Dear Dan and Row, thank you so much for these videos, which we've really enjoyed watching. I know that they must be a huge amount of work, but it would be wonderful to see some more! One way or another, I hope that you had a great summer sailing.
Love the idea of improving your tacking! Try not to anticipate the boom coming across - don't move from your side of the boat until the boom thwacks over. The leeward side of the boat will rise up alarmingly in front of you, your bum will seem to be about to dip in the lake, but you can then stand up, step uphill to the (now) windward side of the boat and, as you do so the boat will (should!) come back onto an even keel. That way you don't spend an eternity grovelling in the bottom of the boat, sails flapping, waiting for the tack to complete. Try sitting out more - you can sit on opposite sides to balance the boat, giving you both more room and better visibility.
The Gull you have is a great boat, although not a new one, she is an earlier version than mine, which was built 1976. Consequently, she's going to need a bit of maintenance, which will make a world of difference to the way she sails and to your enjoyment of her. Learn how to do the work on her yourself and you'll probably start to enjoy working on her as well as sailing her. - One good thing about an older boat is you can work and maintain them more easily. Like the sound of the plans you have for the channel. I think you're thinking along the right lines. Regards to the two of you, David.
My dear friends, in your extended absence I have had to find another favorite sailing couple. And, I think if you go to Allison and James Sailing that you will find inspiration in this lovely Canadian couple and their sailing adventure up the coast of British Columbia. They are, sadly, not as piratey, they do make frequent messes but not as much trouble as I would like. Please return to us, your fans, soon. ☠ Yaaahrrr!
Excellent video guys, If you get the opportunity, try as many boats as you can, a laser is great for single handed experience and crewing on cruisers is also a terrific way to learn. you don't really need two dinghy's so get rid of one, save some pennies and look to buying something sea worthy at a later date. As for the cleat, just buy a proper rivet gun from the chandlers. What you had will not pop a marine grade rivet.
Many years ago I did a sailing course at Mylor Sailing school near Falmouth. Boats and instructors were amazing so a safe and exciting way to improve sea sailing skills. Obviously I don't know what it's like now but it's still there unlike most sailing schools I went to!
Long time no see. I hope you two are well. Please come back soon. I'll be sailing the Gulf Coast for five days and nights starting tomorrow. Yaaahrrr!!! Stay in trouble.
Grip the rivet slightly further up the shank, this will allow you to get a better grip on the rivet gun and close the handles up a bit to start the rivet, then carry on as normal with the gun to pull the rivet through. There's nothing wrong with that rivet gun, you're just not doing it very well. Hope this helps for next time as I'm about 3 months too late with this information. 👍
Aye, maties. Tis the favorite day of all pirates, today be September 19th. The good king has declared this fair day long ago to be Talk Like a Pirate Day. Yea all the scurvy landlubbing knaves will pay proper tribute to the only free men in this world, PIRATES!!! Arrrrrh, and if ye shall encounter any of thems that pay ye no tribute, take their rum rations today and be merry y'are a pirate. I invite ye my limey mates to raise a pint and celebrate aaahrr proper celebration. Cheers!!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Talk_Like_a_Pirate_Day
Ahoy! Our favourite pirate. Dis year we 'ave been mighty bad pirates 'n even forgot 'twas pirate day. Thanks fer remindin' us. We shall enjoy a rum tonight 'n stir up some trouble… yarr 🏴☠️

What a lovely comment! Thank you so much! 😊
I also sail at frampton, I enjoy your videos and I find your drone shots to be very useful for keeping an eye on my boat 👍
😂 that’s brilliant! ⛵️ Hopefully meet you soon!
Re; the rivet gun. See if you can find out who the boat boson is at your club and ask him. He will have a decent rivet gun that you can borrow.👍
That’s a brilliant idea!! Thank you for suggesting it. 👍
Easiest way to get water off the cover is lift the bow with the handle of the launch trolley.
Thank you 👌
I think Dan needs to do a short on rivets. Can’t let the rivets gun win!
Great idea for when we get the new rivet gun! Thanks 😊
Cheers from Singapore!
Great to hear from you! So far away! 😊

You can let go of the halyards in the wind, just tie them onto the boat. 😊
Yes, of course 👍

Yes, we have some maintenance plans for the near future, and, like you said, to do it ourselves! 👌🏻
Stay! In! Trouble! Love you guy. One day we will meet and cause some nautical shenanigans. Yaaahrrr! ☠
Yaaaahrrrr!! 🏴☠️

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, we definitely need a better rivet gun, it’s on the list! 👍
Bit more expensive than a rope, but so simple… I use a gym ball in the boat to keep the cover up… stops the water pooling :-)
Thank you, that’s a creative idea!! 😊

Fantastic, thanks for sharing that. It’s worth knowing a place like that, it could come in handy… ⛵️
Yaaahrrr!!! Get back to TH-cam. The pirates of Texas miss you. ☠⚓⛵⚓☠
Guys, where are you ? I've been waiting for the next instalment of Gull shenanigans. Hope all's ok Scott Devon x
Thanks Scott 😎

Great to hear from you! Hope your adventure was full of magic and trouble! We hope to be back soon! 😀

Nice one
Cheers!
Will there be any new videos this year?
That’s the plan! 😀
Missing seeing what you two guys are up to. I really do hope you've not changed your minds and have given up on your channel?
What a lovely message, thank you! We have not given up - we will be back 😎
