new huge map to explore (also the battles are pretty fun compared to Pokémon)
It isn't underrated imo(or at least not as much as the series itself lol). Ths is all just because of the game being either super hard to get in the US, or was an U.F.O in Europe

I picked up a complete copy in 2019 for $35 or so. In this list the only good games were Dragonquest and Radiant Historia though.

i preordered yokai watch 3 and i (as well as many others) had difficulties getting our preorders, that explains how ridiculous it is. i highly recommend both it and radiant historia, absolutely they’re high up on my favorite games of all time list! i cannot even begin to describe how much content YW3 has, it’s absolutely insane how much there is to do and it’s charming the whole way through

I had to buy Yokai watch 3 of eBay, still for 60 bucks or less, it was a steal then. though if I had known it came out in the first place I would have bought it day one for sure since I've been waiting for it to be localized for the states, MAN they did not advertise this game at all.
Radiant Historia was a different story, I pre ordered it the moment I knew it was coming to the 3ds, since I played the DS original I knew it I had to get it was a freaking awesome game! I knew if I didn't buy it them I was never gonna get it Physically since it was an Atlus game, and those games ALWAYS go up in price T-T

I wish Yo Kai Watch wasnt slept on as much. The first game is one of my favorite games of all time. I loved the anime when it first came out, and yo kai watch is just so good

That game at #5, i never thought it be that rare. I remember buying that game at launch at Walmart. The one I had was complete in box and it came with the game, art book, and a sticker sheet. That’s really surprising to me.
The launch version is worth even more the one you have. It's currently on pricecharts for $120.
Glad the PAL prices are still ok. I love Yo-kai Watch and picked my copy of 3 early as our game store chain had like 1 copy in each store. I figured it would be a bit difficult to get later on but I could not imagine how full-on hard it would become to get.
Dragon Quest games have gone absolutely crazy, especially IV and V.
I feel like something I learned in this video is that if you want to catch em all in the sense of game collecting, the best way to do so is to buy all of your games digitally.

I got Yokai Watch 3 in my collection! I never thought that one is the rare games I got.
It was basically out of print before it was even released. Literally all the stores (save 1, that ironically was set to close a week later) either didn't carry the game at all, or only got enough copies for a few preorders.
How jumped from $175 to $800 is really rare.
Lol my copy of DQVIII is still sealed. I have radiant historia perfect chronology too. First time I actually own anything that's featured in theses videos haha

I feel bad. I sold my copies of Dragon Quest VIII and Yo-kai Watch 3 LONG before Covid-19 hit. I managed to 100% the games. Ugh... If only I had saved them!

More people need to play this franchise, it has more chram and soul that pokemon had in 10 years. Hopefully YKW 1 remastered and YWK 4 come to the american switch pronto.

Crazy to know I own two of the games on this list. Love me some Dragon Quest 8 and Yo-kai Watch 3.
The Dragon Quest series as a whole has exploded in value since Dragon Quest XI S sold so well in the west, mixed with Hero being in smash. Even cheaper games in the series like Dragon Quest IV, which as consistently $20 for years, has exploded in price. DQV is hundreds of dollars after being around $60. Wild to see my favorite franchise explode in popularity.

What do you do in your spare time? Like do you ever look at your(awesome)collection and say: Wow, that's a load of money in those items.
Usually people like him will buy up a bunch of these titles before the video. Boosting their value and then reselling them. Even if Drew doesn't resell them he has said he waits until he gets them all before making the videos, he knows that at least some portion of his audience will go out looking for these and become competition for him to get the same items if he doesn't have them or wants them.
While I do like to own the items I cover in most videos, the "Top 5 Rarest" series is a big exception. I don't own any of the titles listed because I'm not made of money 😂

Atlus had a 3ds sale of all their games a while back, including Radiant Historia. Hopefully u got them then when it was cheap

Barbie and alien chaos are very rare. Yokai watch 3 is rare. The other two are just expensive. There are Many other games you’ll have a much harder time finding. Expensive doesn’t equal rare folks!

I was definitely expecting to see Rhythm Thief on this list, kinda surprised it wasn't. It must be somewhere just below 5th place unless its value has dropped significantly over time.
I only have the DS lite unfortunately, will one day get luck enough to find a 3DS
So glad I picked up at that physical YW3 copy one of the best 3ds games hands down.

