    Wow, my chicken turned out so amazing! I’ve never had chicken breast this moist and yummy! My chicken was under 3 pounds so I cooked it for 15 min. Probably could cook it just a few min more since I opt to not broil it in the oven; as there was a bit of redness. Additionally, I mixed in a spoonful of brown sugar to the juice to tone down the tartness, and it was perfect! Thank you, Flo for this great recipe!

    The water thing is because they’ve taken all the good minerals and good bacteria out of the water. Our body craves ‘Living’ water, but alas, like our poor soils, water is no longer living, only sterile. Also, our atmospheric pressures are changing, so the body just gets rid of any more than 3-4 oz of liquid at a time. Best is whatever liquid you are using for hydration, drink in small amounts, but more often. Love your vids! You got me hooked on IP-I hope you’re getting royalties, lol🤗🏅

    Two things I learned today from you (which I appreciate very much) 1. I didn't know you could adjust the saute button to more. 2. I have the same problem about "fainting" and didn't know that I was dehydrated-because I drink a lot of water also. Do you think by adding some pink salt to the water it would help with dehydration? I really missed you and your videos, please take care so we all can all enjoy your videos and learn so much from you. Just to add one more comment I like that you are teaching how to use the app, and how to program it. I don't think that there is anyone else showing how on their channel

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +PineMountainVentures You are so kind! Thank you! I am so glad you are learning something from my videos. My doc said I needed more electrolytes and I associate that with Gatorade or other drinks like that but she said if I just dilute juice that would work too. I don't know about salt.

    May I suggest trussing the chicken with heavy kitchen twine trying the ends of the legs together and then wrap the twine around the folded wings. tie securely. first, juice the lemon and insert the peels along withe sprigs of time etc. into the body. Using navy fork tines maneuver the chicken to brown before pressure cooking.

  • @Lilac21248

    There is two reasons to drink a water.
    1. To hydrate yourself you should sip water frequently so it gets absorbed by your body to hydrate it. Do not force fluids. 8 glasses a day is highly overrated.
    2. To flash toxins from your kidney, liver etc. drink a lot and often, then it goes out of you flashing. Do not do it often or you along with toxins flashing out minerals from you body that you need to keep in. That's why electrolytes are recommended to replenish loss of minerals.
    Adding electrolytes is a good idea though..
    Nice chicken, I'm new to PC so I'm grateful for your instruction.
    Thanks for sharing and take a good care of yourself.

    Thank you for the very informative video. The food looks very yummy. I did want to let you know something I saw in America's test kitchen video about the quick release. They stated during one of their demonstrations that quick release should not be used for meats, probably more of a reference to beef because quick release causes the meat to seize and not be as tender. I do not know whether this refers to chicken as well. I hope you find that as helpful as I did and thanks again for your videos.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +raimcg Yes, I've read that as well. I'm not sure if it refers to chicken either but I don't want the chicken to overcook. I have found the chicken to be juicy and the perfect texture. (I don't like fall off the bone, mealy textured chicken.) Thanks for your thoughtful comment!

    Thank you for this video. Could you comment quickly on the roast potatoes. Oven temperature and for how long?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Snow57flake Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Cut potatoes into quarters, toss with salt & pepper, olive oil and several pats of butter. Spread in single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 30 mins. I added the chicken when there was 10 mins left and also gave them a quick stir.

    Adding rosemary in the cavity instead of thyme, plus garlic cloves, is also very yummy.

      +Colette Gardiner I only have the 6qt pots. I feed a family of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids) and I have not felt the need to get the 8qt.

    Sorry for your fall. I didn't even notice your bruise until you pointed it out. You need to always get up slowly to allow your blood pressure to equalize. Thanks for your chicken recipe. I'm excited to have found your show.

    2 questions - 1) what temperature did you set the oven to when you wanted to brown the skin? 2) were the potatoes already precooked, and you just wanted to warm them up, or were they raw before they were put in the oven? Thanks in advance!

    Since you brown the chicken under the broiler at the end anyway, is it still necessary to saute/brown it before pressure cooking it?

    Hi, really enjoyed your videos. I have not bought an Instant Pot yet, still doing research to see if it's worth it and can't decide on the 6qt or 8qt size. Which size is yours? Thanks again! E. B.

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eunice Cupples Thanks, Eunice! It's definitely a different way of cooking but it makes my life easier since many things take far less time than conventional methods. However, I don't see it as a replacement for everything. Some things are better in the pot, some things are not. I have 2 x 6qts.

      +tjkbacha Same way. Just manually enter the amount of time using the formula 5.5 mins per pound.

    Can you share if you have the timing down on cooking chicken thighs? Still use the same math as for a whole chicken? Thanks!!

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bone in thighs only take about 8 mins to cook. 10 mins if you don't brown them first. Boneless thighs can be done in 5-6 mins. Hope that helps.

    Hi Flo! Glad to see you two back!! Great video! Your chicken looks like it came out REALLY well. I've made 3 whole chicken attempts in my IP so far, it's one of my favorite things because then I get the meat and I can make stock from the carcass. One thing is that mine have so far come out REALLY falling apart, much more than yours. I think I was doing the 6 min per lb, so I'll try your 5.5 next time, and do QR not NR. I have also considered using the little stand they provide and putting the chicken on that, so it's not sitting in the liquid I have added. I was thinking that might be what makes it turn out that wet and this could help keep it moist but not TOO falling apart. What do you think of that idea?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Theah Erickson Thanks, Theah! You are too kind! When I'm browning the chicken, I can't be bothered with lifting it up to put the trivet in but I will put it on a trivet when I don't brown it first for the Hainanese Chicken that I make. (Haven't done a video for that one yet - need to get on it!) Let me know how your next roast chicken goes.

    What type of oil? Grape Seed? Olive oil. We use unsalted butter. Good? I'm determined since the chicken is so moist. Any preference of chicken? Free range, air chilled should chicken be at room temp?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carol Viotti Lately I just use what I have but when I roast chicken in the oven, I like to use grapeseed oil as it has a higher burn temperature than other oils and it's in the oven for 1.5 hours. In the video, I just used vegetable oil because the IP doesn't get that hot. I usually buy organic or free range chicken and I don't bring it up to room temp. =)
