I actually found it neat about how similar looking Wendy: Every Witch Way looks to Shantae. Of course, I would say without a doubt that WayForward was a Midas with how good looking their games looked on the GBC.
This list is not accurate at all if we are naming the RAREST games. Only Singer would make a true top 5 rarity list. Shante is much more common than Space Marauder, for example.

I actually used to play Survival Kids back then, tho it was emulated. Afaik there's also sequels on the DS but it's called Lost In Blue, cmiiw. Also GBC Shantae is a classic.

I guessed Shantae would make it to number #1! I have the VC version which is the easiest way to own it legally, but I got curious a while back to see how much physical copies cost, and was definitely surprised to say the least! The game didn't even come out of North America, making especially rare elsewhere, relying on import copies only. I know it's very unlikely but I'd love to see a company reprint new copies of Shantae one day. Kinda like the Ducktales NES cart from a few years back.
Yeah, when I said it "didn't come out of North America" I kinda meant that it didn't release elsewhere, like Europe or Japan. So I figured that's why it's even more rare.

It gives you access to a(n overpowered) transformation dance that turns you into a Tinkerbat. It has the abilities of the monkey and spider while also being able to attack. This transformation was later referenced (and massively toned down) in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

I used a Gameboy Camera track because the sewing software had no music. The Gameboy Camera OST samples a lot of EarthBound, because they were made by the same team. 🙂
I'm moderately surprised you don't have Shantae. I decided to start collecting them since they ALL go up in value. I have the GBC game, and I have sealed copies of both Risky's Revenge and the Pirate's Curse on PS4. I also have a sealed Pirate's curse for 3DS, and sealed copies of Half-Genie Hero for both PS Vita and Nintendo Switch. Probably not as impressive as a complete N64 collection, but I'm proud of it
Man, this makes my story of the me and the Shantae original game hurt even more. During the GBA craze, I still only had a GBC and I know that I've frequently saw Shantae on store shelves because it was basically the only GBC game in store shelves at the time. I've always ignored it because Shantae was a girl and thought it was like every typical girl video game. In the end, Shantae is one of my most favorite video game franchise sharing the top 8 space with Castlevania. Ouch! 😖

You forgot Metal Gear: Ghost Babel! I kick myself for losing that cartridge all of the time, it was my favorite game ever, and depending on condition can sell for over $1,000!
You forgot to mention that RE: Gaiden had one of the best soundtracks on the system! I actually tracked down a copy last year and bought it for roughly 40 USD just for that sick 4-bit music!

I hope Wayforward will remake the first Shantae! It had some gameplay mechanics that have never been used in any of the other games of the series, such day/night cycle and the fact that you had to actually press the right sequence of buttons to perform the dances to transform and fast travel!
Azure dreams and Metal gear for gameboy color might be somewhat rare, probably not enought to make this list though. Overall, magical chase (only released in japan) is probably the rarest gbc game. it costs around $500 complete.

I put the cartridge back, because I thought the game was "for girls." Years later as a teen, after hearing about how rare the game was, I quickly scowered towards that same drawer looking for the game. I managed to find it, still in good condition. Surprising that I happened to own one of the rarest game boy color games since I was young. UPDATE: Nevermind. I only own the cartridge. :( UPDATE 2: Nevermind again. I only own the original cartridge. The others I've been looking at where it's cartridge only (costing $10) are just reproductions.

i still got my resident evil gaiden copy :) i bought it used from eb games before gamestop took over so it didnt come with the original box but ever since then i got a custom replacement, its honestly not the worst game i played.

I still currently have my Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. I do not have the box anymore but the game is still in very good condition