Yes finally i have something rare and also physical (yo kai watch 3) i was expecting to see the game in this list and it is a amazing game and i am sad that it did not sell well and it may lead ti yo kai watch 4 not coming to usa but if it comes it will become also very rare and hard to find and as a fun fact you can find the first yo kai watch game in a 5 below for five dollars in physical format

I bought a new and sealed copy of YKW Basters last year as christmas gift, since I got my 3DS only last year it was the first (and currently only) game I bought brand new
Edit: it's july 23, 2021. I MANAGED TO GET A COPY OF YKW3 2 DAYS AGO FOR 150BRL (less than 40 dollars!)

As soon as you mentioned DQ VIII I almost died inside remembering that I bought a brand new sealed copy a few years ago, and ended up selling it to make ends meet while it was still selling on the used market for less than I bought it new

I remember preordering a physical copy of Yo-Kai Watch 3 around when it was first announced. I have put so many hours into that game. It’s one of my favorite video games of all time along with the Yo-Kai Watch Blasters spinoff.
Nice!! I got radiant historia perfect chronology from GameStop when it was 20 bucks but also got other 3ds games when it was the buy 2 get 1 for free. Good thing I got it.

Kinda surprised there was no mention of any of the "hack key" games that began going for high prices as they allowed people to access homebrew on the 3DS, but I guess the random pokemon game being readily available on the E-shop hit that value. That or are less rare than I thought.

Yo kai Watch 3 is rare? I know a deparmental store that had 5 copies since it release. 2 years later, theres still one left. The wierdest part is that I bought copy number 5 and I know the people who bought the other 3 ones.

Wow I have two of these! I got that DQ game at Walmart brand new for I think $22 about 3 years ago. Just a tip, try checking Target and Walmart for 3DS games, sometimes copies get lost in the back for a few years and an employee will find it and throw it back on the shelf for like $25. That also how I got a brand new copy of Bravely Default for about $20 when they were going for like 4 times that price!
This is making me regret not getting some of these back when they were out in stores mainly because I didn't really care for them.
My local GameStop still had a copy of the launch edition of Radiant Historia a few months ago. Nabbed it as soon as I found out. Still sealed for now at least.
Soon enough I feel Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and Persona Q will become super rare due to the fact the cartridges are failing rn

My physical copies of Fire Emblem Awakening & Fates Birthright (Yeah I got BR because I found the Feudal Japan inspired nature of Hoshido a refreshing setting for the series) already failed. Had to get both off the Eshop when it came to new copies.

I have seen people in the comments talking about their copies of Alien Chaos 3D, Dragon Quest, Yokai Watch 3 and Radiant Historia... But nobody has Barbie Groom and Glam Pups lmaoo

I am curious if the next top 5 rarest list you will be doing is nintendo wii u since I have not seen you cover that yet! Also when you started this top 5 rarest series did you plan on only covering games on nintendo systems since your call your channel nintendrew? Also I don't know how much some of your older list need to be updated but I wonder if after you do wii u and at sometime the nintendo switch top 5 rarest list you may consider looking to see how much prices have changed and if they still hold their previous rarity spot? Like how I feel about your gba list may need updated since some of your lower games have sold for more than the game you listed as the #2 rarest and I told you how I think dragon ball advance adventures should have been a very close #5 to car battler joe possibly moving it to the #4 slot and knocking off your #2 to #6 rarest!

I'm a sucker for Atlas games, since launch day copies always come with some kind of feelies. In the case of Radiant Historia, they included an art book and sticker sheet, and I still own the original box!
I also learned after SMT IV, Radiant Historia, and The Alliance Alive that I never finish Atlas games. For this reason, I held off on getting SMT Apocolypse, despite that it released with a pin set included.
Didn't expect Dragon Quest VIII and Radiant Historia to be worth that much. I picked both up from clearance bins (along with DQ VII) in Target and Wal-Mart for $20 bucks each years ago. Heck, they're still in shrink wrap since I haven't gotten to playing them since I beat their originals well over a decade ago. I guess my addiction to clearance bin hunting strikes again, though I'm REALLY not going to let them go now since it'd be a pain to reacquire for my collection.
For those interested im DQ8, a major difference between the PS2/3ds versions is that the original features random encounters. The 3ds version has the enemies appear on the field like with DQ11.
